    Ok yea your right 45 is slower than 9mm, and so on but not slow enough that people can dodge it like the freakin matrix ok same with a 380 so im comfident that you can effectively defend yourself and your home wether you choose to use a 22 or a 380 or a 40 or a 45 or a 9 period. People dont listen to this dipshit use whatever makes you happy, what you can shoot effectively and is reliable for you. Everyone is different. And you dont need a 22 roynd mag to defend youself. 10 rds in a sub compact like glock 26 or p365x or even an m&p shield 2.0 or shit even glock 380 can be used to protect yourself. This moron thinks that you need to carry a full size pistol with 20+ rounds is what you need to carry and hes sadly mistaken and misleading in a horribke way DONT LISTEN TO THIS DIPSHIT

    I know a lot of gun owners love running smaller guns as their "duty/everyday carry"weapon but I prefer full size because I'm a bigger man and I can still iwb conceal. Plus I shoot well with full sized pistols. So I carry a Beretta 92x rdo with orange trijicon HD night sights and the aftermarket trigger that they put in the performance model in my handgun as well.

    The events of 2014 changed my thought process on duty pistols. I swapped from the 1911 in .45 ( that I'd been carrying forever) to the 2011 in 9mm. Same gun, more hate on tap to distribute as needed. Add a red dot in 20 for aging eyes and thats where I am. XC with X300V w/DG switch and Trijicon RMR HD red dot. Not cheap but i like me a lot.😅

    A weird quirk about glock mags, I've noticed in a P80 compact build (over 2000 rounds with a grand total of 3 malfunctions, 2 of which was the ammo. One was a heavier recoil spring I since stopped using. It's reliable), glock mags rattling is the most annoying crap ever. I had one 15 round gen 5 glock 19 mag that would not stop rattling no matter how hard I tried between unloading and reloading, and tapping the bottom when fully loaded. The mags that didn't rattle when fully loaded did rattle when the top round was chambered, and 14 were left in the magazine. Loaded firearm may as well be maracas when shaken. Magpul's gl9 15 round does not do this.
    Magpul gl9 feed lip design is such that the top cartridge's extraction rim was shrouded from getting caught on the rear wall of the magazine slot (at least in the pf940c frame), while the OEM mag geometry does allow that to happen. Essentially, using the magpul gl9 was like having a magwell without adding a magwell with this particular frame where I could miss the magwell by a half inch to the rear, and it will still slide right into the grip where the top cartridge from an OEM mag will get caught.
    Also, most of those 2000+ rounds went through the same two magpul magazines I marked for range/training use that I haven't cleaned since the day I bought them. They're caked and baked in carbon from HSTs, fort scott TUIs, underwood extreme defenders, blazers, federal white box, barnes, lawmans, purple and red federal syntechs just out of curiosity for how long will they go.
    Anyway, all this to say I have a reason for using magpul mags in EDC for it's lack of reliability issues thus far, smoother reloading in a particular firearm, and not sounding like a mariachi band member when walking around.
    The low price is alright too I guess, but not that much of a priority since it's not like we're dealing with HK magazine prices here.

      I agree I hate the glocl mag rattle one of the perks of the extensions is it can* get rid of it. I too have found the magpul mags to be utterly reliable, it's used to be the same way but recently I have noticed some unreliable stuff from them, amend 2 is decent but foe the price I'll roll magpul

    Good Video! Good explanation as always. My duty is. CZ P-09 9mm with a threaded barrel and rds, x300 turbo. I can carry 26 rounds of Fort Scott 80gr+p TUI in the gun at once with a +5 base plate for SHTF. If it's in a Home defense load out I run seismic 185gr (9mm) NATO. I have over 11k rounds in my P-07 set up similarly. My P-09 only has 2k rounds but I trust it. True duty guns, primary machine slide work, DPM Spring System flatens and increases reliability.

    The good thing about "Freedom" is that we all have the freedom to have our own little opinions. Caliber is not nearly as important as the gun that you have, meaning.......You are confident with that gun, it's the one you can afford, it's 100% reliable, you train with it regularly and you are very proficient with the gun. I would be more afraid of a guy that trains every week with a 22LR than a guy that uses the latest and greatest nato round but doesn't train very much. So, it all depends on one's situation. Not to mention....for me, a handgun is only to be used to get me to my rifle.

    it’s like all the improvements made to the 9mm that made hollow point 9mm work as well as 45 acp ball, didn’t also happen to the 45 acp hollow points too.

      I think the problem with it is that they had to start with a “hack” - modifying the basics because the round itself was from the get-go too slow to *reliably* expand. I love 45ACP, but if I was a LEO, I’d run 40 or 9mm.

    When I first became an LEO in 1989, I had to provide my own duty weapon (S&W Gen 3 9mm). One department had an 'approved for duty list'. My last one didn't. If I could qualify with it, I could carry it. Except for a 1911. My Chief didn't understand the 1911, so... In 2003 my department standardized on G22 and G23 duty weapons. I chose the G22, and proceeded to shoot 6 perfect scores of '100' during qualification. We used the Safariland Raptor duty holster.

    If you want a really good 10mm experience, I'll highly recommend the Sig P320 XTEN. It's a little heavier, because of the bull barrel, but shoots bear load 10mm, and feels like a 9mm. It's one of the pistols with which I am most accurate.

    Good video as always. I didn't agree with every single point, but that's okay - the important points of carrying what is dependable and what you are good with, are spot on. I'm also starting to wonder something else... It almost seems like 40 S&W is making a quiet comeback. I have spoken to a lot of people that are switching back to it recently because they just like it better. I'm just getting into that caliber, I'm still a 45 guy at heart, and I carry 9mm quite a bit, but the 40 gives me the smaller pistol with big bore performance. I've had several back surgeries and there's some nerve damage and a lot of pain and carrying the 45 or 10 mm is kind of hard to do because of the larger frames. Anyway, keep on coming!

    • @johnemmert9012
      @johnemmert9012 9 місяців тому

      I mean, game on for you and your area, but most box stores where I am at aren't stocking them. A decently duty oriented store near me literally has a 10:1 ratio of 9mm duty and defense ammo compared to .40. It's dead around here; I just never saw the interest when some guns don't last as long compared to 9mm and .45.

    • @BlueRidgeCritter
      @BlueRidgeCritter 9 місяців тому

      @@johnemmert9012 yeah, I don't know. Here, in the western part of Virginia, I'm seeing more different 40 loadings than I've seen in a long time showing up every month. Obviously, 9 mm has the most because it's the "darling" right now. The surprising part, though, is I'm saying 10mm go down again. I was just telling one of the shops I get ammo at, that I was glad I had stocked up a few years ago on 10 mm. It kind of saw resurgence, and there for a while I could find several loadings at any time, but now most places only have one or two.

    • @BlueRidgeCritter
      @BlueRidgeCritter 9 місяців тому

      @@johnemmert9012 the interest for me is in the size of the gun. Yes, there is more wear on 40. But I have learned over the past couple of years that that's somewhat of a myth, most people will never shoot it enough to wear it out. And I haven't seen much wear on my Glock from shooting it quite a bit, no more than anything else. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm just saying I'm not really seeing it. But the big thing is the frame sizes. It's hard for me with my back to carry 45 size frames comfortably. I will carry nine, and I have a number of 9 mm pistols. I just don't like the caliber as well. Here's the problem. 9 mm can be quite effective, but in order to get the performance, you have to use +p or +p+. And if you want to talk about wear and damage to pistols, there you go. And I have seen quite a bit of wear on a couple of mine from shooting +p. It's almost kind of a no win situation with smaller pistols, until you get into the bigger frames.

    As always spot on Uncle! Thanks for having the balls to say it! Technology has come a long way. I see people shoot guns every week day in and day out. The key is practice, practice, practice, people you have to go shoot! If you haven’t fired your weapon in weeks or months you need to go shoot! I literally have had someone tell me I’m ready for anything even though they admitted to not having fired their carry gun in months! I just had to say keep it in the holster!😊

    Quick question: Does your Dept. dictate what your ON Duty sidearm has to be? The reason I ask is, a few years ago, I had an encounter with a MN DNR 'Game Warden' while I was open carrying one of my Springfield 1911's. During our discusion, he said, "Damn, I wish I could carry a 1911 on duty!" I replied, "Why not?", then went onto explain the thing that I hadn't considered. He replied, "Commonality/standardization." If need be, I can grab a magazine from an officer that may be 'down', if I need to."
    Keep your videos coming!

    Hey bud…question? First off, i’m so glad I watched this video before making this purchase just in case. I trust your judgment on ballistics 100% You stated 9mm is a max grain weight of 150.
    This place in Houston called 2a warehouse is selling a 165 grain 9mm projectile. I’ve never purchased anything from them and found that odd that I’ve never seen a 165 grain 9mm
    What’s your take on that load for suppressed use?

    I appreciate you covering other calibers. It may be a stupid reason, but my "duty" weapon is .45acp because I'm trying to keep as much of my hearing as possible, and it being a lower velocity round, 12-15db inside a building actually makes a hell of a difference, take it from a sound guy and musician. But I'll freely admit if my duty changed to something more action directed, I'd rather have a 9mm with more capacity. As you say, it's just up to each person's version of duty, as long as it's reliable

    Very well-articulated, excellent advice on this subject. It got me thinking about why the factory trigger (or Glock performance) is intentionally not upgraded/replaced for a duty pistol. As a uspsa shooter, I regularly witness (and experience firsthand) that when the factory fire control is replaced or modified to gain improved trigger performance, reliability often suffers. While nobody wants to experience a malfunction on a stage or (yikes) a qualifier, it's not life-or-death. So I feel it's ok to screw around with triggers for competition-only pistols, while I feel like it would be unacceptable to have anything other than a factory trigger in a defensive firearm.

    Tiers that share brands is because of differnt models within that brand.

    Long time, no comment. Point to be made in ammo selection is geography. Bullet weight and type isn't universal due to clothing. Bullets that work well in the southern states where its always T Shirt weather, won't necessarily the best choice in a Montana or NY winter. Now that said, I share a quick tale. 1989 my boss invites me to the range to shoot his "new gun." It was a 1st gen Glock and one of the 1st 100 in the US. After shooting it, I told him. "You wasted your money. Aint no one going to buy a "plastic gun" and it's just a gimmick.... Yeah, I should have bought stock. Stay safe brother.

While there's a lot of great advancements made in bullet technology, there are still differences in scenarios that should be considered.

    Off-duty alternates between a p365 macro and an ages-old g19. Sig gets a tlr-7sub since that's the biggest it fits and Glock gets lr1-hl. I've run the snot out of both (documented 20k+ through the Glock, barely 2k through the Sig) and trust both to go bang exactly when I want them to every time. Duty gun we don't have a say in: Sig p320, hot off the assembly line after we sent our first batch back for the trigger job years back. Also dead nuts reliable with somewhere north of 6k rounds. I don't enjoy shooting it but the thing works. Still fighting the powers that be about getting wmls on all issued firearms.

      @unclefreedom213  9 місяців тому +1

      How do you like the Macro? The 320s just take some getting used to for sure I have 5 of them my top round count is a 320 compact right at 13k I'm a stickler for keeping accurate round count and maintainece logs. Something I used to get wml issued for everything was a night shoot where I forced the issue shooting wounded shooter drills in the dark. It exposed why a light on the gun was indispensable. Any help I can give you shoot me an email anything I can do for a brother to get more capabilities

    • @Two_Names
      @Two_Names 9 місяців тому +1

      @@unclefreedom213 The macro is fine. It's at least as accurate as my Glock and issued Sig, but sits lower in the hand. Mine is the original "comp" version and it does the job for slightly more controlled follow-ups but it's definitely not a real compensator like a ramjet. I have never been able to induce a failure with a weak grip and it's been flawless for reliability on a steady diet of gold dots and blazer (2:1, yes I've put over a case of gold dots through it trying to troubleshoot a holosun 407k since I refuse to zero on range ammo).
      Downsides: grip texture, heat, and rail space. I really wish they'd been a little more aggressive on texture and placement. Easily fixed by grip tape of some kind or stippling. The heat is just a small gun issue. Rip off a couple mags in a competition or "really bad day" drill and you might have to wait a little to shoot again if you don't wear gloves. Never once brought my g19 or p320 to that kind of heat. It's close to AR handguard heat, it will absolutely get your attention. Rail space really annoys me because it's one stupid pic section too short for a tlr1. That's such a Sig-like miss.
      Overall verdict is good concealed carry gun, but only that. The few downsides are enough to keep it from being great, and to me the limit on light capacity relegates it to deep conceal carry when for some reason I can't carry the g19+tlr1.
      Re: policy, I appreciate it brother and I might shoot you an email. We currently have wml issue gated behind an elective class one must qualify to attend as one part of yearly in service training. If you can't make the dates or course fill up or you aren't a priority, not allowed to equip a light even if it's yours and you provide the holster. Progress is slow but the current training division guys are really pushing for blanket wml issuance. Big city departments are just slow sometimes.

    9mm is cheaper to train with and as capable as the other popular rounds. It all comes down to shot placement and the best way to get better at placing shots in crucial areas is to train. The cheaper it is to train the more people train.
    -
    More rounds, same capabilities, cheaper rounds, various duty rounds for different purposes, better recoil control which leads to a better cadence of fire, reliability and an innumerable number of quality platforms to shoot it with. The best ammo choice debate has been a silly one for a long time.

    You got me to read up on the Miami shootout. A 38 Spc revolver is not the weapon to bring to a rifle fight. 😅 it’s just not, also I’m not surprised they ditched revolvers. You could fill a Glock with blood and it would keep on firing without a care. I think caliber had less to do with it than technology. Reloading striker fired pistol is already half done, don’t leave home without extra mags already loaded. With modern pistol technology I really can’t see it ending the same way. There would have been a lot more rounds on target and projectile technology has improve significantly. Nothing against 45 or 10mm. I’m very confident in my sig Xmacro with 17 rnd mags loaded with 90gr Lehigh extreme defender. 2 mags are more than enough for 99% of all instances where my pistol may see service.

    On a side note, as to WWII. Russia had manpower, they did not have the manufacturing capability.
    We were essentially their manufacturing base. Without us, they would NOT have been able to do ANYTHING close to what they did. They had a general at the end of the war who said that without American 2.5T trucks, they would have lost.
    So, WE won the war with a Russian assist.

    actually revolvers do have a small niche they fit into as far as duty. Lot of blue states are trying to get rid of semi handguns and rifles. In those states its a lot better to get pulled over by law enforcement with a 357 lever action and revolver in the back of your trunk than with a semi pistol and a ar15. You reload just like me if you look at the charts on how 357 magnum performs out of a 16 inch barrel lever action using alliant 2400 you can move a 158 grain jacketed bullet up to 1900 feet per second which is approaching the low end of a 30-30 lever action at a 100 yards. If you trained with this system all the time a person could become pretty effective with it.
