My parents never had any rules and I was terrified anyway. My brothers and sisters always thought it was weird how worried I was and they didn't even pay attention. I used to walk to church alone at 11 years old. I was searching for a Father/God. I've always believed in Jesus and his righteousness Amen 💖🙏💖

I am 52 and I am so scared to disappoint or disrespect my parents not because they ever hurt me but it was instilled in me to honor my mother and father I feel the same way about God!! This was a good clip!!!

Exactly. I learnt logical morality and discipline from atheist parents. Then I learnt forgiveness from animals. Then I learnt Love from spirituality: spirit guides who introduced me to Jesus and God.

I could not punish them!! Disappointed?--No impact Fussing-- In one ear, out the other. Extra chores -- Did then half-way and half-way again until I was tired before they completed a freaking task. Spanking-- They acted worse. Solitude-- Perfectly happy. Ground them-- So what? They like it at home & I could take every thing and every privilege they had. They could not have cared less!! Infact, my 16 yr old said a couple weeks ago, "Mom, Ty for raising us not to care of we have anyone". 😂 I said, "That wasn't"t me, little Mr. Designer Shoes $2K Computer In My Room My 24 Yr Old Brother Isn't Asked To Pay Rent And Pa-Paw Pays Insurance On The 7 Cars Pa-Paw Bought For Him We're Inheriting Houses & Open Land, EACH..... I had an abusive father and it always felt like no matter what I did, he'd always hurt me. So I was always escaping and running away.
However, I NEVER wanted to disappoint my mother. Because I loved her. And because she was the only one I felt safe around.
All she had to do was say "Robert, I'm so disappointed in you" and I was sent into tears.
I feel the same way towards my Heavenly Father. I've come to be used to physical consequences. But the thing I fear the the most is hearing Him say "I never knew you. Depart from Me." I fear that whenever I fall in sin again and again, I disappoint Him each and every time. And that's what hurts me the most.😢

I have faith that if you can find a passage in the Bible that says what you're looking for, the context will explain why that's wrong. When my brother and I were growing up, my friend was the belt and kneeling in the corner. I am GenX in my late 40s, and my dad is European, and we are christian. This is all true, but you don't want to destroy a close relationship with your kids. If you abuse the punishment, it is not good. You need to bring trust and respect and reasoning to disciplinary action, all out of love and protection. Amen to truth ✝️ ❤❤❤

@npcetsdx7310 The old testament laws have been made, by Jesus, non-relavent and are no longer something we do. The only Old Testament laws we still follow are the moral laws, such as the 10 Commandments.
Such things like, do not murder, steal, etc.

Growing up I was a good kid just because I was fearful of my dad who never yelled at me or punished me.
I had a lot of respect for him who is smart, brilliant and generous to his subordinates.
I'm 47yrs old and too this day I think about how my actions would affect my parents. I'm glad they whipped my butt when I needed it cause it taught me right from wrong and to think about others before I went off and thought I was going to do something stupid.. I still have both parents thank god and I cherish everything they done for me.

This is true. I used to fear my parents and then that fear turned into respect. Now I’m working going to school to become a Veterinarian. The discipline I receive as a child helped make me i to who I am today.

Yup. While I had a tremendous upbringing, I always feared my dad. Shit, I’m 35 years old and I’m 4’ taller and 50lbs heavier than my dad and I’m still afraid of him. Lol. It’s called “Dad’s power.” We kids were rewarded for good behavior and punished for bad behavior. That’s all there is to it.
I was never treated this way by my parents, I feel like this doesn’t work for all kids, mistakes help you learn. For me, being disciplined this way as a child helped me learn when it’s best to stay quiet and keep to myself. By the age of 5 I no longer needed that type of discipline. But for some kids, it will only cause them to act out more

Amen. My earthly father definitely failed us kids. Though he taught us to be strong and disciplined us when we messed up. He took it too far but I get what he was preaching.
My son is autistic so it took us a while to get the hang of disciplining him. Right now we give him ten at the end of the week if he's good all week and if he's bad we take a dollar. If he hits us its an automatic loss of all of it. It works. Also we take privileges too. We try to pick punishments and rewards that align with the real world.
If you have no remorse for the things you do, then you have no fear of God because the reason you are is the direct result of God. AKA, THE REASON YOU EXIST.

My mom told me to never do drugs and stuff. And she never had to be harsh on me. And I turned out well. She's happy that while I'm not perfect, I don't do drugs and stuff. She says she can trust me with preety much everything.
I was just having this conversation with my fiancee last night. We must fear God, and a child should have fear of their parents to remain respectful. There is a line between discipline and abuse, but if you're a follower the Word will show you the line clearly.

It's not punishment! It's teaching and coaching! When done under God's direction, physical punishment is a tool to make people better.
We spiritually grow because of pain. There is no growth without pain or discomfort.
The "belt" used to just be a reminder for kids of what is to come in life. Except the one holding the belt in adult life will not be your loving parents. It will be job loss, death, disaster, mistakes... They hurt a lot more than a righteous whoopin

Not respecting parents is among the worst thing ls a human could do.
I'm 57 years old and I am still scared spitless of disappointing or crossing my parents boundaries. My daddy died when I was 16 and I lost my mom in 2003. I just KNEW that they would not kill me, just make me wish they had. Interesting thing that I have realized is that I don't remember the "beatings". My parents were very specific about words. I was never called stupid, but I heard right away that my choice was stupid. And so on. And I was not blessed with children, but I'm going to give some priceless advice. Parents HAVE to be a united force. Even if they disagreed the punishment decreed by one parent HAD to be upheld by the other.

Married with 3 adults children who have there own families and we all use to fear my dad he would only need to stare at us and we knew what he wanted he never once hit us but just the way he would look and give gestures with his eyes and eyebrows we would know if we where doing or saying something disrespectful. Our mum on the other hand will try to defend us but even that never worked we where still scared and afraid but it taught us to respect others so that we where respected
