When you talk about Kuritan light mechs, you are talking about either the Jenner or the Panther. Sure, they run other things, but those two are at the core of their military doctrine.
The Jenner is a fast raider / ambusher which is meant to support the more static and reliable Panther. It can also assist medium 'mechs in taking down larger foes, destroy tank collumns or just cause all sorts of issues.
The Jenner was so popular the Clans decided to build their own version, and when omnitechnology became available, the 2nd Star League made the Owens based on it.

The Owens is named after “Garryowen” an old Irish quick-step that can be traced back to the early 1860s. From the TRO "Unlike many Kurita 'Mechs, whose names come from their appearance, the Owens takes its name from its primary mission: the traditional cavalry role of screening and reconnaissance. The name comes from a Terran drinking song titled Garry Owens, a tune traditionally associated with cavalry units. It is interesting to note that the Draconis Combine, whose culture derives from the Oriental societies of Earth, found inspiration for the name of its new light OmniMech in a Western ditty."

Historical revisionism by the creators is funny, same with the retcon of the origin of the J.Edgar and the disappearing Rommel.

Well, we can chalk that one up to the in-universe narrator, who should make minor mistakes every now and again to maintain authenticity.

The Jenner and the Panther are a great team. But I feel that the DCMS was meant to be the “Black” hats in early additions, they got mook mechs. And we learned to make them dangerous.

Ive liked the Jenner since I played it in Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries. Its basically a Super Wasp, being faster and with about double the firepower. Strip off the SRM-4 for more armor and youre good. That one has an official variant, the JR7-F.
The Jenner has a couple flaws. Its armor is very light for 35tons, it only has 5 Jump Jets with a 7 walking speed, it overheats, and it has no Medium or Long Range weapons. The lack of long range is reasonable as those are very heavy for a light mech in 3025.
Its actually odd how rare Light Mechs are in terms of firepower. No I dont mean big guns, but it would be easy to equip 3 Medium Lasers, no problem.
Now the counter for the Jenner, The Wolfhound is actually pretty good. Its a lot more armored than the Jenner, and much faster than the Panther.
Now upgrading that idea is pretty simple. A custom job Ive made is to combine it with the Panther using lower-weight Light PPCs to increase its firepower.
If you can get clan-grade weapons then it becomes a fantastic combination of speed and firepower.
    ===================
The Clans made the Jenner IIC which is unusual in that it focused on Short Range Missiles with no energy weapons. This is odd for a couple reasons. One thats wasteful in ammunition, and Two it uses an expensive Extralight Engine in what are supposed to be guard troops.
Im surprised no Jenner IICs go for a "Fire Jenner" variant with clan ER Medium Lasers or Medium Pulse Lasers.
Now there is something close, the Jenner IIC 5 with has 4 Improved Heavy Medium Lasers and a Streak SRM-4. That has a lot of firepower on paper, but overheats very quickly.

Ah yes, the light mech the Combine used as their main battleline mech along with the Panther for a time. Thanks for the video.

7:30 the DCMS had a few, but thwy were almost entirely limited to the Grand Dragon

Every single double heat sink kits went to the Grand Dragon for at least a couple of years, for sure.

The Jenner F is one of those mechs you buy if you can for a scouting force. It’s low on tonnage, shockingly durable. Most importantly, you can’t turn it off from the typical Jenner means.

The Jenner is one of the few mechs I've found to be a pleasure to pilot or deploy as a unit. Sometimes you need to just get in the cockpit and do it yourself, but I've found even a lackluster pilot can make the Jenner work for them.

Great video on this mech. A bit of a goofy look but, that's a cool thing about it. I should field these more.

The Jenner wrecked in MW2:Mercs. Literally run circles around most mechs. I would go for the Jenner or Crab early.

It’s a shame that such an iconic (or notorious) battlemech got left in the dust while Kurita experimented with newer designs with shinier toys. But at least the newest Jenner variant is competitive with other IlClan light mech designs, whereas the newest Panther variants aren’t holding up so well.

Solid mech. LAW did a great job on it. But the design did always puzzle me... what is the grill? How is this design armor efficient? It has way more surface area to cover than lets say, a cicada.

It's part of the engine cooling system, pretty sure. Now is it a great armor setup? Not on the stock and standard Jenners.
