Here I thought it was gonna be a modest setup and then he breaks out the apogee. I’m glad you made the point about overdoing it with organic. It’s infinitely worse to have a hot organic soil. At least you can leach out the salts but you can’t really wash out the organic material. You can only dilute.
Im using happy fog soil and I amended it with doctor earth according to what it says to give and planted the seeds directly in the soil and used MorTime 6 Pack Garden Cloche Plant Dome, 7.3" D x 6.9" H Plastic Plant Bell Covers and used a pump sprayer with a attachment that makes it mist and misted the top of the soil and the inside of the domes and all 4 plants came up with no problem. I think my problem has been that I was adding calmag when I didn't have to and kept having problems with spotting and slow growth but I am going to try not adding any calmag and see how that goes this time.
Have you changed your soil any since then? What’s your top dress schedule and feeding schedule? Are you doing just water or compost tea? Sorry for all the questions I’m really new
Only add microbes. Worm castings and maybe a batch of perlite every year or 2 and you can re use. Remember to re amend dry amendments after each harvest fort the plant used most of the amendments of the previous soil batch.
If using any of the coco blends i would re-buffer the medium in cal-mag before using again. Coco breaks down exposing new cation exchange sites and if not buffered, problems await.
Read all the comments can’t find a substitute for that medium. Ideas? Thank you! Awesome video. Will be rocking this. Will be checking out the rest my man.
Any inert growing medium will work. Look for sphagnum peat moss or coco coir. Don't forget to add some perlite to the mix to improve drainage and improve air/water retention.
I use 4 gallons buffered coco off brick w/4 quarts perlite to 5 g pots. Then amend like creator of video shows. Coco bricks are are so friggin cheap compared to bagged products.
Since you're growing organics, what are you using for pH up and down? How about the calmag? And how many tbsp are you using for the molasses and liquid seaweed?
you don't ph organics. cal mag isn't needed like most youtubers claim, molasses is 1 spoon per gallon of water seaweed you need to read the label but just go with organic kelp.
@@goodluck that's not exactly true. You always ph your water. You also allways use cal-mag when using reverse osmosis water. Ph your water to 6.0 and you'll be golden. You don't want to be pouring 8.0 ph water into your pots.

I'm just confused if you just mixed that up how can u use it without cooking the mixture for a few weeks so the microbial live is alive and feeding your plants?
It comes with microbes in the bag and some of the nutes are water soluble meaning it's available right away. No need to cook. By the time you top dress the first set of nutes are broken down.

Co2 only required if EVERYTHING and i mean everything else is dialed in. I wouldnt worry about co2 unless you have a bit of know how and then co2 will boost yield by quite a bit in a SEALED environment. Thats key 😊
Thanks for sharing! I have just one question. Why are you so concerned about watering with ph controlled water? Most soils seem to be acidic by nature. I'm growing my 1st auto in my greenhouse right now(almost ready!) in a soil I made from peat moss, compost, leaf mold, worm castings and perlite and have been seeing a lot of hubbub online about ph so I thought I'd check mine. My well water's ph is about 7.5 and the leach from my pot comes out at around 5.8 so I think ph is more of a worry with any type of hydro set up than it is with soil but I'm just an old trial and error vegetable gardener curious about your reasoning.
I followed this to the T. However, all the of my plants are showing Magnesium deficiencies starting at day 10. By day 15 I was able to diagnose and spray/feed a bit of diluted Epsom salts. Have you dealt with that issue on this soil build? 3 different stains from the Mephisto Genetics catalog.
Generally speaking, yes this mix should work well with all cannabis. You just might need to adjust feeding schedules slightly. Top dress every few weeks.

Love dr earth.. basically the exact same thing I do thanks to you. I've been doing it this way for the last cpl years!!
I started growing 3 years ago. After 6 mo of research into different types of growing, I decided to go organic. Dr. Earth has always been my source for organic dry amendments. I've been very satisfied with the results. My current grow incorporates 5 gal. self wicking buckets. The results have been explosive!
@Mark Johnson I've been wanting to try those for awhile now.. I'm still top watering in 5 gal fab.
@@bryanroberts I used 7 gal fab pots before switching. I'll continue to use the SWB's from here on out. An added advantage of the SWB is the reservoir at the bottom provides not only a constant source of water, but if a deficiency occurs, you can use a hydro nutes to immediately correct the issue.
I also like their "life" blend, the 5-5-5. Works well in veg and early flower.
I've always had good results from Dr Earth's mixes for tomatoes and veggies, the 444 mix, and the Flower Girl. I grow photo period plants and Dr Earth's has been great. I'm trying Ocean Forest and Happy Frog on my current run and so far the plants don't need anything else but when they do it'll be Dr Earth's.
I plan on using ocean forest and happy frog as well. What ratio are you using and how is it going so far?
@@jameslower8486 I grew one plant in mostly Happy Frog with some Ocean Forest, but I don't know what ratio. And I think the other 3 are mostly Ocean Forest. I have an Apple Fritters plant that needed to be fed about halfway through flower, and 3 Westport Grape Juice plants that I top dressed when I did the Apple Fritters to prevent any deficiencies. The Apple Fritters probably could have taken more fertilizer (Flower Girl and worm castings), but they're all close to harvest and fading. I cut, dried and smoked a little bit of the Grape Juice and it's super extra sticky and potent. I hope I can get the plants dried and cured right, but my temps are high in the house.
@comfortablynumb9342 appreciate the info. Definitely going to use this process on mine.
Great update! Hope to see an update on Dr. Earth/Photo growing soon
yeah i love dry amendments you dont have to worry about a feeding schedule you just kinda eyeball it and top dress occasionally. gaia greens pretty great but expensive and it takes awhile for the nutes to be available to the plants.
Started my Auto's from RQS in Amsterdam 5 days ago and they are sprouted and planted in 10 gal fabric folded half way down. Just going to follow your past videos step by step. I wont share with you though, lol.
I ran Dr.Earth a few times and noticed the only issue I had was Mag deficiency. I add some Epson salt every few weeks.
Yupp good call. Iron deficiency can pop up too
Look into fertoz for slow-release P. Look at granite meal for slow-release K. Look into Microgrow soil inoculant (dry). Look into MontanaGrow for available silicon for strong stems. These will really kick your recipe into overdrive.
I appreciate your information on this subject. I've used organic liquid fertilizer and wasn't satisfied with the results. Looking forward to this grow
Home Depot’s finest dr earth. The flower girl does help flowers
I fallowed these exact directions I used coco and I got GDP autos from ILGM. Monday is day 28 I have been doing lst and holy heck has it gone amazing. I haven’t had one sign of problems and they are just beautiful. it’s all organic and they are bushing out nicely thanks 😃
just starting GDP autos from ILGM today using this method ..Glad to hear that this is working for You ..I cant wait to see my results too...Thanks for your post ..
@@John-vd6sk today is day 56 for both and one looks 2 weeks ahead of the other, I did lst and leaf tucking one plant is taking up half the tent and they are sturdy. The smaller plant is getting just as big as the other and they look exactly the same.
@@rodofsteel6662how many watts are you growing under? I only have a 100 watt from Spider Farmer and I’m wondering if it’s enough for two plants. I want to try one with and one without worm castings to see how much difference it makes.
@@rodofsteel6662 Rod , glad to hear that your grow has taken off.I had the same problem ..I had 2 seeds pop on Sept 1st but I had one plant take off really slow just getting its 2nd set of leaves and the other one is on its 5th set and looks great..I'm sure the slow one will take off as well but like yours looks 2 weeks behind the other...
@@John-vd6sk oh yeah the smaller one is budding and taking off now it’s going to be the same size and seems two weeks behind like you said.
I have your original video like this bookmarked. Thanks for the update. Do you still feed every 3 weeks in 3 gallons? Or do you bump that down a little since there aren’t as many nutes being put into the soil at each feeding?
I love Dr earth my last grow I only used Dr earth all purpose 444 and got 20 oz from my 3x3 I just recently got the home grown tomatoe and herb flower girl is next awesome video thanks for the info
Did a grow with dr earth just to do as a budget and it was my best easiest maintenance grow
I love this video, I honestly hate the idea of chemical fertilizers and I have been using them for two years now growing hydroponic leafy greens. I am moving to soil as I see how well soil can do in two bioactive reptile tanks I have. Keeping roots and stems to break down to refeed the soil.
Great video ! I have watch your channel for a long time. This video is your best teaching video yet. Many Thanks
🤜🤛
Hey bro I really think you’re awesome but you need to start your seeds 24 hour soak and then put them in a Coco core blend to really aerate the roots and get them supercharged then put them in your super soil you will be amazed
Posted one day ago , JUST in time for my next garden ✌️
Thank you for this video. I just copied everything you did. I’m new to organics. Thank you again for you well informed video.
Thanks for this video! Can you share make/model of your PAR meter?
I don’t think you could’ve said it any more clearer than that. Great video an awesome for beginners.Good job man 👍🏻 And thanks 🙏🏻
Appreciate 👊
Super video...great Dr. Earth info...been using for 2 years.
Great tips.
For popping seeds i just throw them in a shot glass with a drop of hydrogen peroxide 100% germination for me
Thank you brother for your comments man I'm going to follow what you do as far as your seedlings because I too have had trouble germinating recently and I think that your idea is a good idea and your mix is awesome and I will choose it also thank you for your help
Amazing channel . Good editing good content. Great job! Much love from TNB.
Thanks again man Haha 3 runs with your ratio . No issue really . But controlling environment definitely hard haha feels good watching again
preach the environment is no joke I'm still trying to tame the beast 😂
Have you changed your soil any since then? What’s your top dress schedule and feeding schedule? Are you doing just water or compost tea? Sorry for all the questions I’m really new
Buying new soil is not needed doing this method.. You can re use the soil for years.. Some say decades..
Rice hulls work well as a medium and contain a bunch of silica. Pumice makes a good replacement for perlite as does small Bio char. Charge it first.
@uniontank7125 how do you prepare the coco?
Since you're growing organics, what are you using for pH up and down? How about the calmag? And how many tbsp are you using for the molasses and liquid seaweed?
you don't ph organics. cal mag isn't needed like most youtubers claim, molasses is 1 spoon per gallon of water seaweed you need to read the label but just go with organic kelp.
@@goodluck Cool thanks
@@goodluck that's not exactly true. You always ph your water. You also allways use cal-mag when using reverse osmosis water. Ph your water to 6.0 and you'll be golden. You don't want to be pouring 8.0 ph water into your pots.
@@kenshinhimura9387 if you have good soil it will balance out the ph for you. there's 0 need to PH organic soil and there are 100's of article's online to backup what I'm saying with studies
@@cyro44 I agree. Ph for coco is 5.8-6.5....for hydro 5.5-6.2....for Soil 6.3 - 6.8. Go for the lower end in veg rising in flower.
Are you too dressing at 21 days with 10 tbsp per plant or 10 spread amongst 4 plants
Getting ready to start my first autoflower grow in 10 gallon fabric pots using Dr earth
I like your video do you have any suggestions
Unless growing autoflowers, ive never been able to do a water only grow. Ive always had to make teas or top dress.
The package tells you to do both after 2 months
Have to agree u could end up with 30% more of juice in one pot or 40% less in another pot. Better do each pot spot on.
first time here wow great video will check out now all others thanks knowledge is power
Currently doing a dr earth vs gaia green vs both in one bag experiment with three auto banana blazes. I use home grown-flower girl-exotic tropical blend, 2-3-1 tablespoons per gallon of medium in 7gal pots under a 150 watt light, gonna add another 100w soon. Have you ever tried using the tropical palm blend? Its got a bit more sulfur and magnesium than the homegrown,, according to the ingredients list. I'm having pretty good results, both indoor and outdoor! My outdoor photos this season are all monsters, and all grown in coco-castings-compost with dr earth. Cant wait for late september!
How did Dr earth compare to Gaia green ??
@@bbolton021398 This first experiment is a bit scuffed, on account of a bad batch of seeds with really low germ rates and two of the three plants were sprouted a month after the first. But so far, the smallest plant appears to be the Gaia Green bag, the Dr earth bag is what i'm calling the medium plant, and the combination Dr Earth+Gaia Green bag is doing the best out of the three, with a massive 2.3 square foot canopy. It's filling a whole side of my 2.5ftx5ftx7ft grow tent. I just got some new bar-style grow lights so I expect these autos will finish strong. I will be repeating this experiment under the new lights over the winter, hopefully with better germination rates. lol
I did the same last year. Gaia green is about ten percent better and 500 percent more expensive.
@@BrianM-44041 yeah, dr earth really is tops for its price. I can buy a 12lb bag of all three ferts i use, for $70ish.
do you ever add a little epsom/calcium/dolomite to that mix just to make sure they get enough cal/mag as well as it buffering your pH a little? Thinking about it right now while I prepare this exact mix for my current autos.
Never add any of it.
@@stealthgrows thx!
@@stealthgrows last one, do you see a problem using rice hulls in place of the perlite in Tupor? I'm wanting to use canna coir and rice hulls in place of the Tupor coir and perlite for my base.
@@stealthgrows How long do your auto runs usually go for? I typically see around 84 days, so do you top dress at day 63 also?
Yes rice hulls work great and add silica @@thomascross8339
Ur awesome bro great info!!! What liquid seaweed and molasses do u use???
Grandma's or brer rabbit unsulphured...
One pot, One plant, One happy family!
Wonderful video and very helpful! Would you be able to advise what measurement of worm castings you are using for your 5 gallon pots? I see you have a scooper but wanted to be sure if it was a cup...2 cups..etc per 5 gallons.
Top layer of about an inch then mix into top layer
2 cups per two pot mix
@@NoWayJose87 much appreciated! When you top dress every 21 days, do you add worm castings again? If so, how much?
I do two to amend and 1 cup at top dressing. Day 21 50/50 and 0 wc at 42 with 70b/30veg seems to be working. Now been adding Recharge. Still playing with it
@@NoWayJose87 so no worm castings on the last top dress before harvest, correct? And is that two cups of worm casting per 10 gallons or 5 gallon pots?
Awesome video.
I appreciate the information. Started using Dr earth once I came across your channel
6.7 is a high pH for a coco based medium, I water it at 5.8.
Really keep up the good work
So 10 tablespoons in the mix, 10 more at 21 days, and another 10 after 3 more weeks.
That’s 5/8 of a cup at each stage, that seems REALLY hot. Dr Earth’s schedule starts out with 1/4 cup at the start, then 1/4 cup every 2 weeks. Have you compared your plant size and yields against their feeding program?
Well I guess I’ll find out, I mixed up 2 5-gallon batches today using your amendment recipe (using Pro-mix plus vermiculite as a base), so wish me luck.
@@w3vjp568 how did it work out for you?
2 tablespoons of dry amendments per gallon total. So if 5 gallon pot yes it will be 10 tablespoons.
Hi my friend! Question! What is the see weed /molasses ratio per 5 Gallons! Thanks for your great work!
Be prepared for an organic smell in the tent . Knats like it to . Top with Diamatious earth .
Have you ever used the liquid bloom from Dr earth on autos just curious?
Dr earth went from being a cheap alternative to down to earth to skyrocketing off the charts. I can still get down to earth 25lb bag for $45. 1 4lb bag of dr earth is like $25 now.
4 pound bags are 13 bucks each on Amazon and at most Walmarts.
What's your measurements for the seaweed and molasses mix and how much to give in a 5gal pot?
waiting for the info on this.....
Lol same.
@stealthgrows help your amigos out bro. Complete auto flower molasses and seaweed watering phase
I switched to Gaia green and I love it but I did use this at first maybe that's where I went wrong I used the all-purpose and the bud Bloom booster did not use the Tomato vegetable herb fertilizer
Gai green is a better product but dr earth is a close second
Thank you for the instructional video.
trying this but mixed before I saw this vid. I used worm castings and ProMix. 1/2 cup DE Veg and 1 Tsp Billions. Did not think to add the DE Bloom until later but that makes sense to me. next time. I've only grown with salts so far. hoping for a clean grow. Hope I didn't F it up. Thanks for the vid.
would love an update on these, don't see anything on this tent so far. I think this is the 4x4
Looking good man 👨🏻
Is 1 tablespoon per gallon a safe bet? What happens if soil drys out. Thank you
I'm just confused if you just mixed that up how can u use it without cooking the mixture for a few weeks so the microbial live is alive and feeding your plants?
Following
It comes with microbes in the bag and some of the nutes are water soluble meaning it's available right away. No need to cook. By the time you top dress the first set of nutes are broken down.
What kind of worm casting do you have a USA link?
I've been using Dr Earth for ten years and still love it by the way you sound like an old Sub i had years ago named NV med grower? I'm subbed back up brother 💚🌱💨✌️ PS Espoma tomatoe tone garden tone are also great 🤙
Espoma is also cheaper
You can get both yield and quality with soil. More volume of soil = more yield.
Still checking for the seaweed molases ratios 😂 love this mix tho. Researched a bunch and this one is simple. Tryna get away from bagged and resuse
One tablespoon per gallon of molasses every third watering. One tablespoon per 5 gallons of kelp or seaweed meal, same with liquid. No need to overdo it.
Alfalfa meal for veg too
Loved the intro brother I'm use that royal tupur it's not so expensive I'm see how it goes and yeah can please explain the ppfd and dli for different schedules like 18/6 20/4 24/7 thanks man I have a hard time with that people say to run CO2 for higher ppfd ?
Roots organic works AMAZING also
A more expensive option, but yes it's a quality potting soil.
Yes, but it's more expensive.
Every now & then. Depends on the strain.
What are you top dressing with every 3 weeks? I'm trying the same method you are using
how big are your bags........?
5 gallon grow bags he said it plenty of time ahahaha
This helps me so much - thank you
How do you reuse the soil? Do you re-ammend the soil?
Hell yes! a newer detailed dr earth guide!
Excellent information 👌!
Can I still use this method without all purpose? I have everything besides all purpose.
Nice video 🤩
Are you growing in soil? Or coco?
Put 2-3 drops h202 in ur h20 and let root in water
In a humidity dome and heating pad .
How about for PhotoPeriods Same Feeding ?
Generally speaking, yes this mix should work well with all cannabis. You just might need to adjust feeding schedules slightly. Top dress every few weeks.
So once I feed on day 21 do I top or put it in water
What’s your recipe for seaweed and molasses?
I do this without worm casting with advanced nutrients get the pros from organic and the speed and size from the synthetic my autos are monsters every time
How far away do you keep your light away from your seedlings
Great info
