Same here! 33 looking to trade in a high paying corporate job for a more stable trade I can start a business in. 33 feels so old yet young at the same time, kinda feels like last call for us
I got into electric at 35. Will be 43 in a few months. It's worth getting into for sure. Your other real world experience will help you in your trade career
Starting at $30 is nuts. Hard to find over $25 for myself and I'm not new. Years of experience with a variety of carpentry, no record, don't do drugs or drink, in shape and good looking, smart, well spoken... couldn't ask for a better apprentice. Problem isn't just lack of workers. Most companies can't retain or attract quality employees.
I thank you much. That revelation of carpentry and welding being artistic really subsided any and all tension I had towards entering the trades. Bless you man
Thank you for that information. I have a 17 yo and 15 yo nephews who I desperately want to succeed and these options will give them something to think about.
Started at 16 an hour in HVAC. Up to 17 now after 3 months. I can’t afford to live without a 2nd job. I don’t have enough experience to do side work yet. Help!
I’ve been a diesel tech for almost 8 years mostly working on semi trucks making $36 an hour, about to graduate HVAC trade school any recommendations on what route i should take, i was thinking about working on reefer trailers since it’s a little bit of both 🤔
Thanks for the useful content you always share here on UA-cam. Next month I will be getting my permanent resident card and I will be moving to NC (God willing) and i hope I get into carpentry. Even though carpentry is not my profession (photo and video is) I have sone experience and these new opportunity life gives me to start from scratch, I would love to work with my hands.
Hey man appreciate the video. Currently a graphic designer /marketing guy and looking to get into something more hands on. How would you approach finding a trade you like? Would love to do something that is somewhat artistic since thats been my whole life up to this point but not sure where to start as I really have no skills outside of computer stuff. I worked at a industrial window factory for a summer in high school but it didnt go so well
i’m just tired of making 400$ a week at fast food i’m 20 and need to get serious with making $ and support myself, is that a good enough reason?(still deciding which trade is for me)
A good enough reason is up to you man, I am 22 for reference and the question you are asking makes you seem like you're not so sure of yourself. That question is what you should be asking yourself, bro.
I’m going to be honest. I’m basically looking for information like this. I’m mechanically inclined, able to read and produce off schematics, learn quickly, and a leader. I’m in the automotive industry. I just got laid off but luckily found another position but driver twice as far and got a pay cut. About $5. I can’t support my family. Wife and daughter. I’m really looking for information that helps me follow a positive trajectory. I’m very grateful for everything in my life. But hate myself.
Great information on this video 👍🏼 I think Plumbing is the best way to go but I may be a bit biased 😅. In California, service plumbing is a great trade to get into. You don’t have to go to a trade school and many companies offer on job training and apprenticeship programs. Where there is good companies, there is good opportunities for anybody wanting to get into the trade.
@ Damn, that sucks bro. Luckily you realized it quickly because there’s a few guys that are pretty good at the trade but don’t feel fulfilled from this type of work and its not worth making a career out of a job you don’t enjoy doing. Hopefully you found something better for you 👍🏼
Very helpful videos, 19 year old transformer assembler but I wanna get into actual trades, get my time and money worths while enjoying it, definitely would like to get a consultation
Good video! But uhhh….where is the painter on this list? As a painter myself. You can make excellent money as a painter that has a niche. Cabinet repainting. Or just market yourself towards big homes. A lot of money and consistent work for painters.
I’m 20 and I’m a 3rd year (85%) apprentice out of local 277 but some days I hate nothing more than my job, metal framing and rock and doors just don’t interest me anymore. Any suggestions?
Thanks Nate I’m actually thinking about moving to Idaho within the next year, I got out of the army roughly 8 months ago and attended welding school on the way out. I’m currently a tig welder but familiar with all processes, however I’m wanting to myself within the trades I would like to start working with heavy equipment whether as a operator or mechanic do you think it would be beneficial to go back to trade school for this?
I would look for local commercial heavy equipment company and get a job with them. You will be paid lower than what you want. But man, you will not have to pay to learn and you can move up quick if you show the willingness to succeed and move up fast and if not, find a different company there’s good ones out there.
Location, How old are you and do you have any schooling? My two cents is really learn how to read a tape measure. It is not hard and you can learn through UA-cam UA-cam. You’d be very surprised how many people cannot measure if you know how to. Find your nearest Bricklayers Union and sign up they will teach you everything you need to know about a trade that is very high skill and very high paying!
So I’m in college right now my sophomore year, I play lacrosse in college and have a 3.5 gpa. I was in a trade school in high school and did carpentry. The more I’m at school I can’t see my self sitting at a desk anymore. My parents want me to go to Williams which is a trade college. I don’t know much about carpentry and don’t know if I should do carpentry or something eles. Or should I just head back home and get a job somewhere. Anyone have suggestions
Jesus Christ.!!!! Your "welded" table is awesome. If I had your skills I'd build stuff, put a picture of them in a catalogue and send it to mansion designers and make a killing. A lot of afluent people are looking for one of a kinds, like that.
That’s for home; if you are a real trades man you do all that at home for fun, go industrial it pays way more and you get jobs for life without having to look for it.Millwright for life or others call us industrial mechanic,we do it all,we are jacks of all trades master of none lol
Don't let anybody fool you, the top-paying trades jobs are nearly impossible to get, because everybody wants them. You can expect to spend 20 or 30 years in the lower ranks, working hard and dirty for the minimum pay, until you get the chance to move up into a good paying, highly desirable trades job. Even then, it takes luck, and not everybody has, that kind of luck. People who give you the sales pitch about the great benefits of entry level trades jobs, are talking about the very fortunate few rookies who get lucky, right from the start.. Some rookies do, but you, probably will not
@@G.MONEY.WISDOM well I’ll tell you one thing the wages will drop because the greedy white man hires them just as fast as they come across and don’t think they don’t buddy

@@Shesmooth28 that’s awesome! Can I ask you how old you are? How long have you been doing that, and where in the county you’re at!?

Bricklaying masonry is always slept on! Send em to a brick mason
Trade schools. And 4 year apprentice programs get you certified while getting paid
Thanks for the video, appreciate the encouragement!
Great video my friend! Electrician here from Montreal!

Thank you for the advice.

Network! Network! Network! It’s not about how hard you work, but about who you know
Apply for a commercial company. There is a shortage of qualified technicians in the commercial side
@ I only have experience doing duct work. Is that valuable to a commercial company?
@Rtj407 You'll be ojt at work but you must take courses in hvac. Some will offer to pay for your classes if they are a decent company

Great information Nate.
Im 25, I joined the army 2 years ago because I am trying to find out where I need to go. I just know I cant go back to warehouse work when im out
Look into "Helmets to hardhat" they help vets get into the trades. Linemen and elevator constructors make $100k and up easily.
That’s exactly what ima do as well I got into plumbing & I don’t like it so I’m planning to go in the army next

Not really because like a electrician you're needed everywhere and electricity is everywhere so it wouldn't be tough to earn big money 🤷♂️😅
My left ear heard everything
With migrants pouring into the country, will these trades be safe?
