Battletech's Clan Blood Spirit, Mechs of a Dead Clan!
#Battletech #BattletechLore #Mechwarrior
Clan Blood Spirit is one of those dead Clan you don't hear about a lot. Apparently, even amongst the Clans they didn't hear about them a lot. Like that crazy uncle you never invite to parties.
They did build a number of cool 'Mechs though. The Blood Kite is a crazy setup for an assault machine. The Stooping Hawk is a cheap and reliable medium omnimech. The Crimson Langur is... well, probably the worst of the lot. And finally, the Crimson Hawk is what happens when you are out of luck and out of money.

Battletech's Deva, The Middle of the Line Celestial!
Переглядів 76912 годин тому
#Battletech #BattletechLore #Mechwarrior Now the Deva. This is a pretty decent omnimech, all things considered, with only 1 design issue which I wouldn't even call a "flaw". Okay pod space, okay pod placement, okay heat dissipation, okay armor, a tad bit slow for the time, but in line with many good 'mechs like the Archer or Warhammer. But nevermind that, I want you guys to hear my thoughts abo...
Battletech's Grigori, the Unfocused Celestial Omnimech!
Переглядів 66119 годин тому
#Battletech #BattletechLore #Mechwarrior With the Grigori, Vapula was done with his Celestial series omnimech. Too bad, because it really is one I don't appreciate a whole lot. For a small heavy at 60 tons, it's slow, it has decent armor but a Light Engine and XL Gyro still makes it risky and while it has a good amount of pod space, the configurations are just... not there for me. Most of the m...

#Battletech #BattletechLore #Mechwarrior Margraves Stevenson built the Warcher with top of the line technology at the time (3039, how time flies), but it wasn't until about a hundred years later that EarthWerks and StarCorps approached his estate asking him to stop building them. Rather than doing that, they sold the rights to both companies and are making a killing off this nice FrankenMech no...
Battletech's Mauler, the Eternally Reworked Sniper!

#Battletech #BattletechLore #Mechwarrior The Mauler is a favorite of many, including Razorfist (@TheRageaholic ) It really has a cool look and was part of the Battletech cartoon (available on @RenegadeHPG ). Sadly, outside of the look, I always had problems with the Mauler. Not enough firepower, undersinked, slow, poorly armored, it fits in the category of "use it when you have it" kind of 'mec...

#Battletech #BattletechLore #Mechwarrior The more I look at the Seraph, the more I like it. Yes, I do like the "taller" bodykit from the thumbnail. 43 tons of pod space and a lot of internal room allows you to go CRAZY on configurations, and many of the base ones I actually enjoy. Battletech's Grendel, the Shark's Great Scout Hunter!

#Battletech #BattletechLore #Mechwarrior Everyone has a Grendel or two stashed away. It was included in the Clan Invasion starter box set for some odd reason, and it sadly gathers dust for a lot of people. It is however a great scout hunter and raider, combined with a decent skirmisher in most configurations. I do think we are looking at an often overlooked machine! Some of the miniatures in th...
Battletech's Malak, the Small Warrior Angel!

#Battletech #BattletechLore #Mechwarrior The Malak, the warrior angel, is a bit small for my taste at 30 ton. It is fast, it is functional and has a decent amount of space to it, however. It is mainly used as a terror weapon, and that makes it pretty decent in my book. Mechs that are built by a clan that is austere by already austere clan standards show how one can squeeze cost effectiveness out of clantech designs. It’s a real shame that the whole kinship vibes never truly worked out for Blood Spirit in the end, though. It was a cool idea at the very least.

You're one of the first folks I've heard make mention of population problems for Clanners outside of the intel community. But it makes sense doesn't it? Compared to the Inner Sphere and Taurian Concordat the Clans are very newly established (and have had to relocate a few times). Put thier cultural idiosyncrasies on top of that, and the Clans just can't make enough people to conduct an invasion *and* occupation. Its one or the other.

That was why they resorted to vat born children. Now if only they didn't get all pissy about only 'so many of each name' existing at the same time, they could have seen massive population growth.

Been studying WoB for a long time due to a fanfic write I have been doing. St Jamais messed up when he took the message form The Master of 'Let them see the light' and nuked either steiner or davion. Threw the whole try to get those factions back to the star league table out the window. Then the plan changed to, 'we will embody the worst of the worst' to unite the inner sphere. We will be become the things of nightmares. Republic of the Sphere was the result. In the end it fell too. Oh yeah, the blakists are alive and kicking in the shadows with the Ghosts of Obeedah suppliment. If WoB comes back, it will be one hell of an awakening for the IS. And it is ripe for their return since 'The Sign' and the next step of The Promise is upon us.... FOR THE MASTER!!!

To be fair, the Blessed Order was making the Uraeus and Kheper. Not that it helped in the end, but there was a ComStar remnant that had it's own battlemech production. Still, after that run through the history - Blake and Focht must be spinning in the respective graves.

Ah, the Deva. Such a solid, reliable heavy, it's never let me down. I've never actually run the Invictus, now that I think about it, but the Luminos is one of my go-to's and the Dominus is swingy but fun. The Infernus is, for all intents and purposes, an economy Archangel Eminus. On the topic of gyros, armoring is strictly better in a one-off setting, but such components take twice the normal amount of time to repair or replace. Might be the difference between getting a mech back in the fight vs not.

Also, you inspired me to play around with this design for a refit. Replacing the small cockpit/upgrading the VDNI to an Interface Cockpit means it loses the "hat", but it also lets you rip out the awful heavy duty Gyro. Swap the heatsinks to Clan grade so additional ones take up less space, shift some Endo Steel slots into the CT (leaving 4 free and making room in the side torsos). It leaves you with 36 tons of pod space and 34 critical space slots. What's your take on that overhaul? I could use some of these "Divas" for my own company...
