1. I'm Black... and I work in a Vietnamese salon 2. We all have carts with our tools and supplies. About half my stuff is hot pink. BOTH of these are the reasons that many of my walk-in clients choose me when they're glancing around my salon. They come back to me bc I try to give 1. (Near) Perfect-looking finished work 2. Natural looking acrylic toe/finger nails -- that don't fail. 3. Super clean cuticles and nail plates after the mani/pedi 4. My glowing personality
I used to showcase my cleaning skills and the amount of new clients I gained from that alone was amazing. Not to mention they told me that they watched the video. But I also keep a very clean and inviting SCENT nail room! You smell my aromatherapy or wall scents way more than monomer!
Learning so much from the both of you. Thank you so much for investing your time in teaching me (us), it shows how you want ALL nail tech's to make it in the industry. ❤
You probably dont care at all but does anybody know of a tool to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the account password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Jax Aries I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
These are great tips! I love that you said a clean shop, but also shop maintenance! I’ve been in a salon with ceiling tiles missing, or they are bulging and stained from water damage.
Showcasing the glitter mixes along with several polishes to get the color suggestions of the week on a shelf has been my M.O. for decades along with a collection of just lovely soft/nude shades for my more professional people. Right now I'm gearing up for my coming back full time since the shut down shelf. Inspired by our summer/spring weather. I have 6 different blues/teals/aquas with mix and match glitters and glitter polishes for mermaid under the sea looks. Putting together rich purples and pinks for a fairytale inspiration. Letting people know what is inspiring you helps too. Great job guys as ALWAYS guiding and inspiring even us seasoned veterans lol
I agree with everything y'all said and one more thing I feel that make sure your nails look good because if you don't care about your nails how can you care about anyone else.
Regarding showing on social media how you clean: There is an absolute abundance of mini vlogs, especially on tiktok, showing these kinds of things from all sorts of businesses. People showing how they set up their cafe for opening shift, how they clean up when they are closing and so on. If you can make an aesthetic relaxed video in cleaning the salon, maybe even with some asmr elements I can totally see this being popular.
The Instagram stories where something is messy and then you ask the viewer for help cleaning up and it says "tap to clean" with the next photo being everything tidy were very popular as well🧼🧹✨😊
@@youngnailsinc oooh I can totally see that working. Somehow seeing workstations being cleaned is almost as satisfying as watching top coat go on a freshly filed and shaped nail
Thank you for this video! Loved it! When I was first training to do nails in college I loved acrylic and hated gel. Now it’s the other way round! I consider myself a specialist in gel rather than acrylic!
OMG, TRACY! I am living for those black witchy nails!!! I used to not like the stilleto shape...until I started wearing them. Now I'm sad if my nails are not weapons. 🤣
Great information. Thank you for always doing great things for helping everyone in business. You all are so great. I always look how clean it is. That is for a lot of places.
Great info! LOVE this vid thank you! I also wonder if it might be worth asking the younger generations what it is they look for in nails and a nail tech... If you have that demographic available take advantage of it and ask... Their answers might surprise you! Thanks again guys! 💜
This was a great video, as they all are, but your ideas can really amp up someone’s business! I like classy uniforms, all black or all techs wearing a nice apron, adorned with Salon’s name. Another cool way to stand out is provide all customers, if it can be afforded, a small gift, like a cuticle oil with your name and number on the back. So many clever ways to stand out but cleanliness always should be first and foremost.👍😁
Aiming to be the best version of yourself, exuding kindness and cleanliness and a genuine passion for your craft will draw people in and keep them coming back :)
LVE U GUYS💕 Perfect video! I’ve just started few month doing nails and I’ve been custom mixing my colours 1stly because financially I can’t afford loads of different gel but 2ndly because as you said it helps to stand out from the crowd😉👍🏽
That cleanliness thing hit home. When I was doing the job attachment aspect of nail school, the station I was placed was not clean and back then being a teenager and not knowing what I know now(alil less than 15 years) voiced that it seemed no one knew how to clean the station WHILE I was cleaning it without being asked. Funny thing is, I got sent home after I was done. I am person that always took care in cleaning anything customers have to come in contact with or see.
Finding my rhythm still but this was an awesome podcast! I’m learning that 3D art is definitely my strong suit. Couldn’t figure out what I could possibly specialize in since I find I’m quite “standardized” with any artistry, but I did some super cute 3D plasticine art and I was like wow…I’m good at it, and I freaking love doing it!
I really wish there were videos on how pedicure chairs are cleaned. There are too many that do only surface cleaning and not correctly to avoid spreading fungus’s!
The dust is awful do the dust collector really help keep flying dust down to a minimum? And I do a friends nails and she walks out without paying 😏 I've had to STOP HER twice and let her know how much she has to pay me, do anyone have that problem? Thanks for the video💐
Hello, I love you guys show, teaching me a lot. I have a question and wondering if you can help me. I am working at a salon with commission payments, I am going to have my own salon suite, should I build clients from the salon Im working at or wait until I have my own?
If you are currently working on commission, it’s good to build a steady clientele to have more steady income. It’s also important to build your clientele now as some of these clients may follow you when you start your own suite. However, keep in mind that when you do start your suite, these clients aren’t guaranteed to follow, so work on building your social media to continue to attract new clients.
Barbacide offers certification after you complete an hour long training on their website. If you’re licensed your local nail supply store will also have disinfectants.
Let's Touch and Let's Dance disinfectants by Isabel Cristina! You can order from Medicool! It's waaaay better and more economical than Barbicide AND your metal implements wont rust in it! You can leave you implements in it all day with no issues or worries! You gave enough to worry about!
What do you do being a nail technician!!! and you notice some other nail tech doing some unclean stuff like using rusted toe nail clippers..also not having any to offer that are not rusted.. or demanding an employee pick a towel up off the floor and using it right In front of the customer for a pedicures. Re using nondisinfectable files .... solutions 1. Brought to the owners attention. (Nothing changed) 2. Offered to bring own stuff... was turned down by the owner. Nail tech to nail tech do you report it.? Do you forfit employment. ....
One way I’ll stand out is staying open longer than the other salons . If all the salons close at 8 I’m staying open until 12. There’s nothing like a late night food spot, or club, so why not a late night salon? How else ima make $2000 a day 💯💯
It’s disgusting to see major well known nail techs when they record lives or videos and the desk is dirty and you see the same bits in the same dirty dappen dish. I love to watch the work but it’s disgusting
Really appreciate your biz talks, they are like all the things someday I wondered and no school gives. Just learn from other's experience. T H A N K Y O U SO M U C H from Spain!

@Jax Aries It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy!

Good topic! Thanks! 🥰

I’ve noticed ppl say that a lot when they see prices. Ppl want to determine my value based on their budgets it doesn’t work like that
Thank you 💕

Pajama day had me spitting out my morning tea ☕️ 😱🙈
I’m guilty of pajama day every other Sunday where my friend turns up in pjs too 😂
This is crazy! I was literally already wiping down my gel bottles as I'm watching this🤣
I really wish there were videos on how pedicure chairs are cleaned. There are too many that do only surface cleaning and not correctly to avoid spreading fungus’s!

Maybe booking her like a regular client may help where u require a card on file
Are you sure that’s a friend?
Once you finish the acrylic or gel application, before you paint, collect her money!
Start collecting before you start? Or require a deposit?
I only have a mediocre dust collector off of Amazon and YES! It helps tremendously!

What is the best disinfectant to use at home when doing other people's nails or my own as well. (Like friends and family)
Barbacide offers certification after you complete an hour long training on their website. If you’re licensed your local nail supply store will also have disinfectants.
Barbacide is probably the most common disinfectant
Let's Touch and Let's Dance disinfectants by Isabel Cristina! You can order from Medicool! It's waaaay better and more economical than Barbicide AND your metal implements wont rust in it! You can leave you implements in it all day with no issues or worries! You gave enough to worry about!
