- A San Francisco bookstore is sending boxes of LGBTQ+ books to parts of the country where they are censored to counter the rapidly growing effort by conservative advocacy groups and lawmakers to ban them from public schools and libraries. The bookstore has already sent more than 700 books around the country to places like Florida, Texas, and Missouri, where many of the book bans have taken place. Any adult individual should be able to borrow or purchase any book they want, anywhere in America. But sexually explicit materials should not be in children's school libraries. Period.

Books are absolutely banned in conservative state schools and libraries. This is not a matter of debate, it is an ongoing and easily tracked issue where the lists of books are actually released by the schools and libraries in question. The conservative tactic of denying objective reality is especially weak sauce here, mate.

Schools are not states. 🙃 The only books not in school libraries are those that are sexually explicit & inappropriate for the age of the students. They're available in public libraries & for purchase everywhere. Stop stretching the truth to fit your narrative/agenda. Schools are not states. Books are not banned. They're available in libraries & are for sale everywhere. Age inappropriate books are not in school libraries of younger students. Stop spreading 🤥. 🇺🇲🙏🏼💞

LGBTQ+ books need to stay out of the children’s library. Especially in a school setting where parents can’t oversee book choices. They are appropriate for 13 years+ in a public library and bookstores where parents can make the decision whether their child is ready for the information. I do not believe in banning books. Librarian of almost 20 years. Public, private school PS - 12, college.
