- The only video game music that can give mario a run for its money is the Legend Of Zelda. Written by Koji Kondo, it provides the perfect soundtrack for Link on his quest against the evil Ganondorf. In this video I'll break down the title theme using music theory to see what makes this song great. Who knew there were Andalusian Cadences, quartal harmony, secondary dominants, negative harmony and even some metal chugging!

The theme from this video is the opener of the medley and also has a reprise at around 11:00 that ties the whole arrangement together beautifully. It's genuinely one of the greatest metal covers I've ever heard. I'd highly recommend anyone to check it and that channel out.
Their channel has a number of symphonic metal medleys and other metal covers. The Pokemon Red and Blue medley is another personal highlight for me.
Zelda has so many iconic themes and some killer metal covers I could recommend. I'd love to see you break down other Zelda themes like 'Saria's Song', 'Song of Storms' or 'Gerudo Valley'.
The nostalgia I have for a lot of those Nintendo and/or GameBoy games is unmatched. What the likes of Koji Kondo and Junichi Masuda achieved sonically with the hardware for the time is iconic and a testament to their musical genius.
Sorry for rambling on, but that's what channels like yours do to us music lovers.

This is exactly what I needed to get over being burned out from playing too much metal on the guitar. I dont even like video games but this is so cool and gets me wanting to pick up the axe and play.
I recently learned the Gerudo Valley theme. Great finger-picking exercise. Was always a favorite of mine from Ocarina of Time.

Castlevainia Symphony of The Night, has a banger Soundtrack track that doesn’t miss throughout the entire freaking game. And hot damn is it a whole lotta game. “Bloody Tears”, “Metamorphosis”, and my personal favorite I ear trained myself with learning and took to my first fumblings at what was most surely appalling melodic lead improvisation attempts, “The Tragic Prince”. But Zelda has a special place in my heart. Quite frankly I’m amazed that we got a whole game to play along with every freaking Legend of Zelda album that’s ever been recorded! You just never see that level of generosity anywhere.
SotN is my absolute favorite soundtrack. It's un-frickin'-believably good! I highly recommend checking out Zack Parrish's OST for Valdis Story: Abyssal City (available on Bandcamp or YT), a Metroidvania title exclusive to PC--possibly why it's not nearly as well known as some others.

Good lessons here. You have have a build in "c'' point in your explenation. But you use the "C'' point a reference to the basics in music theorie. I think that is why noops like me can really follow it along.
Example for a "C" a chord is build of 3rds. (that is an eye opener, for me anyway)

Castlevania, Mega Man and Ninja Gaiden have the best music of the 8 bit era.
Bloody Tears, Bubble Man, and Unbreakable Determination, respectively, are my favorites from those original titles. Incredible composition--they sound amazing on 8-bit or with a full orchestra!

I would say the naruto storm series has alot of beautiful music.
Japanese game composers have always gone way harder than what is even remotely necessary. Check out some of Nobuo Uematsu or Shoji Meguro's stuff for example.
Fucking right's they have, Super Metroid is my favorite.
For metal video games stuff check out ToxicEternity, FamilyJules7x, and CSGuitar89 who does a lot of Zelda very nicely
Well, the Halo soundtrack is amazing too, but yes, Zelda's theme song is one of the best themes ever written.
Best theme in ocarina of time is Phantom Ganon and I don't care what you tell me.
Check the Deepwoken ost out, its pretty good considering it was made by one person only and its a roblox game.

D minor gang song of storms and how they used ppretty much the modes of D in orcania because the bitrate for the cartirgadges couldn't really hold polhyphonic shit like it can now , and it's still genius.
