This is the first one I've seen using exclusively nylon strings. He did some fancy things I haven't seen before too though.

For those who don't know:
Gerudo Valley was HEAVILY inspired by Flamenco despite the Gerudo architecture being inspired by The Desert Peoples of Northern Africa, including Egypt. This is because Flamenco originated and evolved from these places when The Desert Peoples once settled what is now known as Spain before being pushed out.
You should also acknowledge the fact that Arabic nations had a huge impact on Spanish culture, which can be seen in a slight resemblance between Spanish and Middle Eastern music. So yeah, it kinda makes sense
@@philosos4566 southern Spain, yes. Which is where Spanish Roma - or Gitano - reside. There’s a really great mix of Arabic, Romani, and Spanish culture there. Also the word Gypsy derived from European people thinking Roma were from Egypt, when we are originally from North India. That being said, Egyptian culture is also badass so its not exactly an offensive mistake that people thought that lol.

He literally played only what the original game gives, but with his own flair to it. The game provided a full damn song, not a '30 second riff'.

I think Koji Kondo was most likely not so proficient at this style like this amazing player, so maybe not...

Frankly, I wouldn't want him to! One of my favorite things about Kondo is that he makes such legendary music yet its so simple that you have guys like this who can take his stuff and make it all their own without ever taking away the source. Seriously, Zelda music is probably the most remixed/covered/re-orchestrated music out there, but each version is just different enough they can all exist uniquely yet still be the same song.
In my opinion, that's what truly makes a master composer haha.

Tbh I definitely felt like there was a part where the pattern he was doing was weird and he carried it on too long. Aka repetitive. The part I'm talking about sounded like improv.

Exactly my feelings. This is the cover of Gerudo Valley I've always had in mind, but could never find. I was seriously considering making my own cover of it just to scratch that feeling. Now that I did find it, I finally feel at peace.

This is the only cover I've ever heard of this song that I like. It is... Perfect. You didn't just copy what concept Kondo had to begin with but you extrapolated the sound out in to some rich tapestry that I think is what would have happened if sound design wasn't so restricted when the game first came out on the 64. A couple years late to the party but what a recommendation from UA-cam, this is just plain awesome
I had goosebumps on my arms at only 30 seconds in...watching him do the double and triple picking of the notes (WITHOUT a pick mind you) while simultaneously matching the tempo and pace of the song and not missing a beat was mind-blowing...and weaving in extra notes and putting his own spin on it while still remaining faithful to the original composition...simply amazing!!! And I'm only 2 minutes in XD

Hey! This is a flamenco technique called "picado". If you play guitar and want to listen to the masters I recommend Paco de Lucia and Vicente amigo. Well played anyways!
@@ignaciorodriguez5987 I've tried playing a guitar, but the intricacies of finger placement on certain chords and trying to keep track of which strings to hit and when eludes me. I do much better on a bass lol. Ty for the tip however
