Early July '56 summer Elvis was on the Steve Allen show and was known to have a disdain for NYC at that time. He got acetate recordings and listened to them on a train back to Tennessee (photos online showing him listening to records on a cheap player to 'hear how it might sound to the listeners') The brand new records required a player and he might have went out of NY to NJ less than 6 miles away.
@@Ether_777 he's the one I spoke to when I went in the store… Oh my goodness, that is so sad. Feels like a part of my childhood just died. I spent a lot of time thinking about it that day how the two of them worked together for so many years and now, how difficult it must be for her.
@@Ether_777 I wouldn't have known had you not commented, so thank you. I have to tell you, walking in there was incredibly surreal, like I was walking into my past. I write songs as a hobby and I was deeply affected by the experience so needless to say I ended up writing a song about it I'll post it here if you're interested in listening to something like that.
@@DanFedMusic I'd love to listen! Its amazing how many people they inspired out there. Good people man. It brings me back home, all the music they carried and energy they had. I wish you the best in your song writing and I'm sorry to break the news like this, me and my dad knew them for years, ever since we were both little kids. Everything will be okay though, and they both left alot of people with enough hope for the rest of a lifetime. Joan will be okay. Continue writing and never stop, that inspiration is a gift from the invisible. Bill will hear you writing so sing it to him, and sing your heart out. All the best and I'll keep an eye out for the song !
