@@CanoeTheNorth I couldn't agree more !! As I go through your catalogue of vids I'm amazed at the quality of the whole production, it's simply awesome and inspiring
To paddle into the cave, set up the camera, paddle back out of the cave, then turn around and paddle back into the cave for the video recording shows true dedication to your purpose of presenting this remarkable woodland to many who won't ever see it in person. Well done!!
Thanks so much John. Really appreciate it. I remember seeing up that camera there and it was a tricky one but we managed. Really appreciate the comment.
This one hit me on a personal level as I was one of the if not the last person to paddle a big part of the park before the big burn. Great to see you went despite the burn! And the rewards are so worth it. That moose was absolutely insane! I like Ashley’s response ‘this must be the biggest moose in the world!’ Epic reward at the and with the Auroras! The park might be mostly burned, but hasn’t lost any of its magic! I’m going back this year myself. Thanks for this video! Very well done👌
Thanks Koen. There is no doubt that it is a special place. Once you've been there it's hard to go anywhere else. Appreciate the comment and best of luck on next years travels in WCPP. Hope you get to see the biggest moose in the world as well : )
@@donthomas8724 I have only just Scratched the surface of Wabakimi’s wilderness, but I feel every park has its own very unique and distinct feel and look. My first impression of Wabakimi is that is greener and less effected by fires over the years. Wabakimi has a lot more rivers and whitewater then Woodland. The older burns in Woodland are also a part of the magic of the area as the scenery changes lots as you put in the kilometers. So I would say both are equally beautiful in their own way.
This is epic filmmaking and I love the way you told this story. The narration you did in your home cutting to the trip footage was amazing to watch. I am not sure if there are contests for films like this but it is worthy of entering it. Thanks for showing this and I am glad I am not the only one who says goodbye to hotel rooms and campsites when I leave. Let me know if you have any single sister like you Ashley. 😊
Really nice comment to receive Cliff. Thank you. Unfortunately though Ashley is an only child...lol. And yes, we almost always say goodbye to campsite, especially the good ones.
Another outstanding film guys! If I were to choose one word to describe it, that word would be therapeutic or perhaps cathartic...yeah, I know, that's two words.
Thank you Keenan and Ashley for sharing this beautiful place. I was very moved with the forest that had burned, by your sighting of the huge bull moose, and caribou, and loons. And the northern lights. Humbling. Watching it I was thinking of the Water Walkers the late Josephine Mandamin, Autumn Peltier and so many others who walked the great lakes and made prayers for the waters. I really felt also to say prayers for those trees. I am going to get there at Woodland Caribou to do that. Hopefully this year. I feel touched by your sensitivity to nature. Thank you again. Susan
Thank you very much guys. You’ll have to paddle that park after you are done on the nipissing river. Common spring! Really appreciate the support by the way.
What a visual treat, devastation and it's aftermath, renewed life and the amazing Northern Lights. I watch several of your friends channels as well and I'm feeling like I need a trip north to see some of the beauty you both document so we'll. ❤️

Thank you very much Doug. We were going for a different style so I’m glad you enjoyed it. We had a lot of fun on the trip and putting the video together. Appreciate the support very much.
I don't know how you do it, but you keep moving the bar forward! This was fantastic, I really enjoyed it! Typically, if my wife is in the room with me when I start a UA-cam video, she leaves to go do something else. She has little interest in most, commenting on so many of them are "full of outdoor cooking filler footage". No so with your videos! She quickly became enthralled, staying with me for the whole video; asking questions, making comments, etc., that's was a first! The quality of this "video" (really, a "film") was such that I could see it being shown on The Nature of Things, or at a Water Walker festival; it's that good. Much respect! 🙌🙌🙌
Just about the nicest compliment we could ever receive from someone who is deeply passionate about the outdoors. Cannot thank you enough for taking the time to send us this message. Means more than you know.
Absolutely beautiful!! Thanks for sharing this with us once again! Edit to say, I love the music and filming so very much. The narrative format you used in this one was fresh and different. And the night and sunset shots are EPIC. What a joy to watch.
This is just WOW on every level you two! I appreciate your observations and it is staggering how Mother Nature repairs herself so quickly after such devastation. The wildlife, Northern Lights, sunsets, jaw dropping and how lucky are you to get there to enjoy it all!! Thanks so much for sharing this amazing trip. 🤎 Barret
Another fantastic Canoe the North film. I have been to Wabakimi three times and Woodland Caribou has always been on my bucket list. Even though much has been burned and lost there is much beauty in the devastation. Looking forward to your next adventure.
Thanks very much Walt. There certainly is a lot of beauty in the devastation. Ive actually got a Wabakimi video coming up sometime this winter so you'll probably be very familiar with the next canoeing video.

Very nice! Been on many trips there in the last 30 years. Hard to see those special places burn. Kind of takes "new eyes" to go back and appreciate it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the beauty, the laughs, and the deep thinking. I always save your work to share with my wife. It brightens our evening. Thanks again, friends
Stunning production, the choice of music just intensely moving. I've had Pacific Northwest favorite beauty spots destroyed by fire/volcano and their pristine forested beauty is only a memory, but the land deserves the respect to visit it again...and again.
The resilience of nature shines through this video. Although the landscape has changed dramatically since the trip with your brother, you and Ashley saw nature at its best. I have done some fly in fishing trips east of the park nd the forest and lakes were not burned up. Sorry to see what has been going on in NW Ontario not to forget the rest of Canada during these trying times. Loved the northern lights and the music, can not wait for the next adventure.
What an incredible journey and experience this was for you both. Emotional, memories, scenery, wildlife. How can a person not be changed by an experience like this?
I really enjoyed listening to the different narratives. Yourself returning to a place you love and Ashley going there for the first time. I've watched a lot of videos on the park and when Ashley described it as another world/planet the one word that comes to mind when I see the burn areas is apocalyptic. Might make it there one day but don' t think I'd do it as a solo trip.
I bet you would absolutely love it there Doug. If it makes you feel any different I would 100% do it as a solo trip but that's just me. Hard to beat WCPP for a canoe trip destination.
This just made my night. Thanks guys for this epic journey. Reminds me how resilient nature is and how rewarding it could be to embrace change and explore outside of our so-called comfort zone.
Thanks for a wonderful trip down my memory lane. Wonderful work. As I work my way through your videos, I've tried to avoid making comments with everyone. But my wife and I went to an island lodge on Douglas Lake in 2006 and canoed down Onnie creek to Onnie lake. That area is like a peninsula that the owner of the lodge had lobbied hard to be included in the park. Amazingly, we saw a Woodland caribou.... people who had been at the lodge for years had never seen one. In a short portage to hatch lake, we see a large black bear swimming across the lake... my wife just caught a glimpse as she was taking photos of leichen. After 18 years, we plan to go back this summer!
Hope you guys have an incredible trip. Wcpp is probably our favourite park in Ontario. It’s such an amazing place to canoe and explore. Enjoy your time there.
What an amazing video!! I had heard of the huge forest fires at Woodland Caribou Provincial Park and wondered what was left. It is clearly still epic as you showed us with this beautiful video!! I saw my first Woodland Caribou near Wabakimi Park last summer and it took my breath away!! It's amazing you got yours on film!! The Aurora footage is absolutely stunning !! Amazing work!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks Darren. They are amazing animals to see in person. I did a solo trip in wabakimi this September and saw one there as well. It swan in front of my canoe and totally blew me away. Glad you had the chance to see this amazing animal and hope your trip to the wabakimi area was amazing. Happy paddling in 2023.
The films just keep getting better and better! Way to evoke emotion friends! This one hits home for Britt and I as this was our first canoe trip. Special place, thanks for sharing your story 🍻🏕️🛶😁
Thanks Teunis. It is a very special place to I think almost everyone who get the chance to paddle it. Thanks very much for the comment glad you enjoyed this one. Couldn’t ask for a better place to start the paddling journey. 🛶
This is absolutely fantastic video. The moose looked huge. The sunset beautiful. The Arora was very beautiful, never seen it before. Thank you, love you and love to all. That would be a fabulous trip. You are definitely blessed to see places that so many will never get to experience.
Thanks again for the very nice comment Terry. We are certainly very lucky to be able to have visited so many incredible places. Glad you enjoyed this video.
Loved this video! My daughter and I did your same route 2x in 2008 and 2012 and even camped at some of the same sites/lakes as you, so it was a real head rush to watch! I'm saddened by the fires, which we've watched intently from afar. But I'm glad to hear how amazing the park still is after being swathed in flames. I'm hopeful to get back there again. Great job with the video all the way around!! I've watched a number of these from other paddlers, most of which tend to be too long and rather boring. Yours is spot-on! 🙂
We are glad to hear that you’ve have the pleasure of paddling though this amazing park. Even with the burns it’s one of if not our favourite place to paddle. Thank you very much for the nice comment and hope you guys get back to WCPP soon! 🛶
Thank you! Ya it’s such a cool park isn’t it. Hope you have an awesome trip there next year. I’m just starting to edit a trip I took there this spring so hopefully it’ll be out soon to maybe give some ideas of additional places to explore there. I’m sure you’ve got another awesome route planned already. Thanks again for the comment. 🛶 🎥
@ look forward to your next video! I have a few routes but nothing firm. I have 3 canoe access points to choose from, largely will depend on how many days I am able to take.
Great video. We had some serious fires down in the BWCA in 2021. Evacuated the whole area for the first time since 1978. We've all heard about fire being part of the forest life cycle, but it's still painful to see all those beautiful trees burned to a crisp. Thanks for this wonderful vid.
Thank you. 2021 was a tough year for a lot of the northern parks. Lots of damage done. Hopefully we don't see anything like this again for a long time.
Beautiful trip! The regrowth would be interesting to see and physically walk through I bet. That natural fire life cycle in a forest is something else. The highlight of caribou and northern lights are on my bucket list too - so lucky! Happy Paddling!
It's mid January, what a wonderful way to spend time with a coffee as we dream of spring and plan adventures to unfold. A very well done video, thanks for taking the time to share. Pleasure and peace be with your travels.
Your best video to date that I’ve watched and Ashley’s best narrative. I planned a Woodland Caribou in the early 90’s and didn’t pull it off. You’ve re-ignited the urge. My best paddles are always the first ones. Repeat trips to the same area are always easier, but for some reason not as rewarding. The exceptions are those in recent burn areas. It’s like another world. As devastating as is appears, it is natural renewal. The regrowth is in someways refreshing. Thank you for the experience. I can’t smell it, but enjoyed seeing it. Thank you . Hope you have a wonderful ‘23.
Thanks very much Jeff. I agree about what you said about your first trip. Always special. Hope you make it to WCPP. I don't want the park to get busier but I really think it's maybe the best place to paddle in Ontario. Just love it.
Thanks very much Bert. It’s probably all down hill from those two videos but hopefully you enjoy some of our others as well 😂 . Really appreciate the comment.
0:16:26 - I had a face-to-face encounter with that exact moose in pretty much the exact same spot last September (2022). Stood there looking straight at me for a good 7 or 8 seconds before heading to the forest. What a beautiful creature!
Very cool film. I remember my first time at Woodland as well seeing the absolute biggest moose on the road in. They make them bigger there for sure. Great captures all around on the scenery and natural beauty.
I saw your channel Recommended by John and Erin’s Lost Lakes, one of my favourite nature channels . Thank you for taking us along to this beautiful place. Cinematography was lovely. I felt the magical, quiet connection that you both brought together. Like all great relationships, you always want to connect no matter what, and it is truly worth it and beautiful, just like another planet. Stunning sunsets, wildlife, and the aurora borealis was out of this world. Subscribed to your beautiful channel.
Thank you so much for your kind words about our channel. We are glad you enjoyed the video. Jon and Erin have been a big supporters of our channel and we are very grateful that you found us through their channel.
I really enjoyed this video as it really portrayed the resiliency of nature thru the eyes of someone who has seen it evolve. Thank you for your video - it was incredibly well done and has inspired me to reconsider a visit to Woodland Caribou despite the effects of Mother Nature.
Thank you very much for the nice comment Janice. Greatly appreciate it. Im not sure if you’ve paddle in WCPP before, but even with the burns it’s probably my favourite place to canoe out of anywhere we’ve paddled. Just so unique and different. Hope you get to explore this amazing park.
I've watched many many of your films, and love them all. This style of narration was different for sure, but just as enjoyable as any other. The storytelling is VERY enjoyable! (One more thing...How many hosts personally reply to comments? Not that many for sure. Thanks for taking the time. You make people feel important even if you don't agree with their comment). Enough already... Wonderful film.

Great film. Ashley and Keenan you did a great job narrating and filming reality. It is what it is, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I will continue to look forward to your latest videos. Have a great 2023. Be safe. Peace✌
Very well done. I was there in early June last year, my 7th trip. It was definitely a different place than my previous trips. But I can't say I enjoyed it any less. Hope to still be able to make a trip in 10 years (I'm 66) to see the regeneration.
We have no doubt you’ll be paddling there in 10 years, as it sounds like you really enjoy your time in WCPP.
Absolutely. Thank you very much for the comment and we’re glad you enjoyed this video. 🛶
That was aweseome!....definitly a bucket list place for me!
Thank you. It’s an incredible place. Hope you make it there sometime! 🛶
Heel erg gewaardeerd.
Those shots of the aurora were phenomenal!
Thank you. They were incredible in person. It never gets old watching the Aurora.
What a beautiful place, great video
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it!
Watched it a second time, such a good capture of the essence of this park. Looking forward to returning next year.
Beautifully told. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Truly an amazing trip. I hope to one day make it to this majestic location.
One of the best canoeing areas in the world in my opinion. Love it there. Hope you make it there.
Beautiful video. Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. We’ll get there to canoe one day!
Thanks so much. We hope you do make it there. It’s maybe our favourite place in Ontario to canoe and explore. 🛶 🦉
You're best video yet. They just keep getting better and better. Thanks.
Wow, thank you David.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Barry.
Beautiful trip! The regrowth would be interesting to see and physically walk through I bet. That natural fire life cycle in a forest is something else. The highlight of caribou and northern lights are on my bucket list too - so lucky! Happy Paddling!
We were very lucky indeed. Those young evergreens when they grow back will be unbelievably thick. Thanks so much Mel.
It's mid January, what a wonderful way to spend time with a coffee as we dream of spring and plan adventures to unfold. A very well done video, thanks for taking the time to share. Pleasure and peace be with your travels.
Thanks Brian. Appreciate it. I also love
Dreaming of spring trip in the heart of
Winter. Cannot wait for ice off.
Beautiful trip and Northern Lights ! Thanks for sharing .
Our pleasure William. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you
.
Hope you have a wonderful ‘23.
Thanks very much Jeff. I agree about what you said about your first trip. Always special. Hope you make it to WCPP. I don't want the park to get busier but I really think it's maybe the best place to paddle in Ontario. Just love it.
Awww so good. Thanks for putting this together. Beautiful scenery and the Aurora Borealis look incredible.
Thank you very much. We got lucky on this trip with the northern light. Amazing.
Such an amazing place, thanks for sharing.. really enjoy watching your guys video!!
Thank you very much Tom. Appreciate the comment.
Always a treat to see another part of the country through your lens Keenan! Especially one so dynamically changing.
It’s a crazy place to explore. Like no other place I’ve ever been. Hope you and the pup have a great adventure filled 2023.
I love your films! Watche Wabikimi last night, and this one tonight, Will be certain to watch them all,, they are so well done !
Amazing! It’s always a really cool experience getting to see those animals. Especially those big bulls!
Very cool film. I remember my first time at Woodland as well seeing the absolute biggest moose on the road in. They make them bigger there for sure. Great captures all around on the scenery and natural beauty.
Thank you. Yes they do make them bigger there. Huge moose. Appreciate the comment very much.
Wonderful...I get lost in your films. Good Job. Thank you so much
That's a great comment to receive. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing!
You’re more than welcome Tim. Thank you.
Well done! Yet another part of Ontario I need to check out.
North western Ontario is maybe the best place in the world to canoe. Love that whole area especially WCPP. Hope you make it up there.
Beautiful video guys. Thank you
Thanks very much Daryl.
Thank you kindly Don. We sincerely appreciate the support. We really try to respond to everyone. If people have taken the time to watch and comment we try as hard as we can to respond. Hopefully we can continue this. Thanks again for the comment and support.
Great film. Ashley and Keenan you did a great job narrating and filming reality. It is what it is, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I will continue to look forward to your latest videos. Have a great 2023. Be safe. Peace✌
Thanks Michael. Thank you very much. Hope you have a great 2023 as well.
Beautiful . Thank you so much. A wonderful trip
Thanks Kenn
Fantastic journey! Thanks for letting me tag along.
Any time! Thanks for watching and commenting. really appreciate it.
Totally agree with what you said about it being a very different place but still enjoying it just as much as before. I had the same experience. Thanks very much for the comment. Maybe we will see you in woodland caribou someday.
Looking forward to another top shelf production from Canoe the North.
Thank you!
Great northern lights shots, they’re hard to catch on film to the same magnitude that they look like in person. Thank you for sharing your trip. 🥾🏔🇨🇦❤️
Thanks you Mary Beth. Totally agree the cam never does them justice but it is what it is. Thanks again.
Great video. Those burns will green up quickly.
Thanks Jim. Yes they definitely will! It will be incredibly thick in a few years for sure. Thanks for watching.
awesome folks, way to go, well done. A beautiful part of the world, thank you for sharing, Bob
Thanks very much Bob. Hope you're having a great winter so far.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful adventure
Our pleasure!
Absolutely stunning! Thank you once again for all your hard work. I can't wait to see the next one.🙂
Thanks Carol. 😊
Great job, making want to explore Caribou also
You’ll have to go. It’s an incredible area.
An interesting video to see and to hear. Congratulations 👏
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching Luc!
Incredible, love watching your videos.
Thank you very much Mark. Much appreciated.
This was beautiful as are all your videos.
Thank you 🙏
Another quality production which always seems to improve on the previous adventures. Northern Lights were amazing. Well done and looking forward to some more adventures. Film companies will soon be knocking on your door ?
Thanks Steve. Hope you guys are doing well and we miss you both.
Just grabbed a warm drink and sitting down to enjoy! Thanks for another awesome video.
