The metallic red vehicle you thought was a military truck is probably a firefighting vehicle of some sort and the rotating thing may be some kind of fire hose nozzle.
Love the unboxing videos too ...
Can't wait to see you restore those race cars ...
THANK YOU!!
Another feel good video. Keep them coming.
On the Ferrari the term Berlinetta refers to a sports coupé, typically with two seats but also including 2+2 cars. The original meaning for berlinetta in Italian is “little saloon”. Introduced in the 1930s, the term was popularized by Ferrari in the 1950s.
That Wild Honey looks like a Gasser style drag car.
Marty, the lledo brand is actually created by matchbox co founder Jack Odell and Burt Russell. The name lledo is Odell reversed. They basically wanted to remake some of the classic early matchbox models. Love your channel.
Think a lot of people have said the same as me, the van I think was a Reliant Regal Supervan 3/25. My dad used to have one and yes you could drive one on a motorbike licence, however I was told you had to block off the reverse. I learnt to drive in a Reliant Robin before I moved on to Minis. They actually made the cars in Tamworth.
The builders truck should need 6 bits of scaffold so need 3d printing - but its tricky. I think they came on a sprue and you had to cut to fit in the truck. The box was nice, I binned it in 1970
Another great unboxing opening joke a bit close to the club but that’s Marty. 👍👍 looking forward to seeing what you next
At this rate, you will never have to go looking for another project.
I've been inspired by you and all the other excellent restoration hobbyists that have posted on UA-cam, and will in the future be attempting one of my own.
With the bike you are thinking of Motor mouse and Auto Cat from Hanna Barbera from the late 60’s
The cups are from a communion service hence the grape juice
Are you talking about a cartoon call biker mice from mars? That’s the only thing I can think of that is close, it was one of my favorite shoes, we had it in USA.
Love that Mercedes he restored. I had a 66 250s I regret selling to this day.
Awesome video. Love all the Matchbox Makeovers. Love the Motorcycle.
Great video cheers ! From Indiana U S
So many pins in the UK? H'mmmm🤔 that could be why this place feels like it's full of pricks at the mo🤣
You won the internet for today 😂👍
Look at character named Rat Fink by illustrator Ed “big daddy” Roth might be the cartoon your thinking of.
"Motormouse" cartoon comes to mind.
Considering that the seats were pushed forward on the second Siku, can we assume that the windshield was busted because the passenger was thrown threw it? LOL!
What comes to mind is that Mr. Bean's 'nemesis' was a skyblue Reilant Minivan too. In the early days it kept appearing in all episodes and Bean always flipped it over one way or another.
Wish you could do or have the time to do a video on your collection of restored models and your display case. it would be a good little video which I'm sure you'd get a lot of views. I'm sure all your other viewers would agree.
My jaw dropped when I saw the knife blade being 'sharpened' on a bench grinder. Lol. Yes, I'm the nerd that buys all the sharpening stones at garage sales and makes wooden cradles for them out of reclaimed lumber (that has tight growth rings.)
Lol. As always, I immensely enjoy the work and the thought that your production team and yourself put into the M^3 presentations.
Stingeroo...maybe the head is supposed to be a kangaroo head but they just couldn't be bothered to make a new mold?
those are communion cups!
Mouse on a bike well in the usa it's called biker Mouse from Mars cartoon.
You are thinking of Rat Fink by Ed Roth probably
Check out rat fink on a motorcycle.
The cartoon you saw was "Biker Mice From Mars", would be my guess.
You could only drive the reliant on a motorbike licence when it didn't have the reverse gear as some of the very early models came without the reverse gear. It is actually a Reliant Regal and not the Robin. The Robin was a later version, unfortunately, everybody who see's a reliant automatically presumes it's a Robin, quite irritating really. Other than that, keep up the good work.
Hi Marty my name is Rick from the u,s,a
The mouse is on the chopper is Jerry from Tom and Jerry cartoon
Shall I send you an oilstone for your knife. Please don't grind, it knackers the blade.
nope sadly not they did re-make the robin in 2003 with a new look but sadly it was unsafe as well fiberglass and impact your going to be the only crumble zone in the car as fiberglass isn't strong, so it was ended you can still drive them on a motor bike linance there great lil cars just a bit unsafe when turning, no solo bike mouse riding biker but if your thinking of mice then its biker mice from mars your thinking of, and yes that is a great show, i've explaned whizz wheels before but that one i don't have hell "i've never seen anything like that before!" myself,
tht us mail 4x4 is nice it has a changed name plate, your note the rounded part were the name is, back in the 80's mb did this a lot as well as hotwheels when they swihed over to making cars in other country's and not the uk, they would also do it if there car was wrong or the name was not okay its a common thing to see on bases of 80's models some 90's one too but that's mostly on old corgi models when hotwheels took them over,
That MMM truck is pretty sharp... box and all! Hope you’re having a great week Temm MMM. Thank you.👍🏼🤘🏼😎
The yellow car at 4:55 was a fairly well known car in UK drag-racing in the early 70s - quite a bit of info on it here www.trakbytes.co.uk/vech4.html
I had the same Corgi model and chopped it about to customise it, before I realised what it represented.
Danger Mouse had a motorcycle.
Marty, I think those are the church sacrament cups that the thinner melted.
I agree
Yeah for communion
Not sure what I enjoy more, the unboxings or the restorations? Both are wonderfully entertaining. Thanks Marty.
Wednesday evening and the new MMM unboxing is online.
Great show as usual, big thumb up👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
BTW Betzdorf is located southeast of cologne. (I was born 15 km away from it half of a century ago)
Thank you for bringing so much joy and fun today by sharing this video.😀👍🏼
Best regards to You, Julie and the entire MMM-TEAM from the banks of the river Elbe👋🏼👍🏼😀👋🏼😀👍🏼
I can't wait for Marty's Matchbox Makeovers Stand -Up Comedy Variety Show , Featuring The One And Only , That Nobody Can Compare , The A #1.......
kevin
🙄
Hi Marty, two remarks to this video:
If Andreas Müller is from Betzdorf in Germany it is most likely not the Betzdorf in Luxemburg as this is not Germany ;-) You can find Betzdorf Germany here: Betzdorf
maps.app.goo.gl/bvCTKUerz7jLjZb18
Elsewhere, Siku here in Germany is just as famous as Matchbox, they do all sorts of stuff: www.siku.de/de.html
Cheers from Germany (and also close to Betzdorf)
Marco
Marty, for reference at 17:37 ... I found the Siku Website, see www.siku.de/en.html
Lots of pretty neat models. Not necessarily makeovers, but some neat cars and trucks!
That red truck with the spinner on top is probably a fire fighting truck not a military vehicle. The thing on top that spins is most likely a nozzle for spraying water or foam on fires. That is the guess I would make, especially being painted red like that.
I am working in Bad Waldsee in an optician shop! Did´nt know you have fans there besides of me!
Es gibt viele MARTY Fans in Deutschland.😀👍🏼
There are a lot of MARTY fans in Germany. 😀👍🏼
Ich komme aus Dornstadt bei Ulm und bin ebenfalls ein Fan von Ihm !
Auch wenn meine Richtung eher die Modelleisenbahn ist !
Grüße an Alle 👍👋👋
Lledo is Odell spelt backwards. Jack Odell was one of the main people involved in the original Lesney (Matchbox) company.
yep .. if you look at the engine on the matchbox trike it has the Lledo name on its rocker covers
Biker Mice From Mars is the TV show.
Marty, if you ever find yourself visiting Terry in Dayton, Ohio, USA to thank him personally for all those brushes and sacrament cups, an old RAF hand like you will enjoy a side trip to the National Museum of the US Air Force.
The Australian border force must be opening your parcels so they can get sneak peaks of your videos
Lol maybe
Marty, I'm so very happy and proud to see the little trucks I sent you in your cabinet! I got to say that the unboxings are more fun than the actual make-over videos for me now. Love your work!
Yet again, drops the ball on Saturday. Like I mentioned before, 100,000 subscriber syndrome. Not the reason I subscribed. Loved the makeovers; well-executed and entertaining, too. Oh well,Good luck, Marty and farewell.
Thanks for you comment David. I have not heard of the '100,000 subscriber syndrome'. Unfortunately , I am constrained by the amount of time that I have available each week to dedicate to my channel. Unlike many of the other restorers, I am not retired; I have a full time job and am therefore sometimes unable to fulfill other people's expectations.
whats the cats name i always see it walking by visiting you...lol
The 'sheep shagger' really killed it with that homemade MMM matchbox model! Should look great in your display case.
Hi Marty and Julie, the US mail Jeep the cutout in the window frame is for a bazooka from a military version of the Jeep. And if you do a search for "boss hoss" motorcycles you'll see the maddest bikes ever made!!! Only in America!!. Love the videos!!!!. Steve MCR UK.
Grape juice - used instead of wine in church for communion. That is my guess (not Catholic, they use wine.)
Yep..you got it.
dear marty i miss your saturday makeover !!!!!!!!!
Maybe the red military is actually a bush fire fighter truck
Would it be Danger Mouse?
Marty I think the "mixing cups" were used in church for Communion. You probably know that some churches have switched from wine to grape juice. Just a guess on my part though.
I think the wild honey was an austin 7 with a jag xk 6 cylinder in it.
The cups are disposable communion cups. He likely cleaned the grape juice out of them following a church service. They probably will make great paint mixers.
your gon'a hate me the trotters independent trading van is not a a robin reliant but a reliant super van reliant being the maker who also made the reliant robin
Incorrect font for the Maserati decals unfortunately.
That v8 motorcycle - Don't you just hate those 70s monstrosities? Lesney really lost their way trying to cater for the disco crowd...
meanwhile in the 20 teens we are building production v8 motorcycles look up boss hoss ... and they are 2 wheelers not trikes ..... I have stood next to a road legal jag V12 powered trike
Disco's Definitely Dead...
The cartoon was from the Banana Splits show and it was Motor Mouse and Auto Cat....Motor Mouse had the chopper and Auto Cat had the rail dragster that he kept customizing by adding more and more donks.
Rod Bathgate mush mouse and auto cat?
@@geoffwebb8357 ....ah that would be mush mouse and punkin puss...the hillbillys...mushmouse never rode a chopper...it was definitely motor mouse
That has got to be one of the best thumbnails for a video I have ever seen.
somebody send a big UK map to marty!
That chopper matchbox is very cool. Ive never see none.. Need one for my collection now.. Great vid. Allways enjoy these unboxing vids.
Hi Marty.all the way from South Africa. Love your channel.give SA a shout out on your channel please or the Spring Boks.😏👌🏻👌🏻
Please go Ecto 1 on the Cadillac ambulance! Ghostbusters!
Hallo Marty
The City of " Bad Waldsee " is a little Town in " Oberschwaben " in English i beleve " County " .
It is between Ulm and Ravensburg in South Germany .
An by the Way, Ulm has the biggest Chappeltower in the World !
Greetings from Dornstadt a little Town near Ulm .
Bad Waldsee is 65 Kilometer from here !
By and sorry for my bad English !
Holger Korda
@3:52 A mouse? Maybe you're thinking of the children's books by Beverly Cleary, featuring Ralph S. Mouse. The first one in that line was "The Mouse and the Motorcycle." Ralph could drive a little toy motorcycle by making motor sounds.
@23:45 Sounds like they're communion cups for a denomination that doesn't hold with alcohol.
@36:12 What a lovely tribute!
@38:54 Hey! We can actually see the Bodensee (Lake Constance) on that map!
In Rod and Custom and CARtoons Magazine Big Daddy Ed Roth created a cartoon called "Rat Fink" who was pictured driving hot rods and motorcycles. When Chopper Magazine started, Roth's motorcycle character was used also. Rat Fink was a exaggerated grotesque rat.
motor mouse and auto cat
The old 3 wheel Reliant Regal ... Classic. The Reliant company changed hands a couple of times before finally going out of business in the late 90s/ early noughtys. The last guy that bought the company was a farmer. He gave saving the company a good go but just couldn't do it :( End of a classic.
Lichen that Reliant Robin (keep it away from Minis). Note the motor on that bike had 'Lledo' stamped into it.
It's a Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Badger, Rolamatic...
Actually, the van used in Only Fools and Horses is a Reliant Regal Supervan Mk. III. Only know that because I've seen many of them racing in the UK!
As for the chopper, besides the various references to Biker Mice from Mars already mentioned, there was also a series by Hanna Barbera shown in the UK in the 1970s called Motor Mouse and Autocat where the mouse did indeed ride around on a bike like that, albeit without a horse head.
Maybe you can paint the Jags in multiple colors or the original color and as for the VW Bugs I think it would be nice to see you fix your first German Diecast Car and I guess the Mercedes Benz is going to be your Second Maybe you should do German Diecast Car Episode or what you may got in mind for a restoration episode I have gotten myself a few Siku Diecast Vehicles a Cement Mixer, a Crane and a Flatbed Truck & Trailer hauling a excavator that I'd got at a Mall Store during the 2000's and they were not cheap because they were not easy to get here in America.
hi Marty, glad you got the models. just for info', the wild honey model was based on a real dragster - an Austin Ruby (if i remember correctly) built by the Ison brothers in the UK. it was powered by a Jaguar straight six engine!
The Only fools and horses 3 wheeler is a Reliant Regal supervan. The chopper is one of a set of about 4 different versions as far as i know, they were nothing to do with any cartoon though? i think it was just because in the 70's in the UK there was a thriving Custom car and bike scene. However, we did get Motor Mouse and Autocat cartoons here. loved the video and glad you like them - being a bit different to your normal models
Marty, the ferrari F1 car that Tony sent you is a 1961 yr F1. The first rear engined F1 car that Ferrari built. And the first time that a North American driver won the F1 championship. Phil Hill won the last race of the season at Monza Italy. In that race Von tripps in another Ferrari was leading the Championship points with Hill a close second in points. Von tripps was involved in an accident in that race and was killed along with 15 spectators and Hill won the race and the championship. Certainly a bitter-sweet victory. the point is that the decal numbers are incorrect. the Ferrari team were using the numbers 22, 23, and 24. (I think) Tonight is my night to have an after dinner brandy so you get my point. It would be great if you used Phils number in tribute to him or Von Tripps number in his honour.
Might I suggest the Scammell recovery truck is in British Army Bronze Green, rather than the olive drab used by the Americans. Bronze green is more of a true green (blue + yellow), whereas olive green has brown hues. While the description is difficult to understand, try matching the colours side by side and the difference is obvious. I would start with a dark green for Bronze Green and add blue or yellow, whereas I would start with a mid brown and add green for Olive Drab. As might be expected, OD is a matt finish, whereas Bronze green should have a sheen as it was nearer gloss finish.
Another MMM video!
The kind you thumbs up before watching :D
Nice one Marty and some awesome fan mail again
ATB GL & HH
LittleJohn_MD 🇬🇧
I never thought I would become a pedant but here goes. It's a Reliant Robin. NOT a Robin Reliant. It's like saying it's an Escort Ford! Sorry😳
Pantera was the ultimate car if you didnt want the Ferrari, Lambo, Mazzi, Bentley, Mercedes.. etc. Still sought after today 14:15
Sikus are the shit in Europe! They were sturdier and heavier than Matchboxes and Hot Wheels (never liked Hot Wheels meself), which were half made of plastic, whereas the Sikus were mostly metal. The Sikus also featured German (surprise, surprise) models, unlike the other two that only seldom featured European cars.
A quick google on some of the suggestions here would definitely point to Motormouse & Autocat. Biker Mice From Mars had a sports bike and more typically styled choppers.
Motor mouse & Auto Cat cartoons. Steve gave you nice ones. You have no need of brushes ever again. Gotta love those supply parcels. The cups have got to be fine for Tamiya or Mr. Hobby paints. That last one is an oldie also. The box did look old.
I was bought the Wild Honey thing by a short-sighted grandma who must have picked one the few toys in the village post office shop in the early 1970s for my birthday. The bright colour in the blister pack must have caught her eye. I was so disappointed with it. It is in the loft space now. Unloved.
Isn't the red rollamatic an airport fire truck that has a foam sprayer in the roof?
do you mean Hanna-Barbera's Motormouse and Autocat cartoon?
Siku Models are really good quality- or were- but were always expensive in the UK, if I went overseas with the VAT and exchange rates they were not cheap in Holland where i would have expected them to be cheaper.
Biker mice from Mars cartoon series,,Marty!!
Look at the bike engine,,its Leido too!!
The Ford GT was white
My brother had the US Mail Jeep. It should have a white soft top. Memories! The double sided brush, I think, is for dentures.
If he was rinsing grape juice out of them, those little cups are repurposed communion cups, probably from his church. Many Protestant churches use unfermented grape juice instead of wine for communion, that way children and pregnant women can also partake.
Why does everyone always assume that every stray curly hair is a pubic hair? There are a lot of people with curly hair and beards, even dogs with coats like that. Why automatically assume it's a pube? Especially when it's in a place that would make that highly unlikely, like stuck to packing tape. This is like the third or fourth video this week to make that particular assumption. Why always assume the worst?
Siku have been producing some fabulous diecasts for some time.i have quite a large number of Siku lorries, almost all to 1/55th scale.the cars,i think, are of the same scale.
I had that same purple trike when I was a kid in the 70's. Sorry, but I don't remember any details about it. It is kinda a cool feeling though watching you unwrap one of my childhood toys I had forgotten about.
Was it a cartoon called 'Biker Mice From Mars', by any chance, Marty? The Wild Honey was a real dragster based on an old Austin Seven.
Noted your surprise at the V8 chopper. There are real V8 motorbikes. Look up Boss Hoss bikes. They have small block and big block chev V8’s lol
Iphones last 6 months..Matchbox cars 80 years plus and counting - much better value for money I think
There is also a children's book called "the mouse and the motorcycle" by (I think) Ralph Waldo emerson
