    Good info for a newer aspiring grower like me. Did my first seasonal outdoor grow from last march on until October and liked the process and my modest 8 oz four plant crop so much I decided to set up for autoflowers between seasonal outdoor grows and will be trying your tips out for sure. Lots of mistakes for both the outdoor and autoflower grows but also lots of learning and fun along the way as well. First thing I wish I would’ve known about autos is that they’re A novelty selling point not worth wasting your time growing. This is 15 years of experience speaking. You’re not getting faster or easier bud. You are just getting lower quality. You could veg your photos out and flip them in the same amount of time. The only benefit you’re looking at he’s not having to flip or worry about your light schedule being interrupted. If you’re mowing to invest time and money into growing one might as well not take any risk and go for the highest quality possible. There’s not a worse feeling than wasting all those weeks on some low quality bud it’s really not satisfying. I’ve tried hydroponics, auto flowers, synthetic fertilizers, organics, 2 gallon pots, 7 gallon pots, dozens of breeders. Everyone has different preferences and climates but for the most part the best route Is an organic living soil grow with Gaia green amendments earth worm castings, Michorizzae, and some form of manure, top dress every four weeks. And you pointed out another con for me. There’s no correcting an auto flower. It’s the roots at the bottom of the pot and it goes into flower before it even has two nodes, or you overwater, underwater, overfeed, underfeed. PH wrong. It’s over. No fixing it. With all of the amazing genetics flooding the market I find it hard to understand how the auto flower industry is still striving other than amateur growers who bought into the idea of novelty. I would much rather take this very little effort of flipping my lights and having control over light leaks, especially having control over veg time. There is nothing more frustrating than an auto that produces you a quarter ounce of bulk and you spent go to $15 a seed and wasted up to three months of your life on. I’ve maybe had two out of a dozen auto flowers that were worth growing. And those numbers aren’t good enough for me

    Shocking the plant with such a small duration is not advised. I found the best is low stress training when one or two are reaching. With a 80 day Harvest I prefer super soil with a bloom boost toward the end. And only water half of the pot without any water coming out the bottom. This way they can have constant oxygen.

      I just planted my first 4 plants. 4 x Auto. I have settled on LST before you posted but glad of the confirmation. Thank you. Can you confirm something for me. Are you saying you never have run off? I am able water as slowly as possible and was planning to have very little but your post suggest you might have no run off. If that is the case I would love to follow that on try #1.

    • @t.b.bishop9749
      @t.b.bishop9749 3 роки тому

      After re reading I am quite sure you do not generate run off. Thank you very much for posting because I was curious about this exactly. With all the talk of run off I was going to over water them but something in my gut knew consistant run off could not be good for roots.
      I bought a super soil, best one I could and added about 60% all purpose and 40% bloom. Was very tempted to get seaweed ectract, rhino skin and bud candy but I decided to just keep 1st attempt simple. What would you recommend to put on my shopping list in this regard if I can ask you? Those 3 I see coming up again and again but I am one of the newest growers period so would love to know which nutrients you rate.

    • @buckmaster3594
      @buckmaster3594 3 роки тому +2

      @@t.b.bishop9749 .....hay t.b.,... first thing I learned, to simplify your growing and to give the plant what it needs. So having said that, I pick up the super soil from a company called "coast of Maine", stonington blend. The thing with super soil its active and you don't need to add anything up until the flower stage. When they talk about flushing it's because they add nutrients to a poor medium such as Coco coir that has no nutrients at all. Then you run into pH problems and then you run into overfeeding, and that's when you have to flush everything out to save the plant. I run autoflowers in a 3 gallon fiber material, that way it gets the oxygen. When I do water that's only half of it, take a marker or a coin or a pencil and put it on one half of the pot where you just add water, and then after a few days when I gets dry, you know to water the opposite side without it leaking through the bottom, although you have to start very slow because the water will run off the top. And don't use tap water with chlorine. Toward the end at about 6 weeks they'll start to Bud, that's when you need nutrients for the promotion of flowers and the resin that will give the bud a nice texture and flavor. The bloom enhancer I found off of Amazon was called flower fuel, super premium. NPK 1-34-32, good luck out there.

You just pH the water, measure your fertilizer for the water, change the water every two weeks and you don’t have to read the plants very much. Tie over the top is a method we have tried a bunch, but top makes a more even plant, alot of times when you tie down you get a bunch of branches that try and reach around cuz they are on the bottom, alot of times those branches dont produce or never end up growing around so they can get good light so they end up getting cut off.

In the end it is whatever works best for you. I start bending my plants over immediately at the third node and continue to do so. by the time they go into flower they're only about 8 in tall I continue to tie down all the way until the fourth week of flower. which gives me the result of a flat even canopy and anything lower that hasn't made it to the top are full and ripe also because they are getting the light they need. by the time my plants are finished they're lucky if they're a foot 1/2 tall and they are bushy as hell.

    The grow period stated on the package is usually only the "flowering" period, which allows them to pretend that autos are faster, because their veg period is really short and happens automatically, but the flowering time is still the same as photoperiods, still the same 2-3 weeks of stretch followed by 6-8 weeks of maturation. Which is why I've always disliked autos, I don't have any control over the plant before it flips a switch on it's own, and if I try to train the plant, it'll stunt it and give a poor result, and it's still going to take just as long to grow as a photoperiod.

    A White Widow from one breeder being different from the next breeders is absolutely NORMAL. Obviously every breeder is going to have a different version. Even if they have the same type of genetics such as a White Widow plant they will be working with completely different (phenotype) of the same strain. Unless a breeder takes a cut (clone) of a particular pheno and gives it to another breeder to use to make there version of that same strain they obviously will NEVER be the same. And when you talk about Autos there is no taking cuts. So they are kinda like a lottery. Now, you can get a pack of seeds that are all the same strain and they are still going to come out different because of the different (phenotypes) i was talking about. Now, depending on the breeder and how good of a job they did (stabilizing) the genetics will determine how similar each plant is. I'm not a professional breeder! Actually, I'm not a breeder at all lol. So I don't know exactly how everything works. Especially when it comes to stabilizing genetics and back crossing and all kinds of craziness they do to get seeds to come out the same again and again. But more I think with photos then autos. But I think the big thing is making sure you find a breeder who is doing things correctly. But if you guys want more predictable results consider trying your hands at growing photo period plants and start cloning lol. Like the vids though 👍👍👍

      Great points and tips fam! We know photos are much more stable and repeatable and the option to clone when you find that one pheno is awesome.. We still love autos even tho they are wild cards, its just part of the auto game! 💚💚 Hope you have an amazing weekend fam!

    I’m new to all this have my first grow don’t know what I’m doing. Didn’t grow right how much light do you need for auto flower and how do you know when their flowering?

    I recently just started my first grow and my plants are on day 45 but seem pretty small compared to others I’ve seen. What could be some reasons for that? My pots are 5 gallon wide

    I’m actually only growing autos because there is such a large amount of people growing autos but nobody’s growing autos in true organic soil where they’re actually making 100% of all their own material

    what about things like "always drop seedlings in final pot" or "never transplant" etc... Have you found these are true?

      Same we like to trim bottom most nodes around day 20 then top once at 5 nodes makes 10 even mains

    I completely disagree with cutting the bottom nodes. Personally I find that I can train them to grow out and later in life up for some excellent results, you really got to get a good bend on them to force the plants out and up but it is absolutely worth it.

      Y prefere cut the apex in place of bottom nodes so that y can lst my plant and train that branches .. but in perfect world y Will just lst

      ✌️cuting causes stress right bend her over lst is best on autos , and wouldnt top auto, could stunt it

      I've had somewhat mixed results with this, each grow I've done I always have 2 of the same strain from same breeder but I train each differently, one LST only, no deleafing, no topping no cutting off the lower nodes, and one plant I do top and prune etc. Each strain is different, out of 10 strains only 3 actually did better for me with topping etc, glueberry, amnesia haze and northern lights. But that's knowledge gained next time I grow those strains that's why i personally do it. Overall I like LST for autos better, I'll bend them over at 4" and work them to the edge of the pot and keep wiring them down around the edge of the pot, the amount of main colas becomes fantastic.

    Ive still only grew 1 auto. Berry Ryder... Lowrider/Blueberry. It was amazing but i knew NOTHING then so I'm thinking of trying again. I just dont like how the effect, taste, & everything is different from the photoperiod its related to. Id be interested to hear any auto strains u particularly like. Im more of 60/40 Indica but have never just hated any particular high😁.

      Heaven says the LSD we did is her favorite we have grown yet. Me I love the effects of the Strawberry Cheese we grew, good vides and high energy! The Sour Diesels coming out of the 5x5 were also great!
