I used to love light, cozy mysteries. I haven't read any in a while, but you have me wanting to try these recommendations. ❤📚❤️
I'm reading The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton right now, and I just took a break ( to watch one of my favorite booktubers 😉) because of tears. I'm hoping the book continues to suck me in!

Agree with Animal Farm. Read it when I was in 7th grade at a Catholic School and it was a class fave!

I just got a cute cozy you may like it’s called Getting Old is Murder by Rita Lakin. Also I just got Barnes and Noble edition of Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis it’s beautiful! Have you heard of it? I’m also reading The Reformatory by Tananarive Due, Housebroke by Jaci Burton, How to Solve your own Murder by Kristin Perrin

    I really enjoyed Dallergut.
A lot of the reviews I read complained that the characters didn't progress or the story was too shallow--but not every story needs an arc. It's basically a fable. It wasn't a meal--it was a confection.

You had a great reading month. I managed to read 8 books in May
The House Keeper by Valerie Keogh
    Lexicon by Max Barry
    The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden
The Housemaid's Secret by Frieda McFadden
The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake
The Sisters by Claire Douglas (my only 5 star for the month, this book was insane but in the best way possible)
Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie
The Dinner Guest by B.P. Walter

@@TheBookCastle as with all books it isn't for everyone but I have a feeling you might like it. I also wanted to tell you I have ordered a copy of The Secret History by Donna Tartt. After hearing you talk about it has made me curious to read it.

Ah, yes I feel you. I think based on your review and some others I’ll skip the book about dreams but still read Solvej Balles book. (I saw it on german booktube xd) I then read the pretty long preview and bought the book. My mom read it first but she wasn’t really into it so I was contemplating, because you kinda expect it to become fast-paced in a way.
I’m currently still reading „Hakai“ (the original title) by Shimazaki Touson and I really like it (even though it’s quite heavy, the depressing but non-emo version of no longer human if you want xdxd)

Hi Alice! There’s a sort of sequel to The Appeal called The Christmas Appeal that might be fun for you to read around the holidays. It was fun!

I would recommend Lisa Scottoline's new book The Truth About the Devlins. She came to my local library at a hotel and we had to register to hear her speak about her books. I had never heard of her nor read anything she'd written. I was intrigued. All the attendees got a copy of her new book! I bought more of her books in paperback used to read more this summer. She does write some historical fiction, Eternal and Loyalty, which are about Italy during WWII and Sicily's mafia. What Happened to the Bennetts is about a family who goes under the Witness Protection Program. Right now I am reading Maisie Dobbs by Jacqeline Winspear who is a character that I would like to meet in real life. She advertises herself as a psychologist and investigator in 1929 England. She works on investigating people for her clients and is such an interesting person, very different from the usual mysteries. This is a book series that I have more books by her to read. I never thought about reading any book series ever again but I am glad to be reading this one.

The Maisie Dobbs series is very good! My daughter (28) and I (60) both enjoy them. Not too cozy, not too bloody…Winspear really found the sweet spot!

@@TheBookCastle - It really is Alice. I taught myself to do Counted Cross Stitch back in the 70’s. My family went to K-Mart in the big city one day and I bought a small Counted Cross Stitch Owl Kit. After we got home I sat on my bedroom Floor - taught myself to stitch the Owl and I had it done within an hour. To this day I still have the Pattern of that Owl after all of these years. Been doing Counted Cross Stitch ever since. I love doing Counted Cross Stitch. ❤️🤗

Have you read the found things series by by Paula Brackston. I enjoyed the idea, the thing that annoyed was the character's repetitive behaviours and anxiety. I also felt the writing got better as the series progressed.

Hi Alice, good to hear your reviews today, got my mind off things for a bit. You do very well at reviews. I haven't been reading much of anything. Can't concentrate because my sister died a week ago. It was one months from the time she found a lump in her armpit, til she died. A very aggressive cancer. The chemo and radiation was brutal on her and it was probably the chemo that killed her. She was a very healthy, active did lots of sports w/ husband. Never even took aspirin .

You have to read The Twyford Code, Janice Hallett's second book. I think it's the best of the three. I've already preordered The Examiner, her fourth book, which comes out in September.

I came here to say this too. I just finished reading The Twyford Code and I loved it. I liked it more than The Appeal too. Could not put it down, it was very immersive. I'm keen to read the Alperton Angels next.

I read The Falcon Thief this month also. I found it r really interesting, but I agree wholly with your assessment. It was worth the read, but it didn't hold up to The Feather Thief.
