The biggest complaint about this car is the sand that gets stuck in the doors. It's annoying ASF. All the other aspects you mentioned are nothing compared to this flawed aspect to the car.
I want one after I sell the viper. Considering huracans are sitting above 200k for whatever reason and 720s are 220-230, I'd much rather the 720s all day. However, having it sit in the shop more than my garage is concerning
After a few small issues at the beginning I have ended up having no real issues with mine. I think as long as you get a PPI on it before buying it you will be fine.
@executiveinvestments said no one ever. No matter how much money you have, you don't want a car that's going to be sitting in thr shop. And no, that's the going market now, 220-230k
I had no problem with the 720s besides the quiet exhaust (Luxery Edition). The gas cover clip is flimsy. That's about it. Seat buttons are weird, but you don't need to touch them once they're set.
I also think it’s a mindset problem. If all you are looking for is the problems and negatives that’s what you will see and find. If you are looking for positive good things that’s what you will see and find.
I wasn’t sure at first. Used to R8 v10 on cc, and they are on or off! Now used to the 720, I find it more Linear and gradual, and actually, now I prefer it.
Backup camera isn't my favorite, but I liked your thoughts. It blows compared to, say, a Tesla, but that isn't necessarily a fair comparison. Doors hard to open? Meh. Not in my mind. That's a nonissue. I'm NOT a fan of the damn seat controls. I am not a fan of location, nor how they operate. About as clear as a stained glass window. Headroom is fine to me. Lack of glovebox is legit. I don't understand why it couldn't be added regardless. I definitely agree on the brake pedal. 2nd cup holder is DUH. Agree on that as well. Buttons are no big deal---not a legit concern/issue. Noise of shifters is a non-issue. I'm NOT a fan of the SIZE though. I actually prefer Aston's setup that has them bigger, but static location. Gas gauge is a non-issue. Give me a break people GREAT THOUGHTS on how to start the car. I did NOT know that! LMAO at NO LOCATION for your cell phone! 100% agree! Why did you push (turnoff) auto shut off (engine) before you started the car?
I used to push all the buttons like that before I started the car it was supposed to make it louder like a cold start. Now I just do the power up cycle then push that and the active button while it’s warming up.
@@Busterburg Thanks for your thoughts! Related: One (kinda) bug I'm noticing with not only my 720, but both of my business partners (total of three 720s) is the dreaded (at least to us) Check Engine Light. I just had one pop on, stayed on for one evening, then mysteriously disappeared next day. My partners have had similar CEL facepalms. This common for you as well? Or, will these go away once we learn/apply your thoughts as to how to start the car?
@lunaticfringe896 if I keep mine on a battery maintainer over night and do the start up sequence I don’t get the phantom CEL anymore. Since getting the 765LT I haven’t had 1 yet.
@@Busterburg I fear I was keeping my battery maintainer on too much. Just evenings? And yes, I’m thinking I should have gone straight to the 765. I hate you now. Ha!
@lunaticfringe896 I just mean to hook it up unless you are going to drive it for over 10 minutes every day. From what I found they really don’t like the battery not being full. The 765 is amazing.
@@Busterburg I have a 570s and I'm like 6' 3''? somewhere in there- and been looking at reasons to upgrade. That alone is huge- Bummer that there is no apple car play, hopefully the artura will be backward flash compatible- ;)

@YouDude_Investments if you only hit light rain in Florida during the summer that’s a perfect drive. If you want in set the goal and start working towards it every day.
that let the electronics turn on before starting the engine, it's because the mclaren's engine turns the other way around, consequently, the rotation instead of pulling oil, expels it, so you should let the pumps turn on first
hi, I really like the 720 but all my friends and workshops keep telling me not to buy it due to serious reliability problems, it's the car of my dreams, in your opinion, since you know it well, can I buy it or better aim for something else? Hello and thanks from Italy
The way I look at these types of cars are they all have issues as long as you minimize your risk like keeping a warranty and know what common issues are to make sure that is not a problem with the car you are trying to buy. You will have a good experience. Always get a PPI even if buying from a dealership. Then all you have to worry about is how you are going to enjoy the car.
I like the knobs in the car I just don’t like them in the wheel like the R8. I feel like there is too much going on.it might be because i have big hands so it makes it uncomfortable for me. I totally understand people liking it though.
That is what I feel like the manufacturers think. Sometimes I wish they would stake a little more time and just think about when people are actually driving them and just make a few little adjustments for comfort like putting CarPlay or android auto in instead of developing their own maps.
Hey man no need anyone proof or explain for newbs or haters no have glu or idea of McLaren history 720s is key of supercar of McLaren sec is 765lt is big brother of family McLaren but true 720s is best very good car worth the money if u want faster is big brother 765lt killer machine. @antwonrichardson9324 I think you are on the right track with realizing it’s a mindset thing first . As far as advice on how to buy them I Iearned from a group called Exotic Car Hacks. They have a UA-cam channel too. Join that group and you will get the best information I have found on the right way to buy exotic cars.
Mine doesn’t have the carbon on the steering wheel so that doesn’t apply and I have leather so the alcantara issues also don’t apply. My interior is a little plain but quality it is good so far.
@@Busterburg I have the carbon on the steering wheel. Its solid. Not loose at all. I had that problem with am AMG a few years back. Was from parking the car in the heat and eventually he glue gave way. A tiny bit of silicone later and never a problem after that. My Alcantara on the wheel does get matted down. But thats the nature of the material. Happens on all cars with alcantara steering wheels.
@executiveinvestments that’s a good tip for the carbon. I have been told a good way to clean and maintain the alcantara is with shoe cleaning products and brushes
@executiveinvestments I agree 100% they won’t fix it unless you ask and then they are very accommodating. To the point there is a flaw in my paint and they are going to fix it under warranty.
Just get in it and drive one of the best cars in the world , look for the great things ,not minor faults , every thing has faults if you have the inclination to look hard enough !
I think that ad you pay more for a car your expectations should go up considering the price you are paying. There shouldn’t be things Kia has that a McLaren doesn’t unless it adds significant weight or a performance disadvantage
criticisms that I see a lot are the carbon fiber on the steering wheel, the plastic or carbon fiber parts that surround the center screen, engine overheating and catching fire out of nowhere. They are not very reliable cars, especially compared to the Lamborghini of the time, like a Huracan.
The plastic around the center screen on mine is great no issues. I am actually really impressed with the cars ability to stay cool so far my Aventador was always running hot if you drive aggressively. The Huracan is amazing but I’m not sure it’s the Lamborghini you would compare this one too. I would probably say the 570 or the Atura now.
I've have 7000kms on my 720s and so far no issues. Had a few electronic issues like rear wing stuck open but easy reset by restarting the car. Not one single mechanical issue so far.
@@makk2042 After fixing my initial issues that were most likely just due to the dealer letting the battery die. And the tech not plugging something back in. Mine has been solid so far.
So far I don't think they are. I haven't had any major issues that make it stay at the dealer that would definitely have the ability to change my mind in a hurry. Thanks for watching and commenting.
All the problems you stated are minor to me except I have two Mclaren and the CAM PHASER WENT SOUTH AND NOT EVEN 10,000 MILES. THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REMOVED TO FIX THE ISSUE. SHIT THING ! Now that i was driving ACURA NSX --- have ZERO problem.
I have heard that is an issue. I agree that all the problems I went over are minor. Those were the most common complaints I was seeing from other videos.
@@Busterburg IMO, 720S is about curves and being subdued inside. The steering wheel doesn't have a single button. Lambo, esp avandatore is about sharp angles and very aggressive interior. I believe 720 outperforms avandatore on track but the aura of avandatore is legendary. I would pick a svj over 720S anyday. Avandatore demands respect which i would give. My 720S is 2022, ludus blue, red caliprs, stitching and seat belts with carbon fiber spoiler and stealth wheels. What's your avandatore? PS my fantasy is to also have a lambo (used avandatore or new tecnica) and a Ferrari (488 GTS or 296 GTS) over the next 4 years. Idk if it is gonna happen though.
The SVJ is different than regular Aventadors. I would say you would have to compare the 765 to the SVJ. Next time I see PJ with @exoticcarhacks I will ask him which he likes better he has both.
@@Busterburg agree svj is very beautiful. My friend just got 2014 gray avandatore and i prefer mine over his but then again avandatore has a much bigger name. What color is yours?
@@Busterburg i am poor, i have never even seen a McLaren in person. i win the lottery, i am getting a 720s in your color. would yours happen to be Brooks ?
I thought that at one point too. Change how you think and it’s in as far away as you think. I don’t think I got Brooks 720 but I don’t know who owned it before me.

Yeah they are great. But I fully agree that there isn’t much room to mod unless you want to really spend a lot of money to do it. I am starting to look for something with more potential for mods.
These are all extremely minor inconveniences but the main issue with these is that they're known to break down which is unforgivable. And the fact that Andrew Tate has three of these to negate inevitable breakdowns says it all. I'll wait for the update video in 6 months to 1 year lol
Yeah I could see him doing that. He has mentioned how far away he lives from the dealership so that’s probably an extra annoyance for him too. Hopefully I have one of the “good” ones And it won’t break down.
@@Busterburg Fingers crossed man. Was hoping to pick up this or the 600lt mid next year but it seems breakdowns is part of the mclauren experience. So frustrating for such a beautiful car to have so many issues. Good luck though!
@@Natak222 the most important thing is to actually get them out and drive them. The ones with problems are the ones that sit in garages and don’t get driven. Besides the battery I recently replaced, the accumulators will need to be replaced in the near future, but none of these issues ever left me stranded and the car is amazing! Buy one and drive it and enjoy the hell out of it! 🏎️💨
They are way better than people make it sound. Yes, small things will go wrong, but you don't get stranded as long as you drive it. If it sits the battery goes and then you're in trouble. Also, it isn't a daily like a Porsche or such, not because the car won't do it (though the MP-4 was better in that respect) but because the dealerships won't turn them round in a day.

You are correct that is such an annoying thing that this car does.
@@Busterburg Thank you for responding, do you recommend the extended warranty?
It depends on how long you are planning on keeping it
@@whitejodeci8926 if you are worried about it having issues than dont buy one. And for 220-230K? Must be a stripped down old high mileage car.
@executiveinvestments said no one ever. No matter how much money you have, you don't want a car that's going to be sitting in thr shop. And no, that's the going market now, 220-230k
Hand built cars... I have the same with the gaps between panels on my car. It is what it is. Nice 720! Best of luck.
McLaren didn't make the panels they do now
Thanks I appreciate it.
I didn’t know they were outsourcing the panels. Glad to hear they went in-house. I think it will help out a lot
I had no problem with the 720s besides the quiet exhaust (Luxery Edition). The gas cover clip is flimsy. That's about it. Seat buttons are weird, but you don't need to touch them once they're set.
Yeah my gas cover had issues too. Definitely too quiet.
To those who loves to complain....buy the car, LEARN to drive it.
I also think it’s a mindset problem. If all you are looking for is the problems and negatives that’s what you will see and find. If you are looking for positive good things that’s what you will see and find.
I can relate to the break issue. It took me a while to get used to it on my 650s
It must be a McLaren thing. I don’t really notice it now n
@@Busterburg I still notice it but the breaking power when you got carbon ceramics is one of my favorite features of the car
Me too, once the breaks are up to temperature of course 😂
@AT EMA650S Maybe that's my problem all gas no breaks. 😂
Give me a break people
GREAT THOUGHTS on how to start the car.
The 765 is amazing.
vs your 600 lt -- do you have more headroom with that door ceiling glass section?
Yes the glass above me on the 720 adds a few inches. It lets me have more leg room because I don’t have to recline back as far to fit my head.
@@Busterburg I have a 570s and I'm like 6' 3''? somewhere in there- and been looking at reasons to upgrade. That alone is huge-
Bummer that there is no apple car play, hopefully the artura will be backward flash compatible- ;)
That would be nice.
Great video. I’m about to take a dark blue 720s from Tampa to Cape Coral for a family member ! Needed the refresher and knowledge. It’s going to be a great ride ! This is a gorgeous machine ! LFG 🤘 SWFL 🔥
Enjoy the drive it’s fun and you couldn’t pick a better car to do it in.
@@Busterburg the ride was beautiful. Great car ! Can’t wait to own one myself someday. Beautiful piece of machinery ! Little lite rain on the way but overall gorgeous ride.
@@Busterburg and I know it was an authentic McLaren. Because the power steering pump was whining. 😂
@YouDude_Investments if you only hit light rain in Florida during the summer that’s a perfect drive. If you want in set the goal and start working towards it every day.
that let the electronics turn on before starting the engine, it's because the mclaren's engine turns the other way around, consequently, the rotation instead of pulling oil, expels it, so you should let the pumps turn on first
I didn’t know that about the way McLaren engines work. Thanks, that’s good to know.
@@Busterburg It is information that does not change the experience of the owner in any way, but it is still a good engineering detail 👌
I love my 720s just hate how low it is almost gotta fall into it & definitely no storage space
It definitely is super low. Compared to other cars I have had I feel like it has more storage space than most others in its class.
39k views in a year. hold the press! this guy must be worth listening to. Even the title to this video is pure make believe.
Thanks for watching.
hi, I really like the 720 but all my friends and workshops keep telling me not to buy it due to serious reliability problems, it's the car of my dreams, in your opinion, since you know it well, can I buy it or better aim for something else? Hello and thanks from Italy
Buy it with a warranty so if it does need repaired then it will not cost anything. They are amazing cars.
@@Busterburg I thank you for the suggestions, I hope to be able to find one in good condition, thank you again
I like having gadgets, knobs, controls etc on the steering wheel
I like the knobs in the car I just don’t like them in the wheel like the R8. I feel like there is too much going on.it might be because i have big hands so it makes it uncomfortable for me. I totally understand people liking it though.
This car is amazing! Fast as hell! Damn everything else. The speed is why I love it. It's an exotic! I didn't buy it to be a Lexus!
That is what I feel like the manufacturers think. Sometimes I wish they would stake a little more time and just think about when people are actually driving them and just make a few little adjustments for comfort like putting CarPlay or android auto in instead of developing their own maps.
@@Busterburg Lambo has made that move, and I am sure Mclaren will come soon.
Yeah they have with the new one but it is a hybrid so I am bummed about that.
@@Busterburg That is true! I forgot about that part!
It sucks but it’s going to be hard to get away from moving forward.
Hey man no need anyone proof or explain for newbs or haters no have glu or idea of McLaren history 720s is key of supercar of McLaren sec is 765lt is big brother of family McLaren but true 720s is best very good car worth the money if u want faster is big brother 765lt killer machine. Guys u can't compare 720s vs anyone cars because the car for that level he beat alot cars vs stock or tuned no need proof is beast and 720s I like all design is good sec for me compare for race vs 720s is Honda NSX type s both is killer machine my favorite supercar or if u want go cheap go Artur hybrid McLaren very fast and good sound of that 720s from V6.
I want to get another NSX and possibly an R8 if I sell the 720 I could get both for the same money.
This is one sentence?
love the posters in your garage
Thanks, the orange one is the cover of the book I wrote. That was a definite bucket list item. The other one is awesome too.
Thanks for the video my guy 🤴🏾💯👍🏽
Thanks for watching
I am 33 years old but is it any advice you can give me that you did or will do so that I can afford a 720s in 3 years or so if I can apply myself because its alot of people who would love to buy a car super car,but don't have the mindset or job income that will pay them enough to buy a car like this🤴🏽💯
@antwonrichardson9324 I think you are on the right track with realizing it’s a mindset thing first . As far as advice on how to buy them I Iearned from a group called Exotic Car Hacks. They have a UA-cam channel too. Join that group and you will get the best information I have found on the right way to buy exotic cars.
All I know is I hated mine with passion, it literally annoyed me, didn’t like the car, I’ll drive my AMG over my old 720s any day.
Really what about it made you hate it so much?
I lost you at the point that you said,"Andrew Tate taught you to start the car."😂
I had no idea it was him until I went back to see where I saw the video. It’s funny his channel used to be a lot of car stuff.
I just look at the 720s as a 4 wheel s1000rr in proportion to it's attention to build quality, track performance, road comfort, and acceleration.
what about interior build quality? that seems to garner alot fo criticism
@@Busterburg I’m gonna try that for the alcantara. Thanks for the info. 👍
@executiveinvestments I am actually ordering it for mine too so I will make a video about it if it works.
I love my 2021 720S. So far 7,000 mi & no problems. Panel gaps perfect. Just lucky?
I’m not sure. Maybe it has something to do with how they are assembled by hand? Maybe yours was at the start of the week. They are fun cars for sure.
my panel gaps are all perfect. If anything is off let the service dept know and they will adjust as needed. Simple fix.
@executiveinvestments I agree 100% they won’t fix it unless you ask and then they are very accommodating. To the point there is a flaw in my paint and they are going to fix it under warranty.
Carbon brakes are designed for hot temps.
They also stay so much cleaner. For me that is the biggest benefit that I experience with carbon brakes.
If you want a dull, boring, luxury box…go for it. Those who want to feel alive…go buy a McLaren.
Exactly, that’s the best way to put it.
Who the heck says 720s bad? Must be people that don't have one. Cause their frigging amazing
Some have them and I just noticed a lot of videos that owners posted complaining about the car. I think they are amazing.
@@Busterburg okie dokie
It's invigorating to see so many McL owners, i.e. shiny successful people, in the comments. Having said that I'll shut up as I don't own one. 🤐
Not yet but you can sooner than you think. You can accomplish more in a year than you think string a few together and you will have one.
You got a backup camera, you win lol
Backup camera and its actually useful.
Just get in it and drive one of the best cars in the world , look for the great things ,not minor faults , every thing has faults if you have the inclination to look hard enough !
Well put. You will definitely notice what you are looking for
Anybody that can splash down $350,000 on a toy has no reason to complain.
@@Busterburg are you saying that it's a reliable car?
As of now for this type of car yeah, but that can all change tomorrow.
I love the 720 McLaren's.
It’s my favorite that I have owned so far.
I am always wondering who buys a McLaren for cupholders... If you drive it as it should be driven nothing will stay in anyway.
We have to put our can of Redbull somewhere. Hahah.
This is hypercar performance for supercar price
And that price keeps going down it’s crazy how cheap they are getting.
@@Busterburg yep it's a bargain when it comes to performance/dollar
I think they will go back up a little just not for awhile.
Gotta go for Huracan Evo .
I was thinking R8
I love your cap.
It’s one of my favorites.
Yes, yes they are.
Manual seats save weight.
Yeah and add another inch or so of headroom. I think the seats I have are more comfortable though.
I have one, IMO the car is beyond gorgeous!
I have always wanted a Aventador finally got one and I was underwhelmed by the looks and driving. The 720 on the other hand looks and drives amazing.
Mine was orange but I sold it awhile ago.
i wish i had those problems !
That’s what I say all the time. 😂
@@Busterburg earning wealth takes time, or luck, i have neither. you look under 30. if i was 30, and knew what i know now, then yes, i could do it. going on 60, and not all that smart, i don't have a chance.
hey, maybe you live by me, and would give me a ride, lol = the luck thing = nope.
I’m over 40 and I don’t think that luck has anything to do with it. I think it’s in your mindset and willingness to see opportunities that others miss due to a fixed mindset.
there not going be very fast stock compared to even my lowly fbe c7 but with a tune can get into the 9s or maybe low 9s
dont compare a corvette with a 720,.... not the same world, and you know it.
@lowbodyfat6707 😂
@@lowbodyfat6707 I was just talking about straight line speed know that they're anywhere near comparable. In terms of other things I've driven the McLaren I know what it's about.

Yeah they are great. But I fully agree that there isn’t much room to mod unless you want to really spend a lot of money to do it. I am starting to look for something with more potential for mods.
The electronics of this car is really bad
Mine didn’t have a ton of electrical issues but yes they are known for that.
not going be a good 1/2 mile or even qtr mile car compared to the TT lambo but good for a DD

Soon….
They are worth the wait
I got a svj Instead . More for your buck
You could buy 2 720’s for a SVJ price. But you definitely have an amazing car.
Aventadors same issue. Maybe a R8 or Huracan. Those are both reliable. My New NSX was amazing.
Also, it isn't a daily like a Porsche or such, not because the car won't do it (though the MP-4 was better in that respect) but because the dealerships won't turn them round in a day.
noice, less snowflakes, ace GG

It is a lot of fun.
I havent seen many people say anything bad - on the contrary its universally regarded as amazing and far better and more reliable than Italian competition - your negative title is gonna put a lot of people off of watching your video
Maybe the algorithm is putting different videos in front of me. But I get more video’s saying things like “5 things I hate about my McLaren 720s” or “why I sold my 720s”. It’s probably because when I was buying it I was looking for what to be cautious of when looking. Sorry if you didn’t like my title. Thanks for your comment though. Have a great day.

Why do you need a cup holder on a sports car ffs?
To hold a drink. I don’t only drive it on the weekends or to a car show. I like to dive it for anytime. For me that means water bottles and coffee and energy drinks from time to time.
mclaren's interiors are so plain and ugly
Yeah unless you go super heavy with MSO options.
@@Busterburg you ever consider a r8 or huracan and twin turbo it?
I had a first gen R8 gated v10. I loved it. I would totally get a new R8. The window is too low for me on a Huracan I am too tall.
If you give a mf a 1 million dollars they would complain because they don't have 2,shit don't like it don't buy it make it simple
That’s true for a lot of people. Watching the videos it doesn’t seem like the people making them actually own the cars either.
The shift paddles follow the wheel which is retarded when you turn a lot on a windly road.
I have had cars with them not attached too. There are advantages and disadvantage to both ways. With the 720 if it’s in track mode you can keep your hands at 9 and 3 for most driving.
