Perhaps the judge initially thought him coming forward and his clothes matching the description in the area wasn't enough to issue a search warrant. Until further evidence was found (at a later date) like the unspent bullet and perhaps finding out he is a registered gun owner; that would be sufficient information to issue a search warrant to see if his gun matches unspent bullet?

Thanks for focusing on accountability. They had one adult male seen multiple times, confessing to wearing Bridge Guy's outfit and witnessed wearing bloody clothing and he owned a gun and they knew what the vehicle might look like. it should have been solved years ago. I am going to say that Occam's Razor needed to be written on the board at the police station.

It's enough evidence for an arrest but is it enough to have without reasonable doubt? Others are reporting the gun is a mass manufactured (common) gun.

The 8 page affidavit is easy to find online and a simple read. With only a few people out on the bridge, that day and time, knowing Richard Allen was there with eye witness stating they saw a bloody, muddy man and being in a small town...WHAT TOOK 5 YEARS? Did he have a hunting ground out of the area and killed prior and after Delphi? I'd say yes he did and shame on that police investigation.

Surely you would expect an investigation team to focus on statements from people in the area around that time. They had 3 girls say they seen a man with jeans, blue jacket and hood who was a bit creepy and didn't respond to them saying 'hi'.That he kept his head down so they couldn't see his face clearly. They had another person who witnessed a man of similar description covered in mud and blood. And had Richard Allen tell them he walked past 3 girls but didn't notice details about them because he was looking down at his phone. Just those alone should have led to a more in depth interview with Allen then, not 5 years later.

      So true.
Somehow i hope there is another guy who was on the trail who could have looked like him, and police somehow felt confident this was the guy they described. That would however leave Allen as a person on the trail without anyone noticing, which is almost worse..
This looks like one of the worst police investigations ever... and unless they can actually explain what led to this set of massive mistakes, anyone involved should be fired.
From the looks of it this case should have been solved easily within the first 12 months.

With a small town, you’re familiar with everyone around you. You know your neighbors - many times, you have grown up with them, so you’re likely to be more trusting. Not locking your doors. I've always wondered why Richard Allen left Libby's phone at the crime scene? I would've thought he would've either seen her recording him, or specifically looked for potentially damning evidence on the victim's phones, or found the phone while removing clothing items.
I also hope there's a damn good reason why it took over 5 years of resources and trauma for the families and public, and over 5 extra years for an unhinged, dangerous child killer to possibly strike again!

Yet like the typical narcissist, he got really comfortable for over 5 years thinking he got away with murder. Man, the investigating of this case is baffling to me:
    • The cops had no problems revealing the identities of anyone else even considered a suspect…but THIS guy was never considered a suspect?
    • Only a second of the audio/video was ever released…so, the cops obv had a lot more to go on than just the blip we saw/heard.
    • The two suspect sketches look nothing alike…and nothing like this guy. Not even slightly.
    • the unspent bullet makes me feel like he possibly ejected a bullet as a warning…? proving that it’s loaded, to force the girls to comply, maybe. I don’t recall any witnesses claiming to hear a shot that day. My bet is that he used a knife. I recall hearing it was a bloody crime scene. 😢
_What I never understood was why the cops never released more of the video of the man approaching or the audio of his voice._
But they release the 1st sketch, then revealed the identity of a suspect who looked identical to the sketch, then say he was no longer a suspect (w/o details)…then release a second sketch that looked nothing like the first one. I can’t help but wonder how much video, of the man approaching, Libby actually captured. How close he got before she put her phone down. Because if there was clearer footage of this man’s face…it makes no sense for the cops to not have released it years ago
And to find out that the killer came to them, in 2017, and presented them with incriminating evidence…and they were just like, “thank you for your help…have a nice day.”

It's outragious that a man from small, cosy Delphi, fitting the age and general description, down to figure and clothing, who lived near the trail, could slip through the net for 5 years, even if he had not talked to police early on. Regardless if he's guilty or not, he should have been top on their list right away in 2017. But just like in the Green River Case, the Ted Bundy investigation and in so many other high profile cases all the information was in the files, while an army of jealous law enforcement went searching for a big gray animal with the elefant right there in the room. All the internet speculations about a ring of pedophiles surely didn't help to keep their brains straight, a thesis that didn't make sense at all. Nor did the suspicion of the old guy living there who obviously could not be the guy on the video. And still people can't let go of these theories. All that does is help his defense if and when he goes to trial.

This will be my first negative comment on this channel. Your assuming to much . IF HE IS GUILTY HE DESERVES PUNISHMENT.But you already convicted him without a trail. A lot what I hear is HEARSAY so give the man a fair trail. Muddy clothes doesn’t mean he killed them. Couldn’t it be he fell down or slipped yeaaaz if I have dirt on my clothes does that mean I killed somebody? I don’t know where his trail will be held but you sure make it impossible to find a juror with an open mind since they heard all the so called facts and hearsay statements.
And that is the danger of the involvement of the media who wants to be judge , prosecution and jurors.
AGAIN I PRAY FOR THE FAMILIES WHO LOST THEIR PRECIOUS CHILDREN BUT IF JUSTICE MUST BE DONE MAKE IT A CASE WITH TIGHT
EVIDENCE. SORRY I just wanted to share my point and not wanted to defend this guy but it’s still the law innocent until proven guilty. 😢
