- Опубліковано 14 січ 2024
- Zelda's Gerudo Valley Theme is a flawless example of Spanish guitar. Written by Koji Kondo for Ocarina Of Time back in 1998. I remember playing this game for hours, on a quest to defeat the evil Ganondorf. In this video I'll break down the music using music theory. Andalusian idioms, Rasgueado strumming, scales, theme and variations, modes, chords and keys. Get the full unedited lesson, transcription, tab and guitar pro file at my patreon page below. That’s where I break down 4 key strategies to master this work of art. Right now you can join for FREE and get access to all my tabs and courses muhahaha

Thanks for doing a song from Ocarina of Time, it's my favorite Zelda game. I only have one tattoo and it's the triforce. Maybe you could do a metal cover of the church theme from a link to the past, all time best Zelda song. Thanks and taste the beast!!! 666 420 69
I’m from brazil and i can’t open the link, What should i do? Awesome vídeo by the way!

Gerudo Valley goes so hard
I know its insane. The POWER
I was never a Zelda fan, until my neighbor brought Ocarina of Time over to my house back in the day. Gerudo Valley and this theme with the horse riding and archery were the first things I saw in this game, and I WAS HOOKED after that. Come Christmas 1998, I got Ocarina of Time and my life changed. Ocarina of Time to me, is a near perfect video game, and Ill go to my grave saying that Gerudo Valley's music is one of the greatest songs in video game history.
Shred you’re truly a man of culture.
All the music in the game is amazing. The temple themes, the ocarina pieces, really mystical gorgeous music
Made me realize how much I suck at guitar thanks
Thank you so much for this video shred. My childhood is now complete. Can you do more zelda covers? The spirit and shadow twmple are worth exploring
There will be more Zelda! I reviewed the main theme a couple weeks ago
@@ShredmasterScott fuck yeah you the man
I don't know alot of music theory but watching this video make me appreciate this song even more and I already love it. I remember going in gerrudo just to listen to the music and dive in the river after a while😂 I always liked the flamenco vibe😊. Seeing the theory behind it and how the composer build it is very cool Koji kondo is a genius even if it's not complex the ways everything works together and sound is amazing. he created alot of music for nintendo, including the super mario theme, and they are some bangers in there😄
You’re absolutely right! It brings back some magical memories
My fav Zelda Games are:
OOT, Twilight Princess,
TOTK, Skyward Sword, & Link's Awakening. But I like the darkness of Majora's Mask.
Where did you learn music? You have the knowledge and talent I always wished I could have.
Shred is the goat for posting this, Zelda is a master class in composition
OoT is a permanent milestone in my life. Just hearing a fragment of song from the soundtrack triggers the deepest and most fondest memories of my youth.
This is an absolute beautiful piece, I was so busy plying the game years ago I never really appreciated it like this. As a Kid 8 years old my first guitar and lessons for many years was learning Flamenco and Spanish Guitar from some local teachers and Luthiers " Pimentel & Sons" in NM , I had one custom made for me in 1992 and I have my Grandfathers Concert guitar from them as well, still have it. This truly makes you appreciate the culture and and Nylon string Classical Guitar. Thanks for this detailed lesson, well done sir! I signed up on your Patreon as well!
What a story Johnny! Welcome aboard! Would love to see a picture of your axe on discord 🤘
@@ShredmasterScott I would love to send pics but I've never used discord. Email?
I learned this piece last year. Kind of back-to-back with The Last of Us theme. Still some of the best music in video games and still my favorite game of all time. I really hope they do a remake at some point.
I STARTED ON FLAMENCO GUITAR WHEN I WAS SUPER,SUPER TINY...I HAVE A TREMENDOUS LOVE FOR FLAMENCO/SPANISH GUITAR..THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS VIDEO...
They don't call em Lord Shred for nothing
Been waiting for this video forever, good shit!! 🤘🤘
This is great! I only have watched your shorts and totally didnt even think about seeing if if you have longer videos until today. I have some catching up to do 😅
Trying to learn myself this song crazy you’re covering it !
I'm currently replaying O.o.T on switch after 25 years of originally playing it on N64... I am almost up to Gerudo Valley again and can't wait!... jist gotta pass this FRIKKEN water temple again (not googling it, doing it organically... cos I love to suffer 😂)
Holly hell shred.... Better long video content nowadays ..ofc your yt shorts are the best ❤❤❤❤❤.... Fantabulous
Awesome video, gotta see more of this
This made my day man thanks for posting
I'm glad you exist shred thanks for making these videos
Hell yeah! I knew this was coming!
I was going to say this was my favorite song from OOT, but soon realized, they are all my favorite!
This video speaks to my soul
I love the Gerudo Valley theme, and I'm happy to see you covering it as well, and explaining the scales!
I'd love to see more video game music, and I think Zelda II's Temple Theme is worth exploring, and it has a rhythm section that would make Megadeth proud, muahahaha (wait, that's your line, lol).
Love playing this song. It's so classy and uses some skill
This is gas 🔥🔥🔥
Hey Shred.
Can you do the wild arms theme next?
I'm learning alot from you. Thanks a lot! 🍻
Your a beast! I have been so into flamenco stuff lately
It’s such a great style right?
@@ShredmasterScott 100% I have been trying to practice the picado playing of the scales! You are such a beast player my man! Have you ever player anything by marco giuliani ?
For the rhythmic section (the 2-2-2, 2-3-2, 1-0-0, 1-2-1 part), I recommend a simple index or flipper finger strum, in groups of four D-U-D-U strums timed in fours. Brush the strings with your finger, and avoid hitting them with your nails. I have no idea what the technique is called, but when I try to play flamenco pieces I find it easier to find proper positioning for those emphasized hard picking of other notes using the Rasgueado technique. The Gerudo Valley theme is great for practicing five semitone stretches near the head, plus the timing of fingering notes - but it's heavy on the strumming and picking techniques, and that can be a hurdle for beginners. Just get that 2-2-2 -> 2-3-2 -> 1-0-0 -> 1-2-1 progression flowing and rolling first, using just the one finger, and you can expand upon it using the Rasgueado technique once you get the flow. Use a looper if you can for that rhythm, and you have your metronome for it! Makes the rest of the song a piece of cake with it looping in the background.
thank you for this. ❤
You got me with the flipper. I guess I have to sub now.
I love every zelda game as well as the musical pieces by koji kondo and even the new games but majoras mask has always been my favorite. Stone temple tower theme goes hard as well as spirit temple from ocarina of time
Thank you, Sir ❤❤❤❤
I love how shred dig those old school ARPG games and talk about it musically! first one is Diablo and he made me play Diablo 1 and compose a song for my band inspired by Diablo.
i used to party in gerudo valley. rough area. off the chain parties.
I have never played Zelda but i heared musltiple guitar covers of its songs. High quality material.
theres the flipper😂. Gotta love this mans humor in between.
I have a video request. I was wondering if you could break down the techniques that are being used during Slayer's guitar solos and how they are being utilized. Like chromatic double tapping for example.
Fun vid man. Shred till you're dead!
Great video! And of course ocarina of time was my intro to zelda. Link to the past is my second favorite.
Man, i really, really love Flamenco. Greetings from Spain ❤😊
Im fascinated with the "fairy fountain" music honesty. Id love to see a break-down of whats going on in there.
Spoke too soon, I see you've covered that...nice
A big help when playing the strumming part of this song is learing a basic rumba strum.
*Also if you like this kind of music - Check out Ben Woods' Tarantula and his Flametal stuff.
gerudo valley is lit
Sublime! ❤❤❤
There are two musical characters in Legend of Zelda Wind Waker for GameCube (one plays the harp, one plays the violin). Their songs are so unique, maybe review?
The score on that game is one of my favorites in my opinion (even has a flamenco song too for Dragonroost Island).
this was very impressive
Classical guitar kicks my ass! So much harder than electric muhahaha
Ocarina of time should not only be considered a masterpiece in video games but also in music. It is definitely the game with the best themes
shred please make more videos about bossa nova
You MUST check out the ost for the old mortal kombat games, specifically 1 2 and 3. Those games have some of the most evil vgm I've heard. I don't think anyone has done a music theory breakdown for those games either.
Link to the Past is my personal favorite.
Zelda music is like magic 🪄
Shred if you're on a video game kick you should do the Final Fantasy opening theme too
You should do the version from Retro Remix Revue. Best version
I remember!!!!!
Sheikhs theme was always my favourite but gerudo valley was a real banger 💥
risk of rain 2 has some
fire songs 🤘 a new game but still fresh tunes
Gerudo valley / careless whisper
YEAHHHH!!!!!
Real men of genius
This song unironically got me into flamenco and im spanish lol
Song of Storms next?
That’s Metal 🎸
Bro!!! Zelda and golden eye! There was riffs of rock is some 007 stages check it.
Be my hero and do "Frog's theme" from Chrono Trigger please, please, please.
How would Bach play Gerudo Valley?
Please dive into Mass Effect 2 music. Incredible vibes there backed up by legit theory
Best track in the game, fight me ho
Shred what is your age?
He's 69, but he drinks 420 oz of whiskey a day to maintain his youthful appearance.
@@dormammusubjective5774 lol, I’m just confused bc sometimes he can seem 50, but I don’t think a 50 year old would have played n64
he's in his late 30s@@THISmusicGUY
@@THISmusicGUY Well I'm 37 now and that game came out when I was around 12 in 1998. He said he was a teenager when he played it so he's probably a little older than me. Also, my dad is in his 60's and he does some gaming. The generation that grew up in the 80's and 90's are proving that video games are appealing to any age as many (like myself) still play them.
@@dormammusubjective5774 ok thanks
fun fact, 1998 = 666 x 3.
play majora's mask
Playing a classic guitar with a pick...

my man always looks like he has powder on his nostril
Certainly sounds like he is on powder 😎
No offense at all, but you sound very much like Lars Ulrich when you speak😆😆
