Sad turkey story. My mother would feed the animals behind the house in NJ. There was a female turkey that came for years. When my mom past away two years ago I went to the house. It was standing at the back door waiting for her. I have the picture. 😭
I know it's not recommended to feed wild animals, and it's sad that the turkey is now confused, but I bet it brought your mom so much happiness to feed her every day.
Turkeys are not dangerous animals, they are harmless and altruistic animals that give you food and we should be grateful to them. In my opinion, the fact that humans are multiplying is causing terrorism in nature, not turkeys.
I stopped at a stop sign a couple of years ago, and a wild turkey ran up to my open window, gobble-gobble-gobbled really loudly and angrily at me, and then chased my car as I drove away. I think they're quite territorial and utterly fearless. 😅
I live in central Virginia, I have probably a dozen turkeys and one Tom who lives in my yard. Yes, I feed them. I live on 5 heavily wooded, remote acres. I’ve never seen any aggression from any of them, including the Tom. He’s certainly never pecked my car or chased me. Where I grew up people kept turkeys as pets, which granted, are different from wild ones but I’ve genuinely never seen a truly mean one. Swans and geese on the other hand…
A moose ran into family friend’s living room for the very same reason, caused chaos for a good minute and ran back out the scenic window turned open wall, without even a scratch on him. You can really appreciate the sheer size, up close like this! Rut time in north is.. interesting. The moose population here also like to get drunk on fermented apples, do weird things and end up in unexpected places. A sober moose is unpredictable enough, but a booze moose is something else!
@@janemiettinen5176 That's nuts. My uncle lived in Alaska for years and he always said to steer clear of moose because you never know what they're gonna do
Turkeys are not dangerous animals, they are harmless and altruistic animals that give you food and we should be grateful to them. In my opinion, the fact that humans are multiplying is causing terrorism in nature, not turkeys.
Wild Turkeys are no joke. I have been chased by three at one time and I'm not ashamed to tell you I ran as fast as i could. They're territorial and pretty vicious. And huge.
I lived in Westampton for a while, and there were a couple of turkey families that would come out of the woods and walk around the neighborhood. The turkeys are a pretty common sight in south Jersey.
Was in a random traffic backup on Clements Bridge road after leaving the Edge Fitness, it was a turkey walking up to all the car’s driverside windows. Must of been this guy!
Hopefully the news story will result in some kind of punishment for her. She at least deserves a warning, if not a fine. She is not doing this animal any favors. He should be foraging in the woods, not taking handouts and losing its fear of humans. It's not a freaking Chickadee.
@@AresCosmos The t***p shirt is disgusting, yes. But that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that she's flouting a law and endangering not only this bird, but her own neighbors.
I think this turkey is misunderstood I mean it's like they said, Turkeys can be aggressive and territorial maybe he sees the town as part of his territory, and he attacks unfamiliar people and their vehicles because the turkey sees them as trespassers. At least that's what I believe.
After seeing this video I am curious myself at how smart a turkey could be and I was surprised at just how curious and smart they actually are. You could be right since they remember every little detail and recognize when something is out of place. It’s why hunting them sometimes like my dad and I used to do when I was a kid was really difficult because they just knew we didn’t belong in their territory.
I had a wild turkey show up and try to take over the front area of my house under a bush, my sister lured it away. Never seen one before in my area, so my house wasn't apart of his territory and I stay in Detroit. Lately deer and other animals are showing up because my area is quite but it's still the inner city.
Once again, misguided "hopes and prayers". That "kind woman" is not only breaking the law but causing a wild animal to lose its natural fear of humans. One day, a driver is not going to be so kind to this animal and that will be the end of this town's mascot.
@@IvannaBong05 Exactly. Because some irresponsible person either had him as a pet or didn't try and get a loose turkey in an area that would be safe via wild life, this is what happens.
