It's either ditch the runtime or ditch the drone entirely. Is the drone photos better since no one else does it, or runtime which can be found on 1lumen or zeroair most of the time?
@@PiercingTheDarkness they only do turbo and max ramp runtimes. Whats missing from almost all reviews are the max sustainable output. A lot of people are looking for that info. Maybe do only that? Its also good that you indicate the ambient temp.

Very nice review. You should attach your Anduril tutorial to it or does the EC06 use V.2. You may have Matt and Charles stepping up their game. I still like the MF01s and 95 CRI is a good difference to start with. To each his own. The EC06 just has a lot of wasted spill quite close to the user. Super light though and if you like a lot of spill, with a super wide beam with decent throw this is the puppy for you.
Thanks buddy. The EC06 uses Anduril V2. I went through the Simple UI and then showed the Advanced UI diagram with the 10H to access. I also like the MF01S's tint options and higher CRI in 4000K. Not sure what Matt could do when it's illegal for drone night flight in many countries. I was given permission and it's easier to get that on the farm. I suggested it to Matt months ago and it's illegal over there without a licence.
Hello, the EC06 seems a bit brighter with better beam pattern mixture of flood and throw than the MF01S. Which one holds Turbo mode longer between the two? Also if you had pick between one either EC06 or MF01S, which one would you choose and is your favorite and why?? Thanks
It depends on the batery cells used. If you use super cells like 21700 Molicell P42A you'll get output of 26000+ lumens but Turbo runtime will be cut to to like 30 seconds because of fast heat build up, but if you use 18650 high performance cells you'll get 15-16k lumens output of Turbo for 90 seconds or so.
The EC06 is only going to match the range of the MF01S for a few seconds, this will differ depending on the cells used, temp limit (you can set up 70°c). As you can see on my graph, it drops like a rock almost immediately. The MF01S has much better heatsinking which can hold turbo longer. It has a more focused beam, so it'll most likely provide more range on the lower levels. Hard to recommend something since it depends on the application and your own preferences.
Please note that no one making reviews is going to have the exact lumen measurement. I measured 24.6K, Flashaholic measured over 26K, Tom E on budgetlightforum measured 28K. You'd need a professional integrating sphere worth thousands to get that accurate value. My setup is, however, calibrated with lights purchased from Maukka, as do quite a few on budgetlightforum.
A big factor too is the battery used. As with most direct MOSFET drive flashlights max out put is finicky, depends on the phase of the moon and angle of of the tongue.
@@hisokaf6793 Yes, and also everyone has a different setup. Me and Tom E are using calibrated lights for fine tuning, but still not identical gear. I don't feel that lumen measurements are a big deal when these beamshots are shown tbh.
Thank you for your review. After several weeks of research, having read and watched a lot of reviews on budgetlightforum, UA-camrs (you, flashaholic etc), I settled on a single flashlight. I have to go on a motorcycle roadtrip in the African desert for several weeks. I needed a flashlight that illuminates wide, in front of me and further away if possible, and without having to move my hand too much. But also illuminate far to see coming a danger (300 - 500 meters). Of course with a compromise. Less than $100 with a "one hand" format. "Coca format". I had put in my short list: Sofirn q8 pro and Sp36 pro, Thrunite catapult v6, Convoy 4x18a, Acebeam (too expensive) and this Astro. I think the Astrolux EC06 is the best choice, for my terms. Anyway keep up the good work ;) The drone part made all the difference. Thanks to you, there is a code to get it at $73. It's a sign of fate to take it ^^
You're only going to get the range you're wanting on turbo and if you look at my graph it drops like a rock. Great for quick bursts, but not all that useful above 2000 lumens. The Sofirn Q8 pro and SP36 pro are the same. If you want high lumens you'll face very limited turbo runtime from the heat generated. I'd much rather the Convoy 4X18A to get the range or even the Astrolux FT03 XHP50.2
Just remember that 16,000 ANSI is always a measurement taken at 30 seconds. The 24,600 measurement was taken at turn on or 0 seconds. If you look at my graph you can see that at 30 seconds it's roughly around 10,000. I did use Molicel P42A cells for higher output.
Absolutely beautiful the Q8 Plus is my flashlight I just love that flashlight I checked Amazon and they don't sell it when is Amazon going to sell this flashlight? Thank you for sharing a great video
You'll need an adapter to use 40T's, or perhaps Sofirn is now including one. Considering how brief Turbo is, it would make more sense to get the P42A for that little extra runtime. Make sure you take a look at the Wurkkos TS32 since it's quite decent. I haven't reviewed it yet, but I prefer it over this model now.
Thanks for that. Happy they at least kept the watermark. I actually gave them permission to use any photo from reviews and also make them demos to help sales on Amazon. I'm also a dealer for them :)
Wow thanks for the great video. Can you please make a video shining flashlights to a deep water body such as lakes or river to find out how deep we can see from surface ? This is relevant for us fishermen.
That is one fantastic review! Wow, every detail that anyone could want was covered. I have a newbie question: how did you get the 24,600 lumens at startup? I thought the maximum output was 16,000. Also which batteries would you recommend?
The 24,600 is at startup, it's not at 30 seconds for the ANSI rating of 16,000 lumens. You can see in the turbo test graph at the end what happens within the first 60 seconds. I used 3x Molicel P42A cells, these are for the best possible lumens at the start, if you want a longer burst closer to that 16,000 you would use lower amp cells. This model is using a FET driver which means that the cells are the limiting factor in performance, the better the cells, the higher the lumens will be
@@PiercingTheDarkness Wow thanks for the quick reply. I'll have to do some digging into batteries; I've only been buying whatever was recommend or already installed.
Just remember that the 16,000 lumen rating is at 30 sec (ANSI) and if you look at my graph it's down to roughly 10,000 lumens. The Q8 Plus should be the same since it's the same flashlight, Sofirn made it for Banggood and they branded it as Astrolux. I used the Molicel P42A
I highly doubt it. Both models step down to roughly 1500 lumens anyway, so unless you want a slightly brighter burst I wouldn't think it would be worth it

I love the flood with the range on this, but what's the point if it drops pretty much right away? Most of us want that power in flashlights for as long as we can. This wouldn't be helpful for search and rescue or police/ security if the power drops. Might as well go with something that is more consistent with power at longer times. I wish someone would design something like this with a fan to keep it cooler for way longer. It's like having a car that has power but only limits you for a block, you still are gonna lose.
i think that comes with the price though. These are enthusiast models designed for high bursts and that's about it. Not very many models can sustain 20K+ lumens either, go and have a look at the Lumintop GT4. This costs $400 usd and is massive and it still gets extremely hot. I personally agree with you, i love high sustainable output far better than a few second bursts, but unfortunately lumens sell, even the fake ones. It has the tripod hole for a handle, so you could set the limit to 70°c and you'd get much higher than my result at only 50°c.
@@PiercingTheDarkness i definitely need to learn about setting the temp. I work security at a hotel and within the last 2 weeks, I bought the sofrin Q8 and the sofrin SP70. The Sofrin SP70 has good spread but it's a thrower and a great hot spot. I would definitely get this flashlight in this video but the fast drop off is a no. It's tough getting the both of best worlds. I do see pricey flashlights out there but I see $130 lights that are just as good. Well, if you like quick bursts it's decent on range, but the MF01S handles turbo for longer resulting in more usable range. If the video you watched was from Flashaholic, his footage was with 18650 cell at only 16K lumens. He readjusted his measurements after buying the Molicel P42A cells and reuploaded the vid
I used my own Molicel P42A cells which are slightly risen to allow contact. I think Sofirn include an adapter so any flat top will work, but you'll need to contact Sofirn to confirm
Anything this size that's pushing that many lumens does. I find it best to go for a more focused beam with less lumens, this way you're getting more usable light with some range to it.
The Q8 plus is a new flashlight that came out and you're comparing it with other lights nobody cares about the other lights we seen them we know about them we have them your job is to display the Q8 Plus and show everyone how good it is you just ruin this video
This is an old video buddy, back when the Q8 Plus was under the Astrolux EC06 logo for Banggood, now that the Banggood contract ended, Sofirn released it with their logo as the Q8 Plus since Sofirn's factory makes a few of the Astrolux models along with Mateminco. I added (Sofirn Q8 Plus) to the title when Sofirn started selling it. No need to be a dick about it.
I have a homemade lumen tube which would be within 10% of the actual output. It's calibrated with proper calibration lights. Heaps of flashlights that are driven with a FET driver can be pushed much harder depending on which batteries are used. Nice username btw.

Now, the ones that through 200k-1mil and at $600 is just way out of the average person's budget. Appreciate your reply :)
@@brooklyn_autumn To be fair though, the Q8 Pro has been tested to be 14310 lumens at turn on, the EC06 is 24,600, so you would expect the Q8 to last longer on Turbo :) . On Level 7 I measured 11,400 and that achieved 1.5 minutes. The Q8 steps down about the same time.
I used the Molicel P42A cells for the most lumens, but you can always get lower amp cells for lower output for longer Turbo, or use a lower mode
@@brooklyn_autumn As i often heard/read in 'flashlight for duty thread; 'two is one, and one ia none.. get a second light brother, have a lumen blaster and a thrower flooder (sofirn SP70 is) or something more handy, with xhp50.2 in it.
Have a safe n smooth duty shift
can any of these flashlights be used while charging say with a portable power bank?, maybe would make the flashlight last longer, anyone has tought of this?
Yes, the EC06 can be charged while using all brightness levels. It would extend the runtime depending on the capacity of the power bank used .
@@PiercingTheDarkness the only issue is that the ec06 gets too hot, too quickly, i was adviced towards the Astrolux® MF01S that has better heat dissipation, to witstand longer periods of usage
@@videosviralesdemexico218 The MF01S is no different. If you want longer runtime at a higher output then you need a larger flashlight body to dissipate the build up of heat. Here's the runtime graphs of the MF01S and you can see that it steps down to 1000 lumens if you set the thermal limit to 65°C. davestechreviews.com/2021/10/25/astrolux-mf01s-flashlight-review/
Perhaps get the Convoy 3X21A
The shots from the drone is a great idea
Which one is true about this astrolux, is it 16000 lumens or 20000 lumens?
Lumen output will depend on the batteries used, higher drain will achieve higher output.
I only have a homemade lumen tube, same as many other reviewers, so best we can provide is an estimate. My lumen reading is within 10% of the true lumen output
@@PiercingTheDarkness oouh really....wow,its hard to find a flashlight like that
Very nice review🔦
hwo do you turn off the green light on the button please ???
You need to unlock advanced UI with 10H (10 clicks + hold on the last), then it's 7 clicks from off
Wow! I don’t want the mf01s anymore, I want the ec06 now!! Another video I watched it didn’t have the same throw but this video shows it’s the same or better! Those drone shots!! Amazing.
How much does the discount take off?
@@brokenlegz Currently it's already on a promo until the 4th Dec, so using the coupon discounts from a higher price, hate BG doing this. Not sure what the price was before the promo, but it reduces to $71.99
Well, if you like quick bursts it's decent on range, but the MF01S handles turbo for longer resulting in more usable range. If the video you watched was from Flashaholic, his footage was with 18650 cell at only 16K lumens. He readjusted his measurements after buying the Molicel P42A cells and reuploaded the vid
@@PiercingTheDarkness ah well that explains it!! Thanks!
woah nice drone shots
Is the battery on q8 plus a button top?
I used my own Molicel P42A cells which are slightly risen to allow contact. I think Sofirn include an adapter so any flat top will work, but you'll need to contact Sofirn to confirm
Nice
Insane!☀️
Wow
Very well done.
Can it take flat top cell 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
No, unless the positive is slightly risen. I used the Molicel P42A
Gets hot af real fast though.
Anything this size that's pushing that many lumens does. I find it best to go for a more focused beam with less lumens, this way you're getting more usable light with some range to it.
5000k or the 6000k version?
The Astrolux EC06 was only ever released with 6500K
Are the leds perfectly centered?
They were on my unit
Подскажите пожалуйста формулу для перевода cd в метры
Multiply the candela by 4, then square root it to get the throw in meters.
@@PiercingTheDarkness большое спасибо, вы очень помогли
can i take that EC06 off your hands?
Sure...if you can pay the postage I'm happy to gift something that took 40hrs to review, no problem
Great review
Thank you. The EC06 will be going against the Acebeam X75 in my review which will be uploaded tonight. Drone beamshot comparisons look amazing.
6
5 4 3 2 1?
can you compare the beamshot with q8 pro side by side.. curious which one reach farther.
Maybe you can send me the Q8 pro to compare :)
Are you sure the EC06 is putting out 21,000 lumens? The store description claims only 16,000 lumens.
I have a homemade lumen tube which would be within 10% of the actual output. It's calibrated with proper calibration lights. Heaps of flashlights that are driven with a FET driver can be pushed much harder depending on which batteries are used.
Nice username btw.
@@PiercingTheDarkness Very interesting. I wasn't aware of that. I'm glad I asked, because that's valuable information!
Oh, well thank you. He is my joy and strength when I'm walking closely with Him. Lately I've been under heavy spiritual attack and my faith is shipwrecked. Are you a believer?
