    You're on of the very few gun guys on UA-cam I find myself agreeing with on almost everything. Like you said, your primary weapon is the one you have on you, and for 99% of people in America, that's going to be a handgun. Carbines are easier and more fun to shoot, but I'm not a soldier, SWAT guy or a cop with a patrol rifle. When I leave the house I don't have an AR, I have my Glock 19. Hell, even around the house, that's the gun I have *on me*, so it's the gun I train with the most. I even bought the Mantis-X to step up my dry fire practice. That thing is totally worth the money for the detailed feedback it provides.

    Awesome video as always! I got into firearms a couple years ago with buying a Glock 45 as my first. I promised myself that if I was going to bring a firearm into my house, I was going to consistently train and take as many classes as I could. Two years later, I’ve taken beginner and advanced pistol classes, drill classes, active shooter classes and rifle classes, over and over again. Some of my friends think I’m crazy, but I learn something new in each class, and, practice makes perfect! Your training budget (class fees and ammo) should always cost 10x more than what you paid for your firearms. Too many people these days are buying firearms, shoving them in closets and have no clue how to use them. Take classes and regularly train!

    • @unclefreedom213
      @unclefreedom213  Рік тому +2

      I agree with training and I take a lot of classes but I also stop taking classes when I get a bunch I need to work on. Then I train a bunch on my own until I master stuff then I find a new type of class or a different instructor so I get a new perspective

    Train and shoot within your budget as well. If you can either buy a new part or buy ammo, choose ammo and shoot that. I don’t have the luxury of having a lot of expendable income so I have to be careful where it goes. And I still do my best to not let my readiness and safety be jeopardized. Which for me means a lot of dry fire. Life is a balance. Be safe. Be kind.

    Awesome video man lots of good hard hitting points in this one. And I’m definitely guilty of not shooting my pistol as much as rifle,i always tell myself I’m going to goto the pistol range twice as much but i never do.
    I’ve had a flux raider for a little over a year and it goes with me pretty much everywhere but i still carry my pistol just because i can get to it faster. The raider is in my backpack with a medkit,level 3a panel and whatever else i have with me at the time as like an “active shooter response kit”.

    I love the rant. I try to train with my carry gun at least once a month. I normally practice at 30 ft. I can hit a 30 by 30 circle target. I am not as accurate as i would like. I train at that distance because i feel that would be the most likely range i would need to defend myself at.

    I disagree on the should fit ones hand to some degree. With the vast market that is out there and the ease to rent pistols. If they can't reach the trigger and shift their hand around the grip doesn't help bad index from the holster either. On some models some people constantly ride the slide stop or throw the pistol around in their hand to get to the mag release. If they dislike working the pistol they'll train less. The issue with "fits my hand better" is imo that nobody tells newbies what to look for to check if it fits them in enough detail. They still buy cause someone in a movie has it, they like the color or what the sales guy wants to move atm.

    Great video, it’s funny to hear you talk about some of the very mistakes I made getting into this.
    Seeing LE transition from 9mm, to .40 and back to 9mm prompted some course correcting research. 9mm is king for two legged predators to me right now when you consider mag capacity, effectiveness, ease of follow up shots, ammo availability etc.
    I see you’re carrying a 320, as a LEO I’m guessing the lawsuits from other officers who said it went off, untouched, doesn’t bother you.
    Thanks for the great content.

    Retired Disabled Veteran here, I found your stuff to be no apologies just professional opinion and experience. I am currently trying to get some of my friends past their misconceptions about what it means when SHTF. I served 27 years and did it all. Everything from dropping someone to saving someone's life that was blowing blood and snot bubbles. What you put out might upset a few people, but if it makes them reconsider what they thought they knew.... Well, that's a good thing. This video is a perfect example. Except maybe the flannel shirt and overalls ... So... Mister Golson... Let's get to the meat. A very basic precept in psychology is that people will take advice from a stranger more willingly than someone that is close to them. (Ask your wife or kids) I use your videos to show my newbies to this stuff that I am not being mean when I tell them their shit is jacked up and might just get them dead. I'm a big guy and CAN concealed carry a full-size weapon. That doesn't mean that I don't carry at LEAST one back up weapon. Knives? Got drawers full of them in my toolbox. At least one in my pocket. Boot knife. Hidden Push Blade in my belt. TASERs and ASPs? As you said: "If they got that close, I fucked up." Truth! Personally, I like to be that nasty surprise in the dark. Glad to see you found an outlet, and that you are getting better at it. Keep it up.

      Bear in mind that I'm not a police officer, so I don't normally mind having it nearby but not in a quick draw position. I wear baggy cargo shorts a lot, which makes the G3 the most comfortable way to carry that I've found. Prior to carrying, I was in 3 situations where someone pulled a firearm. All 3 times, it was quick wit and quick feet that saved me. This is usually my first line of defense.

    .40 was created as 10mm was too hot for the FBI. So they necked it down and the .40 S&W was born and implanted in a 9mm size handgun. That is why it’s “high pressure” and beats the brakes off of 9mm glock frames. If they built the gun around the round it would be ideal.

      I still have PSA in the “cheap” category. Their new “Saber” line of rifles looks promising, and I think they’re coming along, they just aren’t in the “trust it with my life” category yet.
