Yessss....! The client who wanted the active length ‘edge’ shape nails. Fortunately, she understood my sense of humor when I bluntly told her that it would look like she would have 10 little hooves on her hands. LOL 😝 And she wanted neon green! It was Halloween and it was a hand filing nightmare! I did them. She was back a few days later for a change with flowers, and an apology. I never want to do that shape again.
@@andreawhisenant2718 I was in school when this happened as well. Now that same client is a student in nail technology. I have nothing but love for her and hope she never gets a task like that. Orrrrr... Maybe next week, I will show up wanting Russian almond nails in hot pink... LOL
@@andreawhisenant2718 I can imagine, I haven’t tried my hand at that shape yet. Tbh I’m not in any hurry to try one out on myself, let alone another person 😅
I've been doing nails over 3 years and have always been in fear of this. Thankfully, I haven't had anyone tell me they don't like their nails. At this point I'm pretty good at visualising what people want and am a good judge of whether a design is going to look good or not, so if it's a design I don't think is going to look good I make sure to ask them to have a good look before the hand goes in the lamp. I think it's up to us to look ahead and offer our expertise to hopefully try to prevent them getting something they aren't going to like.
Setting clear expectations with customers/clients is critical to any good client/professional relationship. In any business, this is the best rule of thumb.
I LOVE you guys. Whenever I am dealing with an issue at work (pretty new nail tech here) I look up your channels to see if you have a video on it. Had a terrible client today and this is just what I needed!! Thank you!!!
This reminds me of the time that I rather infamously told my old nail tech that I wanted to do a purple french manicure. Lavender nail bed color, with a dark purple tip. She looked at me sideways, and was like okay..... Needless to say, she did it, and I hated it, and had her change it out.
Last time I went to a nail tech was to get a black tip ombré and it was HORRIBLE. Leave that said, it helped me push towards my nail tech career AND I did the nails i originally wanted on myself and was like “how easy was that!”
I have a system to prevent this for myself. At particular parts of my service I have my client look and ask them "how is this so far for you? Is there anything you especially like or anything you would like different". Or something along those lines
If worked Customerservice for over 20 years you can be tack full with your response & get your point across. But never say I’m sorry/apologize stand by your work.
Tracy I agree with you 100% I would do the same thing to someone if they did not want to pay that's one reason I only like family as far as being young because not wanting pay. Saying they don't like it but do just not wanting to pay for it. Like you said communication is the key!!!
Thanks for all the awesome tips 💖I work at a dealership and I have a mirror so I can look at myself talking to customers lol when u are smiling u come off better on the phone 🤷🏻♀️never thought about it for nails cool tip💖💅🏼
Lol! For those nails I wouldn’t recommend doing, I suggest something else or say to them that I wouldn’t normally put those colors together... sometimes they get the hint. Most of the time they love the outcome they asked for anyways 😖
We had a 16 year old come in and showed us a picture from Pinterest on what she wanted. We told her that we do not do air brushing and her picture had that done. She wanted a full set of coffin nails. My Nail Tech has 20yrs of acrylic experience. She did an awesome job. She told the young girl that she needed to pay before she applied the polish. She did. They looked very close to the picture she brought in. She hand painted this girls design. She got home and complained to her mother that it wasn't done like the picture, plus they got smeared while she drove home. She wanted her money back. I told her to come back in and I would redo them. She came in and I repainted them. I used a gel polish so they would be dry before she left. She never complained to me. The next thing I know, she reported my Salon to the BBB of Ohio. Never in my 20 years of experience had I had a client complain about our Nail Service. I am so upset. I will not refund her money, because they told me that she went elsewhere to get them fixed. I wish I would have watched this video earlier, I would have cut them all off like Tracy did.
Yes had customer and three weeks later tell me can i get a fullset. I forgot to tell you they fell off the second day. My young nails acrylics dont just fall out lol
I'm going to be completely real my biggest fear is a client not liking the job that I did on her nails what she gots to say about it her feedback is what I worry about and fear the most I haven't start taking clients because I don't have my license as of yet I will be going to take my state board testing and May and hopefully I will get my license but that is definitely my biggest fear.
I have a question for Tracey: *_did u just clip off that woman’s nails or like drilled them off too exposing the nail bed? Didn’t she resist?id expect them to just run off when u try to do that?? I don’t suppose u left clipped off nail chunks on her nails??_*
Tracey got the first one before she ever realized.. clipped the rest and that was it. She could remove the rest at home or pay someone else to remove them.
A new client last week. She was picky and difficult. Bossing me around. I gave her what she wanted. An hour later she sends me a text saying she wants to change 4 nails. Blamed me for the color she chose. She wanted to change them for free. I refused. She told me she'll never be back and blocked me.
Like actors getting the odd bad review, it's going to happen at some point. Unless they are all bad reviews, just keep going! Perhaps in the Terms and Conditions put something to the effect that you never let a client walk out the door with nails she doesn't like - you remove them instead! There are way too many con artists these days. Like the people who buy an outfit, wear it for an occasion and then return it, make up stains and all...
The first week of learning how to do nails I did not do my best and her set fell off with in a week. I offered to do a free set, explaining how a free set looks like. I have better materials and more practice. I took her for a second time and the only issue she had was the thumb nails top coats wasn't put on properly, which is an easy buff and another top coat. She didn't want to fix but only pay 15 then come back and pay 5 when fixed, when I asked for $20. That set was gorgeous but Immediately respectfully in a nice way fired her as my client cause she didn't see my worth:) I got my nail clippers next to me now lmao. At the end of the day, as long as its respectful I highly recommend you do it after the second occasion. You will always get new clients, that's your time and money!
Well, if it was yoyr fault on thumb nails she shouldn't have had to pay, when u first started I explained that to my clients that my work is not perfect and everyone makes mistakes. I then explained if anything happened to their nails or sonthing with the hel paint happened ,( any lifting chipping smudging,) within the first 48 hours , because sometimes they don't notice the problems immediately . That clients yoyhaf only wanted the set she had paid for in the beginning , you didn't do it right and they will off, so you owed her that full service; then her thumbs weren't done properly, so you owed her to redo them , your lucky she even paid $5, if anything you ripped that poor girl off.
