Ha, I heard someone say "Bring the Thunder!" when you were trying to start the car. This is what is so cool about the car community. When Holley (sp?) stepped in with 4 or 5 guys just to get your car running really shows how dedicated these people are to get your Challenger running.
But she finally ran and drove under her own power! Congratulations! It's just amazing what you've accomplished here. Really great job!

I owned my 89 camaro for nine months now. Bought it for $500 and have put so much heart and soul into it. Rebuilding everything. I mean at one point I asked myself if this car had ever had a part changed on it. But a few days ago I was finally able to get plates for her and tags. Now she is fully legal for the road and I have been absolutely enjoying driving her. Such a beautiful car and just a ton of fun. I laugh every time I think about how a year ago this car wasn't running at all. And now she bursts to life everytime I turn the key. Of course I still have more to do. But I am really proud. Glad you were able to get the challenger going Dylan. Keep on keeping on.

Dylan, I think that everyone whom have watched you re- build this neglected amd forgotten Challenger, felt exactly as you did when it roared to life and it moved under it's own power and it was amazing! The shaking, sweating, anxiety, and nail biting was warranted! But the feeling of it finaly coming to life and moving had to be intoxicating. You've had great support from the industry, and most of all family. That is the best anyone could ask for! Now, I believe we're all anticipating the final satisfaction, of the massive first roast of those tires!!! Congratulations!!!

Great, GREAT build! I had a '73 Charger back in '83 when I was 16, bright yellow, red trim and black vinyl top. Same weak 318 as the original in your car. I had so many plans for that car; but, I joined the Army the next year and the I passed the car on to my brother. The work that you put into bringing this old Challenger back to life is inspiration.

Dylan an amazing job bringing this Challenger back to life! I reminds me a lot of the 73 Challenger with 340 & Pistol Grip Four Speed & the same color that I bought back in 1980! I was the third owner & it was in basically almost new condition. I sold it to a guy who totalled it in less than a month! That was a sad day seeing it destroyed at the local body shop! Anyhow I really enjoy your channel & this build! As always I am looking forward to the next video!

So glad you have her running again. I learn to drive in my bothers 1971 Challenger R/T 440 magnum six pack. Same pistol grip shifter. When I saw the shifter in this video I was instantly transported back. I could feel the grip and see the that yellow orange glow from the reverse light. It was amazing. Thank you so much for that memory. All the best!

I actually had a sigh of relief when it fired up. And it’s not even my car! I’m proud of you, Dylan, as I’m sure that your dad is, too. You are a direct reflection of your parents, their hard working attitudes, and grounded principles. You thanked a lot of people, but it is we, the general public, that also owe thanks to you, for providing us with insight, entertainment, and inspiration. And, with that, I must get back to work on my 1980 D150 ClubCab pickup. See you on the boulevard! (Honey! Get ahold of Copart and locate a Hemi for me, will ya?)

    Dylan ..
    Look man !
Im 32 years old , From Giza in Egypt . I dun know much about mechanics but i do learn through videos and all of that via youtube
Its actually my dream to be professional enough so that i could do at least 10% of what u have done to ur car .
I wont lie and i will admit it .. i've been watching all the videos u made about reviving this challenger and man ! ,, the min i heard her roaring after 36 years , i couldnt help myself and had my eyes in tears for real ..
Im really hope that my time comes and have my immigration process done so i could have a chance to witness all that in real , cause in my country here its too rare to find old american cars and thats what i really want , is to own an old american car & also for sure to be with my wife back again .. damn its been so long since i saw her .
I wish u the best Dylan .. u r doing real good work , u did revive the dead and u had ur miracle
    Way to go ..

I must admit, vicarious as it was, I was looking forward to this moment. It is a huge accomplishment, and as you said, "small victories end up winning the war." Even if it comes down to one pesky wire; you stick with it and overcome the inner desire to give up and let frustration have its way, it is a testimony of perseverance. I'm glad for you brother, keep up the good work.

watching this series gave me inspiration to start my own project. I've always wanted to do a restoration project but I never thought I would be able to not having any experience but a few months after finding your channel I came across an old all but abandoned 66 mustang v8 In my new boss's yard. I immediately bought it about 7 months ago not knowing what I was getting myself into but you inspired me to try. the day I got that engine to fire up was like pure euphoria and present day she's nearly road worthy. I just want to say thanks for your videos and inspiration

Dylan I'm so glad to hear it running!!! I could see it in your eyes that you were emotional about it. Almost made me cry bro..lol. It just goes to show that with hard work and dedication great classic cars can be brought back to life. I wish I had a Mustang Mach 1 to work on. Are you going to do any bodywork later? I have learned SO much from you and the car community that you hang with (Junkyard Digs, Thunderhead289 etc). My father had a Mach 1 when I was a kid. I remember helping him in the garage and loving it. Unfortunately he has passed on. I would love something to work on. I live in NY State and a lot of the classics are rusted pretty bad because of snow. I've been looking for barn finds but no luck. Maybe someday I'll get lucky. As far as your car I would grid all the paint off till it's chrome then just clear coat it so it has that Delorean look lol. Peace.

On mine I dropped in the rebuilt 340 but the machine shop forgot to modify the steel crank for the auto trans.
I pulled it out and they modified the crank. Put the engine back but the rear seal was now messed up, pulled it again, fixed the seal.

12:40 The black hatch was a 1989 Shelby CSX, a Dodge Shadow with 174-hp turbo 2.2L, beefed up suspension, 16" wheels and tires, and a 5-speed manual. They were capable of running in the low 15's, at a time when an 8 second 0-60 time was acceptable. Super rare car.
