I planted my photos directly into soil with nutrients for the first time but made sure to give them a high quality microbial inoculate day one. The seedlings so far have the best color I've ever had with great growth. I think with good genetics and proper microbial environment make planting into hot soil a benefit rather than risk.

Once you germinate and get a your root, dip it in some aloe goop, sprinkle with micorrhizae, then stick 'em in your pot. This will not only promote root growth; It will also make the plant more disease resistant. I also use an aloe floliar spray after you get 3 or 4 nodes, and remove dome.

I’m on day 4 right now, first time growing. Found a bunch of seeds in my weed. I got a tent some decent lights, coco soil and perlite. So far they’ve all sprouted beautifully. I have them on a 24 hr cycle of light. I’m keeping humidity around 65 Hoping to get no males lol
I use a cloaning incubator for auto's and photos with a heat mat , ocean forest in beer cups seeds 1/8 inch deep, spray bottle for moisture they allways pop sometimes you get a few bad bean that won't germinat 😉
I’m new to growing and still learning, but I start in a solo cup, with 1/8 teaspoon of Mykos and Azos from extreme gardening, 1/8 teaspoon of powdered silica and an 1/8 teaspoon of Dr.Earth All Purpose. I leave the dome on for 1-2wks, alternate plain water and recharge and only give them a shot glass of either.
Your Dr. earth won't break down quick enough unless you "cook" your soil for a while before you use it, with your microbes. Organic nutes must be processed by your microbes before they are available to your plant.
I wonder how it would work if you kept a pot of moist soil with Dr. Earth just for top dressing throughout a plant's life (the plant being in a different pot). I might try that with the Earth Dust Ive used that ended up being too hot when cooked in Fox Farm soil.
the best way to fix "leggy" seedlings (reaching for light) is to put more soil around the stem if they have/or at rick of falling over .. i learnt this from my pepper growing days
Does the stem grow roots like tomato plants do? I've been afraid to bury the stem on one of mine that's REALLY leggy because I don't want the stem to rot
@@lifewithkirsten7670 Yes, in my experience the buried stem will produce more roots. Make sure to leave room in the pot for more soil when you plant the germinated seed.
Started with strawberry fields only and made a hole about as deep as my pinky fingernail. Humidity dome for 2 weeks. No transplanting started in final home. Water and look for signs of need or lack of . I’m good so far as a first timer.
SF is a high phosphorous budding soil, it's OK to use but Happy Frog or a HF/Ocean Forest mix would be better if putting into final pot with no transplant..
@@stangcobra592 it was recommended to me because I’m growing autos. The one thing I questioned from the “expert” who advised me was when he said I’d need to add bloom nutes during flower due to plants using up bloom nutes during veg. I thought the plants took what they wanted from soil or water …. Anyway….. I’ve been adding diluted reservoir water from DWC weekly change plus H202 1 liter per 5 gal pot. Plants are looking very good with autos only 4 inches shorter than DWC photo that’s over one month older.
Forgot to say, clear cup over the seed until it comes up. I mist once a day until the sprout is up for a day, then I remove the cup and let the pot dry out.
I am actually going to try watering my coco multiple times/day this grow to see if there is a benefit. Commercial growers in non soil medium water up to 12 times/day. My last autos were monsters. I had one over 4’ tall from the top of the coco and it yielded me 5 oz. I want to beat that.
@@rickschlosser6793 I just harvested 3 sativas in a 2x2’ tent . I tried to slow them down with super cropping but they got into the lights . It was way too crowded, never 3 again. But I got 2, 3, and 7 ozs. ! Not rock hard but still a good high. One thing I noticed is I was waiting for 20% amber but it never got there and then I read how some sativas don’t get a lot of amber trikes so I harvested at 13 weeks. Next time one plant .
@@itmaslanka One plant and SCRoG it. That plant that got tall one me ended up too close to the light and foxtailed. I don’t have access all the way round my 4x4 so using a net makes it difficult to get the rear plants, so it got to grow. I am not sure if it was strain or the ‘hydro’. I have some Tropical Cookies and Sour Cheese on the go right now.
Been growing since 76,, Don't mean to piss on yr bonfire guys but you do not want to put the seed in with " the pointy side down" , the root shoot wants to come 'up and over', not just go straight down, when it has enough purchase on the soil it will then stretch and lift it's head up leaving the wet soft seed case in the ground. If you plant it pointy side down it will send a root down but push it's head up with a seed case on,you will have a lot of sprouts coming up with their seed case still on their heads, and because it will then dry out and become hard its harder for them to bust out of slowing the growth..they can be removed manually but occasionally a stem will snap,,trust me :) ,, And as a general rule all seeds should be buried at a depth of 4 times their diameter . Hope that helps ,,keep on trukin guys :)
@@Highigan hey yes of course , nice soil, the soil i use is biobizz light mix (a small amount of nutrients in it) so i use a handful of potting soil to plant my seedling in so not to scorch em . I add root juice from biobizz too for first week added to my water . so many different methods as long as you dont over feed or water them you should be ok
Great info video ! Great tips!! I feel light intensity is one of the hardest to get down (each auto diff) Now I just put at top of tent on full blast let them grow to where they want lol 🤣 (NOT saying that's right!)
I started running this run in Sunshine Advance and added my worm castings , dry amendments and a few other things and I've had way better results that way in seedling stage . I've run Ocean forest and it stunted 3 of 5 plants. No more ocean forest. Just my own recipe.
Great video! Thanks for the tips! Just started a northern lights auto and an amnesia auto from canuk seeds. Just got them in some soil today so we’ll see how it goes. I’m new to growing so the tips help me out. Can’t wait to learn from the plants too. I enjoy watching your videos and watching you guys fix issues and try new things.
1 liter airpot will hopefully work a hell of a lot better than a cup, transplanting an air pruned, massive ball of healthy roots with tons of endings. Not getting root bound, ever. I think it'll be awesome.
@@Highigan I'm not here to sell them, but hey, they worked great in small 2 gal / 9L pots for me. Can't wait to try the tiny ones for start. Since the diameter is so small, it'll help reach the air soo much quicker. I bet that quick pruning will strengthen everything early on and bring many benefits. I love your channel guys, my best wishes to you both and have a blessed year!
super thrive/ roots excelerator gold / voodoo juice , slf100, just a few drops of each in a gallon premix --- the roots come out screaming :) I soak beans for 12 hrs and the drop into rapid rooter
Great channel! I grow outside in phoenix. I do my seedlings just like you do and agree with everything. Do you transplant from the solo cup into the 5 gallon bucket. I think you called it a grow bucket? In the video where she is moving to a new house? It was just a regular 5 gallon bucket with training wires around the sides? And maybe a water area? Where do you get that? How much did your electric bill go up with your grow tent and lighting? Thanks
Hey guys, i was wondering if you could help me please? - Do you plant your seed in the center, or little bit on the side? I'll do only LST, no topping for my 1st time. I've seen some people plant on the side so the main cola can be bent in the opposite direction, but i don't know if this is a good idea for the roots? - When do you actually start your light schedule, for example 18/6? Do you start with 24/0 schedule first while the seedlings are still underground, and do you switch to 18/6 as soon as it pops out? Or is it 18/6 from the beginning? Thanks, love you guys.
I water a ring around the seedlings after they are above ground. I don’t get closer than a 1/2 inch and I only go as wide as the leaves so u go wider w every watering until the leaves are as wide as ur pot usually by day 14-21
You should try a see through cup and then put into another cup to stop any light getting on to the roots that way u can see how the roots are doing and you can see how moist because over watering is the biggest issue as well as underwatering
Ive always used ocean forest an never had burn an good for 30 days.. Have a whole bale of pro mix you can have that stuff.. Not for me. Always watching an enjoy.
I have done some into ocean forest with success but then I have had some strains not like it and show signs of nute burn.. Really its up to you and what and how you grow, if you are seeing issues, I would move to a more neutral starting soil, or center of pot.
Thanks for the tips. I'm growing my first attempt, Gorilla Glue #4. They are on day 9 in the solo cup and doing awesome. My biggest fear is that a might "over-tend" them. When the time is right I will move them to their 5 gal. perm. home and grow the rest of the way outside. Love the show :-)
I just stick a seed in a Jump Start biscuit and leave in in a little water. 2-3 days later whallah! pop goes the weedsel. You can stick them in a window. I don't treat them like ladies. I put my indoors out in the 105 degree sun for an hour a day. Makes the red hairs come on fast. Sometimes they have trouble shedding the seed.
Recharge water 1 day the next watering or spray is FloraBlend nutrients to build roots and the recharge feeds em🤷 I'm pretty sure this is like force feeding a baby a bottle with high grade liquor in it😁🤣. They definitely get a jump on life like this. Coco with a little bit of soil to carry the plant into week 2 possibly 3 if I'm lazy
I do both guys I do it in solos for regular autos cuz males speration for breeding works both ways right on. I do that for fems big pot and solo cups soil in middle. She's got good habits for breeding I bet with the solo cup idea before plant.
I also DO NOT recommend that. Only way I would be if you ONLY grew Mephisto, Gnome Autos, or Fast Bubz. Definitely stay far far away from Nukeheads. You’re gambling big with them.
The light is one of the most important from what I've seen. 3 feet at 200 watts has been the sweet spot for the XS4000. Speaking about lights are you guys still gonna release the par video for the XS4000?
I have the xs4000 too. How do you measure your watts or ppfd? Also I’m never sure where to keep the light height wise above the plant. Do you keep it in the same spot or do you lower or raise the light? Thanks for your feedback!!
Just curious...since you guys LST have you tried manipulating the light to get a little stretch between nodes? Or would that take to much time since yall mostly do autos? I have heard this works well with photo periods as it cuts down on the need to lolly pop as much when you go into flower but you still can create an even canopy. Can't grow in my state yet so I'm just gathering information for when the time comes. Thanks
Love the videos, keep them up. But here I have a question for the community. I am trying to get started in growing. I have beans already and they are autos. I have nothing in equipment. My budget is a little lite, though I have patience, where I can piece my kits together piece by piece. I would like to either get a 4x4 or a 5x5. But in case I get impatient what is the bars minimum needed to get my growing going.
Hey, what is your total budget? Maybe i can help you piece together a basic set of equipment. For 4x4 you should have around 400-500 watts of LED, and for 5x5 you should go for around 600 watts of LED If your tent is 5x5x7, you should get a 6 inch fan with around 350CFM or even more. The minimum CFM required is 5x5x7=175, but when you put a carbon filter and ducting it will reduce the fan capacity by 50% so that's why you should use double the power. You could even go higher than 350CFM, so you can run your fan at lower speeds. Makes it quieter and lasts longer. In my opinion first you should check your temperature and humidity in your room, and see if you will need an AC unit or a dehumidifer, they can cost a lot.
I had to piece mine together as I go. I'm disabled and can't work so my husband is the only one that brings in money. Luckily he brought up growing and not me. I originally got a giixer light and it worked for about 2 weeks after sprout and then wasn't enough. Upgraded to the Sayhon sh2000 for around $150. Got vivosun 6 inch inline fan carbon filter and duct for $130 a week ago. Got a vivosun 4×4 a few days ago for around $150. Tent came today. Plants did well under the Sayhon outside of grow tent so we had time. Just got the tent, vent system put together. Added in the grow light and 2 small Oscillating fans inside the tent and a 12-14 inch box fan outside to blow air into the vents at the bottom. Also got pH up and down from PetSmart API brand. I use the foxfarm liquid plant food trio from Amazon $30-$45. pH and tds meter from Amazon for $25. Also got 2 5 gal buckets 2 5-15 gal aquarium air pumps 2 sets of tubing and 2 rectangle air stones from Walmart to aerate water to help lower ppm out of tap, evaporate chlorine chloramines and heavy metals to some extent and all that at Walmart was around $40-$50. Hope this helps and isn't too late
Seedling get their water from resporation for the first few days. I keep 'em at 80% hunidity for the first week. I pick up the dome every evening to ensure the exchange of gases. I only spriz the dome for three days when the humidity drops. My dome is vented and I only water around the dome for at least a week. Then remove the dome and lightly water around the paremeter of the pot until ready for transplant.
I'm gonna be growing in my closet I'm a 4 foot wide by 2 foot long by 5 foot tall tent and I'll have the whole setup with humidifier/dehumidifier with the things that lets you set highs and lows and this is my first time growing so I'm only growing 2 for this first time and probably 2 everytime for the foreseeable future so what's stopping me from just keepimg the humidity up super high for lets say the 1st week after it's popped out of the dirt in the tent or could that break some things possibly
I know this is an older video but if im growing in coco/perlite only and using liquid nutes when is a good time to start watering to runoff. I know to slowly ramp up the nutes but havent seen whenn to really water to runoff since 5 gallons of medium probably doesnt need to be completely saturated? Any help is appreciated!

the best way to fix "leggy" seedlings (reaching for light) is to put more soil around the stem if they have/or at rick of falling over .. i learnt this from my pepper growing days
It works!
Loved the ending blooper.
Good tips for beginners great show great content great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Great information and tips
You guys rock (HIGHIGAN ✌)
Happy Turkey day you two & families, wish you guy’s the best! See ya soon.
Started with strawberry fields only and made a hole about as deep as my pinky fingernail. Humidity dome for 2 weeks. No transplanting started in final home. Water and look for signs of need or lack of . I’m good so far as a first timer.
Heck yeah! Sounds like a good plan!
Keep up with the great content guys very informative major kudos !
Thanks ❤️
Presoak pot with floraflex, plant seed. Feed next watering (typically a few days to a week) and then that’s day 1 of veg usually
Forgot to say, clear cup over the seed until it comes up. I mist once a day until the sprout is up for a day, then I remove the cup and let the pot dry out.
Grow in coco ! Big yields ,water every day !no bugs .
Love you guys!
Great video super helpful for me rn i have 6 autos seedlings going so perfect timing for me so ty!!
Awesome to hear! Thank you for watching! We appreciate you 🙏
Good stuff. Heaven looks great btw.
Up and over...😊
top tip for making youtube videos .. dont smoke before you start 😂😂😂
great video guys & super cool tips, all im gonna add literally is microryza
We use the promix hp it does contain some mycrorrhizae! And yeah that is a top tip 🤣😂💚 heaven made me do it 😂
@@Highigan hey yes of course , nice soil, the soil i use is biobizz light mix (a small amount of nutrients in it) so i use a handful of potting soil to plant my seedling in so not to scorch em . I add root juice from biobizz too for first week added to my water . so many different methods as long as you dont over feed or water them you should be ok
Very informative 👍
Glad you think so!
This beginning had me geekin lol
Great info video ! Great tips!! I feel light intensity is one of the hardest to get down (each auto diff) Now I just put at top of tent on full blast let them grow to where they want lol 🤣 (NOT saying that's right!)
Thanks fam! Lights to vary so sometimes you just gotta figure out what's best with the lights you have.
Thanks for the info!!
Started using air pots and so far im digging them, my first go in the 4x4! Massive growth so far!
Thanks so much fam! Gunna try potting some mephisto in 5gal airpots tonight and run em with floraflex! Excited! 🙌💚
Love the info, I’ve been lucky with seeds thankfully 😅, now I’m trying to root clones faster. Also I bought some coco that had thrips in it !!!!!!
super thrive/ roots excelerator gold / voodoo juice , slf100, just a few drops of each in a gallon premix --- the roots come out screaming :) I soak beans for 12 hrs and the drop into rapid rooter
This will be my first auto run, but I'm going to start in coco husk pots. They will be in coco/worm cast blend
They should run great! Coco has been running good
Enjoyed, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great tips!
Thanks
This is the make it or break it stage for me and most times its broken... so thanks for the help
Love you guys lol !!!!
💚💚💚
Side note: Y’all’s chemistry is so beautiful 🫶🏽
Good one ...happy Thanksgiving everyone
Thanks for watching
I love the shirt homie is wearing ❤🐱 🐶
So glad I started Instagram and found u guys on both
Thank you. We appreciate you taking the time to comment. 💚🤙
Thanks, love you guys.
thanks...am trying in different size pots...grow from seed in lifetime pot
See what ya think! Larger pots get them farther with less feeding but use more soil! See what ya like best! 💚💚
I water a ring around the seedlings after they are above ground. I don’t get closer than a 1/2 inch and I only go as wide as the leaves so u go wider w every watering until the leaves are as wide as ur pot usually by day 14-21
High again love you both
We love you back fam 🙏 💯 💜
Great ending
Cheers Family 😎 Much love and respect 🙏 Happy Thanksgiving 😊 Be safe everyone
I love your tee shirts.
You should try a see through cup and then put into another cup to stop any light getting on to the roots that way u can see how the roots are doing and you can see how moist because over watering is the biggest issue as well as underwatering
My Man Here:
A Genius!
A+! Thank you
Is there a reason why the clear cup has to go inside another cup?
@@SThompson953 just to stop the light hitting the roots 👍
Ive always used ocean forest an never had burn an good for 30 days.. Have a whole bale of pro mix you can have that stuff.. Not for me. Always watching an enjoy.
I have done some into ocean forest with success but then I have had some strains not like it and show signs of nute burn.. Really its up to you and what and how you grow, if you are seeing issues, I would move to a more neutral starting soil, or center of pot.
@@Highigan never had an issue with Sun West Genetics. I'm sure that has something to do with it. Great company an super costumer service.
I use a light soil "Happy Frog" it's not really nuetrial (LMAO). 🤣 Heaven is a hoot!
Hi Guys. Once the tap root comes through do you need to use any light or wait until the 1st 2 leaves come up?
Thanks for the tips. I'm growing my first attempt, Gorilla Glue #4. They are on day 9 in the solo cup and doing awesome. My biggest fear is that a might "over-tend" them. When the time is right I will move them to their 5 gal. perm. home and grow the rest of the way outside. Love the show :-)
Defo on about 'nukes top 5' 😎😎
nice :)
greetings from Poland ;)
I just stick a seed in a Jump Start biscuit and leave in in a little water. 2-3 days later whallah! pop goes the weedsel.
You can stick them in a window. I don't treat them like ladies. I put my indoors out in the 105 degree sun for an hour a day. Makes the red hairs come on fast. Sometimes they have trouble shedding the seed.
Good morning everyone!
Good morning!
@@Highigan have a blessed day!
Best advice I can give is start autos in some quality buffered coco. Overwatering is probably 90% most rookie mistake and coco will save you!
So stoned 😂 ♥️
🤣😂
I do both guys I do it in solos for regular autos cuz males speration for breeding works both ways right on. I do that for fems big pot and solo cups soil in middle. She's got good habits for breeding I bet with the solo cup idea before plant.
Awesome!!
I'm actually thinking about switching to just auto's. BTW, you guy's ROCK! Thankx 4 the tips.
Oh give em a shot fam! They so fun! You gunna love it! 🙏💚
I highly highly DONT recommend it
I also DO NOT recommend that. Only way I would be if you ONLY grew Mephisto, Gnome Autos, or Fast Bubz. Definitely stay far far away from Nukeheads. You’re gambling big with them.
In my experience, autos for fast turnaround but photos for yield.
@@7munkee Phots can have a quick turnaround, all depends on how long you Veg.
The light is one of the most important from what I've seen. 3 feet at 200 watts has been the sweet spot for the XS4000. Speaking about lights are you guys still gonna release the par video for the XS4000?
Yes I will be filming that soon and getting measurements from the 4x4 setup with par maps before we start the floraflex run
@@Highigan Awesome man! Look forward to it!
Loving my p2000. I have only heard good things about Viparspectra.
@@ghettotrash9459 For the money and the big sale Amazon has on these I don't think you can go wrong.
For 4x4 you should have around 400-500 watts of LED, and for 5x5 you should go for around 600 watts of LED
If your tent is 5x5x7, you should get a 6 inch fan with around 350CFM or even more.
Hey guys, the domes you mention you put on your seedlings for humidity i assume are clear so the light can reach them?
I use a spray bottle to water seedlings and ignore the humidity. The relative humidity in my house in generally 45-60% depending on the season.
Spray all day! We usually ditch the dome after they are up and out! Only Mist 🤣💚
Same but my rh is 40 to 45 percent
When you say around 10-12 days… is that from planting seed in soil, or after it pops out of the soil?
