I have indulged 'The Fury' within 1 1/2 days. The first third was a wee bit frustrating, as the style was very jumpy and the narrator is so convinced of himself. But then, when the real drama unfolds itself bit by bit, I was hooked. And the conclusion was truly mindblowing to me!
August 1. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius, Edited by Scot Hicks & David V. Hicks 2. Clash of Kings by George RR Martin 3. Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness 4. Lady Audley’s Secret by Mary Elizabeth Braddon 5. The Visitors by Sally Beauman
I think you will be happy to know that Anne's is the first in a serie... You see her as a grown up!!! All the books are as good as the one that you had read!!!
Glorious Exploits is amazing. Can't stop thinking about it and how on earth the author came up with this way different story. The characters live in my heart.
I've only read 100 years of solitude and No one writes to the colonel by G.G.Márquez, but I loved both and definitely recommend you read them! What you said about his family publishing Until August is very interesting. I haven't read it yet because of that, and especially since I have yet to read a lot of his books. So glad you discovered Anne of Green Gables, I haven't read it myself but I grew up watching the series and got my niece into reading it this year (she's already reading the 4th!). And now I might read it myself...:) For now, I'm reading the last book in the Winternight trilogy by K. Arden, and absolutely loving it.
The God of the Woods is one I really want to read soon. I’m hearing so many good things about it. Anne of Green Gables is a treat, and your edition of the book is gorgeous🥰 I haven’t read GGM because for some reason he intimidates me. The fact he didn’t want the book published and his wishes were not honored would bother me enough I wouldn’t read this, or at least start with it. August sounds like an interesting reading month for you.💕
If you enjoyed Anne of Green Gables I recommend diving into the rest of the series; there are eight in total that follow Anne as she grows up and eventually her children. A wonderful series which I loved as a child 💚
Really wanted to thank you for bringing Fresh Water For Flowers to my attention - this was a while back and I've only just got to it, you know what its like! But i loved it and would never have found it if not for you. One of those magical moments where you read the right book at exactly the right time ❤
I always love it when you say 'Hey, it's Alice' at the beginning - that's also my name, and I've never met anyone else with the same name, so it's lovely to hear🥰
You always do such a good job reviewing Alice and I appreciate it. I've been wanting to read God Of The Woods, for sure I will. Not sure when, but I will. Right now I'm reading g some cozy Autumn mysteries. Just sooooo eager for Autumn!! Bought matching tee shirts for my granddaughter and I today. Rust colored and says: My favorite Color Is Fall"(she loves to read also). I wrote down The Art Thief on my TBR. SO HAPPY you enjoyed ANNE! I still love and re-read it. Yrs. ago we went to P.E.I. as a family, for my daughters, specifically because of Anne. Beautiful, beautiful place. I keep a quote journal(s) and the "Oct. quote from Anne is in there. Thanks Alice!! 🤗🤗
I just got done reading winters moon 🌙 by dean koontz. My first book I have read by him and I thought it was pretty good. Now I’m reading how to sell a haunted house by Grady Hendrix. Loving this book because it’s not your type haunted house story and I love his writing. Funny and scary at the same time.
It was a good reading month for you! I am currently on the 2nd book in The Naturals series. Im trying to get through those because I want to start my Autumn TBR, and I have so many books on that list! 😂
I thought exactly the same as you did about The Fury. I liked it but I’m not thinking about it anymore. I just enjoyed it like I would enjoy fast food! It’s good while you eat it but after you don’t really care about it! But the God of Woods… OMG! I LOVED IT! The settings, the characters, the writing… everything!!!!! I gave it a 4.5 stars ( I always compare everything to The secret history and Animal Farm which were 5 stars for me haha!)
Desperately waiting for you to read “Madam”, my friend!! 😂 but sooooo glad you made it to AOGG, it’s such an adoring book and I fell in love with Anne immensely. Going to start “the warm hands of ghosts” tonight ❤
I’m planning on starting The God of the Woods soon and I can’t wait!! I’ve heard lots of reviews saying that The Fury was pretty meh, I picked it up from Goodwill recently so we’ll see what I think, haha. And I love Anne of Green Gables ❤️❤️❤️ My favorites from August were Remarkably Bright Creatures (re-read), Oathbringer, and The Song of Achilles!
The Fury, the first book you read has reminded me that I should read "And the there were none" bu Agatha Christie. I feel like the end of August and early September is a great time of the year to read about a murder mystery set on an isolated island. 😄 Happy reading.
I hated the fact that they published García Márquez' book against his will. When you read it in Spanish, you can tell it's a different García Márquez, one that was already sick... 😓
Heyy Do you plan to read The Secret History this autumn, too? I was curious already and definitely influenced by you and bought the book back in may but decided to wait till this season and I plan to read soon. I thought maybe we subs who are interested and you would read it together like a book club. Maybe on Fable, it seems like an ok app for that.

Sounds like you should do a spoilery review of The Gentleman from Peru. It doesn’t sound like anything I’d read, but I’d love to hear more about it.

It’s sooooo good! 🥰
I'm currently reading The adventures of Amina al-Sirafi on your recommendation and I'm loving it! :)
Reading The God of the Woods now. Really enjoying it so far.
My TBR always gets longer after watching your videos ❤❤
I love the candles

I'm now regretting not bringing AOGG as my vacation read when I was in Prince Edward Island earlier this month 😫
Wow, cool you got to visit though!! 🥰 I’m sure having been there will bring the reading experience to another level!!

Loved The Art Thief book, recommended to my co-workers. Really showed how insidious addiction really can be.
Indeed! 😄
Your copy of Anne of Green Gables is so nice!
It is! 🥰

Giiiirl, same 😂 My autumn TBR is stacked 😂
Just received God in the woods, so next months TBR
Hope you like it! Happy reading 🥰🖤

That’s such a good way to sum up that book! 🍔😂 and yes, God of the Woods was just sooooo good! 🥰
Im on a Kurt Wallander binge (Henning Mankell) at the moment 😂
Love that! 🖤
Loved God of the Woods, but have also just finished All the Colours of the Dark, which is similar and much better. I think you’d love it.
Oooh sounds great 😍
Desperately waiting for you to read “Madam”, my friend!! 😂 but sooooo glad you made it to AOGG, it’s such an adoring book and I fell in love with Anne immensely. Going to start “the warm hands of ghosts” tonight ❤
I knoooow, I gotta get to it soon! 🥰 and also Warm Hands of Ghosts!

So sad 😢
Hi I'm new here! I love the color hues in your video
Welcome! And thank you so much! 🥰🖤
Can you please tell me where you got Anne of Green Gables? It’s my favourite book and I’ve never seen such beautiful cover before! ❤
I found it in a bookshop but it’s the Painted Edition by Harper Muse if that helps! 🖤
Heyy
Do you plan to read The Secret History this autumn, too? I was curious already and definitely influenced by you and bought the book back in may but decided to wait till this season and I plan to read soon. I thought maybe we subs who are interested and you would read it together like a book club. Maybe on Fable, it seems like an ok app for that.
That’s such a good idea! 🖤 I don’t think I’ll reread it this year, but maybe next autumn? 🍂🕯️
Next autumn sounds good, too
how many pages do you read in a day?
It varies!
I could not put down The God of the Woods 👏👏👏
It was soooo good! 🥰
