      if I could have a storyteller beast with revel bathroom and cassette, … I wouldnt be debating myself and watching this video
      As of now, I am leaning towards the storyteller… provided dealers still have slots available for this year and I get over my fear of having that little porta potty. I am not into showering or doing my “things” in public places … so this what is stopping me now
      The halo shower in the STO? I am fine with that, but the toilet 🚽 … 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

    Nice job Chad! Thanks also to Shawn for sharing his van and thoughts. I'm like Shawn in that I really cannot see myself relying on public restrooms all the time and definitely have some hang-ups about the outdoor pooping but I also really like the advantages that not having a bathroom affords you in the StoryTeller. I know it is difficult topic to discuss but I really think a video about how you poop in the woods safely and in an environmentally friendly manner would do really well and maybe convince some of us that are more squeamish about it that it isn't so bad.

    Just looked up prices for both rigs - StoryTeller Classic base price around USD$157,000 and Revel is $202,000. The insulation/no rattling, being able to run microwave and A/C off the battery, the flexibility and the price have sealed the deal for me on the Storyteller, although not going to buy until I have a chance to look at the upcoming Storyteller AWD Transit and decide if I need true 4wd or if AWD would suffice. Love the space saving shower and the front bed, which my big dog would love (she snuggles with me for a while then chosses to go to her own bed). Thank you for doing this comparison!

    Thank you for the informative video. I purchased my 2020 Revel in 01/20 (pre pandemic pricing); back then there was about a $30k difference between the two vans. Demand has since changed price and/or availability. I’ve done upgrades including Roamrig (4 lithium battery conversion), Glss lounge with microwave, suspension/tires (265s), and Owl products (tire carrier/ladder, bike carrier with med size box.) I do like the dedicated shower/ toilet space in the Revel. As (2) full-time travelers, I can see why you would prefer the additional floor space and build quality in the STO. All the best:)

    Their are RV shows in Florida that you can buy that same Revel for 120,000 and the Storyteller almost 200,000 ,that is a big deal of money. I hear a lot of people up north say they pay 170,000 for the Revel. that makes a difference in deciding what to buy. The 2022 classic mode sells for $157.747, that's not bad for what you get.

    Good side by side comparison guys. As a former Revel owner I think you guys nailed the positives and minuses on the Revel. We couldn't do a Mode because we felt the back was too claustrophobic with cabinets on both sides of the bed, especially if you are taller, and while I like the Murphy bed concept and desk, especially if we needed to work like you guys do, but to use it you sacrifice a lot of storage space.

    Sleeping width wise rather than length wise completely changes the floor plan. Then there is the bathroom problem, in which the storyteller fails completely. I would love to have either since my RV is an old Chevy Express delivery van, but if I had my choice? Well I guess it would depend a little on whether I had a partner or not.

  • @amydelpiere9315
    @amydelpiere9315 2 роки тому +1

    The "open" bathroom concept of the Storyteller is a little more difficult for me to imagine using while traveling with my DH. The advantage over the fixed cassette toilet of the Revel's bathroom, however, is that when in your spot camping you can move it outside into a little potty tent. Said potty tent can also be used for showering and changing when the weather isn't too cold. Either way, if you are not alone in your van you'll need to get used to very little privacy on the toilet. I think some music, singing, or just telling your partner to 'get out' is acceptable. Hey, the Storyteller comes with that portable speaker!
    This video was so helpful. Thank you, Chad, Paul, and Shawn!

Push, hold and release and the seat will go to that position automatically.

    Chad and Paul, another great video. Thank you! One correction for future video is that the storyteller has a "portable toilet"; not a "cassette toilet". I know Storyteller incorrectly calls it a cassette toilet in some of their literature (or even mixes the name of the two types of toilets and mentions "Portable Cassette toilet", but that is incorrect. A cassette toilet is a toilet that is fixed inside the van and is not removable. Only its cassette (the tank) is removable and typically from the outside through a access hatch/panel. A portable toilet, like the one Storyteller includes with their vans, allows for the entire unit to be moved/removed. Just thought I'd mention it as the confusion between a cassette toilet and portable toilet seems to be getting more common so thought we could nip it in the bud! Ha. Thank again for all your great storyteller videos!

    I wonder why people don't just get a truck over camper like the Lance Long Bed 1172 for example. So much more room, can have good solar, lithium, even a genny for emergencies or when weather issues get in the way. They are way more comfortable layout, without playing move the cushions. Then you can drop the jacks, drive out the truck and you have a truly capable 4x4 of your choice to go exploring. Probably a 75k savings. The last thing I would want in the middle of nowhere is Mercedes repairs.

      We have a cassette toilet so no black tank to worry about. We haven't found we needed to clean the gray tank. There are all kinda of solutions you can buy to do so, but we've never felt the need. We do sanitize the freshwater tanks a few times per year or if water has been sitting in the tank in the heat for an extended period of time, as we drink from the fresh water tank.

    Definitely a really good video. It opens your eyes to a lot of different things and having a perspective from both people who actually on those vans was very valuable. The double tap The dislike button was funny hahahah . Thanks !!
    It would be really nice to hear both of your opinions and experience with maintenance and mechanical issues. Obviously both of the vans are built on the same chassis but it would be great to hear about the things you’ve gone through replaced fixed or had so-called nightmares with.

    CAV's GLSS would solve his work space problem as well as providing the same table you have for the front. They could also replace the roof rack to meet his needs but nobody can compete with your Volta system. My only dislike on the STO is sleeping under cabinets. I have a feeling STO may be considering a new Mode with a fixed bathroom or at least an option . That could be a game changer for alot of potential buyers. Great job on this video. Just have to decide what works for your needs.

      We have been sleeping under the cabinets in the Mode since October of last year. The claustrophobic feeling lasted about a week and once we learned to duck in/out of the bed without hitting our head on the cabinet headliner, we are absolutely fine with the design. Those cabinets store a lot of stuff, there’s plenty of head space under the cabinets even with two plush pillows under the head and really, the only reason you might not want the cabinets there is if you would prefer to sit in your bed. But for that purpose you have lounge in the Mode.

      Storyteller uses see through pricing, so no haggling down from MSRPs. Go to their website and see what the listed prices are- that's how much you'll pay. We used Cathy from La Mesa RV in Sanford, FL and had a wonderful experience with them.

    How comfortable is the storyteller groove lounge for an adult as a regular car seat during a long drive ? It looks very vertical, can it recline and still be used as a car seat with the seatbelt ? All the reviews I've seen never comment on this, only the lounge features. Thanks.

    The Revel is great and the issue about power is handled by a company that specializes in the Revel to offer unlimited power in the same space as a complete install..! The story teller is great too, that HALO bathroom, Oh my and the ability to fully stand and sit anywhere, NO squeaks, WOW, but in that model a tiny cassette-WELL, Storyteller still wins IMO....

    No one talks about off-roading! I would really love to hear how both vehicles do off-road, fully loaded. I realized you have the same chassis, but did either build address angle of descent/ascent, top-heaviness, water storage throwing it off balance, can a wench actually work to get unstuck?

    • @anthoneyurtz5689
      @anthoneyurtz5689 3 роки тому +4

      They dont do great but can handle light terrain. It is a 9k lb 10 foot high van, you already know how it offroads. Winches get them freed from being stuck.

    Ah I’ve been watching videos on the Revel for years now. I’m in Canada, so the Storyteller is not available up here (although I could import the van in from a dealer in the US, but at a much higher cost and issues with insurance etc.). I have two little kids too, 4 and 6 years old, the Revel passenger seat is terrible, while the Storyteller is absolutely ideal. My wife needs that enclosed bathroom in the Revel, and although I could live with the one in the Storyteller, we are a motocross family, and we have a ton of dirty gear which would fit nicely in the Revel’s bathroom. Having a dedicated second bed in the Storyteller is really clutch, even though there is 3rd party solution for the revel but it is cramped. I like the Revel’s garage for two kid’s motocross bikes (electric) but I think I could pull off the same thing in the Storyteller. The Volta system and roof of the Storyteller is also incredible. The revel is also about 20,000 CAD cheaper than the prices I see for the Storyteller in CAD ($234 k vs. $254 k CAD). The insulation of the Storyteller is also very nice since I do live in Canada and would love to boondock with my family in the dead of winter. 360 camera would be awesome too as I have that in my SUV right now.

    I like both vans for different reasons. The best review Ive ever seen. Yet I keep hearing folks upgrade
    after all that money. I wished these companies would listen more to the client. Are there companies that build to your specifications? I'm looking for one to use mainly for traveling with family. I would get the storyteller if there could be a twin bed instead.

    • @ChadandPaul
      @ChadandPaul  3 роки тому +1

      We didn’t put the price in the video in case things change. For STO they use transparent pricing, so the price on their website is the price u get it for. With Winnebago it all depends on how much of a discount you can get from a dealer. Last time I check I think the revel was more expensive than the storyteller.

    One of the reason I choose to purchase a used Travato GL was to enjoy a nice RV with Volta while we determine our exact needs. Won’t really know until we try it out for awhile and didn’t want to wait for inventory. Great job on this. Orlando is a scene stealer!

    I've just started researching adventure vans and I must say this almost convinces me that we go with Storyteller. Really good job from everyone explaining day to day living in one of these vans. Our intent is to drive one through Mexico, down to Costa Rica , Panama and maybe beyond and the Storyteller seems the vehicle in which to do that.

  • @toycarcollector
    @toycarcollector 3 роки тому +3

    Similarities are both are vans and both have a factory somewhere in the US which is the only competent repair center. Difference is the the story teller is made with quality in mind and the Winnebago is made by a company that barely cares. One is put together by careful craftsman and the other is jammed together as fast as possible with power screwdrivers.
