Hi Kim, could you please share your figures for 2022 or 2023, if it possible? Or just share was it better than in 2021, you showed. Thank you a lot for your videos
Could you share with us why you started a career in permanent makeup & what were you doing before? I’ve been doing research on this type of business and margins, time value, scalability matter to me. You seem practical & honest and I love that
Yes sure. I decided on a career in PMU because 4 years ago I moved to Amsterdam from London and noticed there was a gap over here for quality PMU. I was looking to start a business here in Amsterdam and after doing some research decided it could be a profitable business venture. It’s a happy coincidence that I genuinely love the work too. Before this I had an online Personal Training business, so very different, but I had transferable skills when it came to setting up the business.
@@KimLoystudios wow! Thanks for sharing! I used to be a fitness coach too. Lol I’m in the US, and I’ve been trying to research the market growth rate & margins & profitability of the business, depending on which state I live in & I can’t really find any information especially the biggest importance is demand being higher than supply. Or at least demand increasing. Do you have any tips on how you did your research? You def seem wise. Will be following your journey 😁
@@fitmissdarsh7725 Great that you're doing your research. For me I had a friend who worked for a Global PR company who told me about the growth of the PMU industry. It's now so versatile that there's always room for growth. Supply and Demand in your area is a huge one. When I moved to Amsterdam 5 years ago, I could see with a quick google search that there were very few people offering PMU and doing it to a high standard. I also used a Google Chrome App tool called 'keywords everywhere' which told me how many times per month a certain keyword was searched, such as 'Microblading Amsterdam'. So at the time I could see that this keyword was searched 1000 times per month, but there were only around 5-10 artists in the city. Demand was high, supply was low.
Hello Kim! I followed you for sometime now, I am very happy that I found you. I was wondering how many clients you used to on average a week? It would be great if you could share some information about how you publicized your business. I am starting now and found it really difficult
Hi Noelia, thanks for your message. Currently I cap my bookings at 5-6 new clients per week mon-fri, equates to around 25hrs per week. I don't work on the weekends. I've found this to be a good life balance for me. I understand that marketing is a challenge for new PMU artists. I'll record a video on this subject soon. But the short answer is when I started my PMU biz, I was lucky. I was lucky for the following reasons: - 4 years ago competition in my city was low - I knew how to develop websites and understood SEO Because of the above I was able to get to page one of google within 6 weeks for the search term 'Microblading Amsterdam' Still today this brings me a lot of business. I still believe SEO to be an amazing way to get clients, so have a good website which is SEO optimised. But this can take a long time. For instant short term results the next best thing is organic social media. Instagram, facebook, ticktok, pintrest. Your work has to be visually appealing and you need to post every day to gain traction. I hope that helps. Hang in there and don't give up. Learning good Marketing is crucial to business success.
Hey Kim, I came across your site and your work is absolutely amazing! 😍 Did you do another course after your Microblading course for the machine hair stroke technique?
Hey, thank you :) The only course on machine hairstoke technique that I've taken was the W-Brow course. If you're interested i also teach this technique online. You can find out more about the course here: microbladingamsterdam.nl/feather-brows-online-training-course/
Hi, it depends what value they add for that price and how engaged the course is, so it's difficult for me to say without knowing more about the course.
Hi, best of luck with your new PMU career. I'm not affiliated with any UK training schools, so I can't recommend any but make sure you do lot's of research, check the reviews and make sure that is aftercare support once you've completed the training. Online course or support post in-person training is also a good idea.
Hi Kim, thank you so much for your videos. Getting started can be so daunting, so they are very helpful! I truly appreciate your advice :)
You are so welcome!

Hi, Kim) Thanks for your videos 🌷
Please tell me where and how did you get the license for the tattoo?
And what kind of insurance did you do?
You're welcome. I'm based in NL, the rules will change according to where you live.
I clicked the link and it sent me to your website. I don’t see where to sign up for the check list.
Hi, the link seems to be working ok: kimloystudios.com/pmu-essentials-checklist/
Hi Kim in New Jersey the course are starting at 8,000.00 which last about 2 months.....I would like your opinion on this price?
Hi, it depends what value they add for that price and how engaged the course is, so it's difficult for me to say without knowing more about the course.
It's insanely inflated. Greed and gatekeeping.
I can’t reach your lists can you reactivate this link please?
