Hah! 99 cent Big Mac through June 5? My dad actually BOUGHT a Big Mac on June 5--the day I was born--as my mom was in the early stages of labor. She kicked him out of the room when he showed up with it because she was STARVING. XD Nice to know that he got both a baby AND a discounted burger that day.
Obviously MTV got fuzzy vision when "seeing the future". Otherwise they'd have known that videodisc wouldn't last, and reality TV would spell their slow demise.
I worked at McD's in the early 1980s and still have my polyester uniform. They changed the design just before I quit and never asked for the other ones back. The ones we wore were dark red. The blue ones looked a lot better.
I think this is from June 1,1983 according to what looks like "The Fall Guy" just ended with Glen A Larson/20th Century Fox Logos on ABC and The ending credits of "Real People" on NBC.
@UIWWildthing I was born in early June 1983 (June 5, to be exact), so I know how you feel. XD It's hard to believe my parents were younger than I am now while these commercials were airing.
@skystarless CED had been in development since 1964 and it took 17 years (!) of development for RCA to finally release it to consumers. By the time it was released, VHS/Beta were comparable in quality and could hold far more video content. Laserdisc featured a more advanced disc system and much better video/audio quality. CED was caught in the middle of the format war and used massively outdated technology. I think if they had released it in the 70's it would've been huge.
We had a CED player when I was a little kid. It probably would've been much more successful if they'd come out with it five years earlier. But by the time they got it on the market, VHS and Betamax had already taken hold. It was an okay option for the time if you just wanted to watch movies, though.
gee when I worked at McDonald's I never for a pep talk from a friendly coach wanting me to smile. I just got cussed out my a manager who thought he was a god if I failed to even pack a happy meal toy right
i like that MTV has kept almost the same logo all these years were the RCA Videodisks like laserdiscs? 3. that uniform would make me want to jump off a bridge i'm sure we all want to have a bottle in our shower that says "for oily hair only"
LOL a can of simoniz, for years I always thought it was a can of Salmon eyes like you would eat a can of tuna fish. Now that I think back on it that's pretty gross. speaking of putting things on a ipod I wonder if there is a way to put "the special presentation" jingle as a ringtone? I've seen it posted a few times on here before.
At 3:15: A $0.99 Big-Mac?!? Man, all you can get these days for that-much is a McDouble... And it isn't even nearly as satisfying as the Big-Mac! And if the Big-Mac wasn't your thing [back then], you could always go to Burger King for a Whopper. (When they still tasted good!)
Never cared for Martha plimpton for screwing up 'the mosquito coast' ,and this commercial didn't help. Odd bit: David carridine was her uncle before his autoerotic asphyxia related death in Thailand .
Thank you for the "Channel Changing"! It add somethin' special to these videos!
0:51-0:57 the channel changes were very satisfying, you can almost hear the dial click

Bless you for taking time to upload all these awesome videos! :D
“FOHO”. lol
That McDonald's hat at the beginning is sick!
So you're telling me this MTV channel had something to do with music back in 1983? ;-)

That stork reminds me of the stork from "Dumbo". He just needs that little hat and he's all set.
If they did that smile or it's free ad today at Mcdonalds they'd be bankrupt.
Come on, I had a crush on Martha when I was 7 because of The Goonies. LOL
That's Lori Loughlin from "Full House" in the Pampers ad

Martha Plimpton didn't look too bad in that CK commercial, but in The Goonies she looked like a young Janet Reno...
2:54 Dodge 600ES - "high tech sports sedan"??? LMAO!!!

was there only one voice over guy in the 80's????
@LenaAndreia Just like Homer Simpson in 1984! But he also got an hour long episode of Mama's Family.
Never cared for Martha plimpton for screwing up 'the mosquito coast' ,and this commercial didn't help. Odd bit: David carridine was her uncle before his autoerotic asphyxia related death in Thailand .
+n1uvu no Keith carradine was her dad George is a cousin of some type
Calvin Kline has always made crappy commercials that have nothing to do with jeans... But this one is just plain ridiculous.
@DanZero77 LOL Now I know why he so relates with Homer. XD
I highly doubt their wedding dresses were machine-washable.
But you have to admit that Martha Plimpton is a really good lookin' guy...
What do you mean he's not a guy?
AH! AH! AH! AH!
@burrexkeefAGAIN I still have a crush on her, plus she's hilarious on "Raising Hope"
That baby is almost 30, yikes
