  • Since the dawn of time, there have been a select few who have been singled out as different. To narrow that down a bit, I mean, in this case at least, people who are left-handed. These are folk who make up just a fraction of the human race yet are the culprits behind one of the watch community’s biggest faux-pas: wearing a watch on the right-although many would say wrong-wrist. Who are these left-handed people, and why are they here? Are they wrong? Let’s find out.

I got my hands swatted with a ruler in school too. Luckily, my parents took me out of her class when I finally told what was happening. I’m horribly left handed. I played baseball as a young girl and threw with my left hand and caught with my left hand. I was super quick taking my glove off and on. My left arm is thinner and more muscular than my right arm. I’m having to work out my right hand and arm, as they are weaker. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I am right handed and, therefore, wear a watch on my left wrist. Nonetheless, I also have a "destro" watch. There are advantages, particularly with dive watches, as the crown is now shielded by the forearm rather than being exposed on the end of the wrist. That said, I play cricket, golf and guitar with a left hander's grip, so maybe I am walking the line of switching.

OH MY GOODNESS! FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT, I THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY! in elementary, all of my teachers went out of their way to make me write right handed, it was terrible i could never do it. none of them would teach whilst using my left hand, i always figured it was because they were all right handed and just assumed that teaching writing is the same regardless of handedness and it would be easier to just teach me the same way they do it. i firmly believe if youre right handed, and cannot write with your left, you cannot properly teach a left handed person to write well. i struggled for years, to this day my handwriting is bad with my left hand and impossible with my right. it is legible but one could describe it as well, elementary level smh in sports it was the same thing, forced me to throw right handed, kick righty etc, i admit it was much easier an adjustment to throw and kick righty than it was to write, again i still cannot write with my right hand. so now, i eat with my left, always my first step is my left foot, i drink with my left, write and catch but throw and kick with my right. i can switch hands for drinking and using utensils but it feel super awkward cutting a steak with my left hand and picking up a fork or cup with my right. luckily my padre was thoughtful enough to get me a left handed violin when he found out i wanted to learn. bless him and thank you for coming to my TedTalk
p.s. i am a true lefty, left handed, left eyed, and left footed smh i was born into a family of all right handed people save myself. and my big sister married into a family of all left handed people save her husband....the world is a crazy place yall

I am a lefty and always wear my watch on the left, unless I am testing a watch after servicing it then I'll wear that on my right wrist as well, anyhow this isn't really a left-handed watch, it's supposed to be worn on the left wrist, the reason the crown is on the left is so it doesn't stick in the back of your hand, a lot of Russian dive watches are like this, since they a large screw down cap over the crown which sticks out quite a bit.
And if this was a proper left-handed watch then it would wind with the crown rolling away from you like a normal watch with the crown on the right, and because it's a right-handed movement flipped around you have wind with the crown towards you, I normally wind these by flipping it around and wind with my right hand.
These days people just wear their watch on which ever wrist they like, the original reason people were encouraged to wear the new fangled wrist watch on the left wrist is apart from right handedness is dominant is also the least used limb, was watches were not shock resistant so a balance staff replacement was a common repair, and wearing it on the left hopefully it was less knocked around.

Right handed and wear my watch on the same wrist. Why? Because my mother does. She’s my all and she rocks her Cartier awesomely!

I would wear this even though I am right handed because that the crown is more than protected pointed to my body BUT its because of the shape on my Panerai where the crown guard actually sometimes dig into my hand when I wear it which is minor inconvenience.

They say 2500 left handed people die every year from using right handed tools.
I’m glad winding and setting my watch won’t lead to my demise.

I’m a south paw, so wear my Apple Watch on my right wrist. Leaving the right one for my mechanical watches. No need to worry about how much battery power is left in the AW when I need to see the time at anytime.

I'm LH, I wear my watch on the RH, it makes sense. Apart from using a computer pointing device, I'm not at all proficient at using my RH, I'm left-footed, prefer to use my optically inferior left eye, listen with my left ear ....
