I previously had a lotician who I religiously used every three months no matter the condition of my locs. She did snatch my edges all the time when she retwisted my locs. I was recently looking at pictures previously to being in Yannie’s care and noticed when my crown started to recede. All I could say is Wow! Things I noticed I should have spoke up about back then would have ‘saved’ my crown. At this time I am attempting to care for my crown and follow Yannie’s advice. I know the regrowth won’t happen overnight as the balding occurred over the course of years. I am blessed to have found Yannie and Jimmy.❤

I started my loc journey last year towards the end of September and damaged it quite a bit by following the wrong individuals. Mistake number one, was when I interlocked it by myself without the proper guidance and assistance. The second time was when I went to a loctition in December and allowed her to roughly separate my parts with a comb and scissors. Might I add, she then retwisted my hair so tightly and put it into a style, which kept my hair from getting a chance to breathe and continue locking naturally. The final mistake was when I interlocked my hair back in mid-February. However, I have been correcting those mistakes by trying to eat healthy, washing my hair once every two months, making sure I moisturize my hair with rose water and castor oil on a weekly basis and keeping it covered. The damage will take some time to repair but thanks to Yannie's wisdom and my willingness to listen and be consistent, my hair will begin to grow better and stronger than before.

I have a receding hairline and used “fertilizer” when I tried growing my hair years ago. I didn’t read labels and I got burned by lye because of it. When I found out I was able to repair the spot, I learned my genetics were ok to grow so I got my vitamins/minerals right, drink a LOT of water, and LIGHTLY use 1 good oil on my scalp. Now I have about 4.5 years of growth and still going! ☮️

Shalom! I am in The Bahamas. I do not have locks, but i do have natural hair and am also a natural hair stylist. I watched your videos years ago and learned a lot. My daughter did the course in natural hair, so I am back to styling natural hair again. So, I started watching you again because you promote healthy hair and do not use chemicals. I just want you to know that although you don't do tutorials, i enjoy watching your videos because i appreciate how you care for the hair, and that's what i am about as well. Thank you for educating. I am learning from you.
Also, I started following you on FB.❤. So, if you decide to give lessons, i will definitely be your student 😊

I watched your videos for so long. I had to cut my locs last year, becasue of medical issues. I didn't keep them, and let them go. Felt devastated for a while after cutting them off. I'm glad I found your channel tho. You taught me so much, in a way that no one else did on UA-cam. Just wanted to say thank you. ✌🏽

I noticed my hair loss last week. Mine is located the back of my head. I have two textures of hair. That back is softer than the rest of my head. I dont retwist often. I rarely style my hair, so i was shocked to see it.
The cause could be dryness, i dont oil my hair often or do hot oil treatment or steam my hair, and i do have coloured dreads. The back of my itches like crazy too.
So I'll be leaving it alone and focusing on moisturizing them and praying that will help.

Yes I have damage. I was going to get my hair done every 2 months. I had gel put in my hair and I was put under the dryer. When I started my loc journey it was only the 2nd time IN MY LIFE that I had ever been to a beautician
I have always been natural. When I started to notice that she was combining them I started to notice that they were starting to look like braids. I didn't know what to do. Then I found your videos online and I felt that you were talking directly to me. Thay was 2 years ago and I haven't been to anyone since
I would really like to see you so that I can make sure I am heading in the right direction
I have been locked for 9 years.
Thank you for your videos and all the information you have provided.

I think what caused my hair loss was the fact that I had Sisterlocks and I started doing it myself. I didn't do it that often, but I did combine them so maybe I stretched them too far. I also went through a few months of high stress just before I noticed that it was thinning. I also went through menopause shortly thereafter. So I'm not sure which caused it, or all three. What I've started doing is taking prenatal vitamins, since August 2023. I cut off my locs on New Year's Eve so that I could see what was going on better, and I'm wearing a natural right now. I wash it once a week and massage the scalp with a hair growth serum I received from a trichologist. I also massage my scalp briefly when I wake up in the morning, to fluff out my hair. It seems like it's getting better, but it's a little hard to tell since I haven't seen my natural hair (outside of locs) for almost 20 years. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks Yannie!

I can tell my hair has changed due to hormonal and health changes, and meds. However, I'm trying not to be obsessed with my locs this time around, still not that easy but getting better at it. Also, eating more vegetables and fruit, always drank lots of water but incorporate exercise as usual but more regular, and working to be more positive in my thinking and conversation.

Do you think mango butter mixed with aloe vera gel will lead to build up? (I had also mixed with rose water, water, and rose oil.)
My fiance has locs growing the past 10 years. I've only ever used water, castile soap, oils, and flaxseed gel in it. I would like to try a butter for softness, but don't want to mess him up...

I’m pretty sure it started with stress and I used to do my own hair. Then I got overwhelmed so found someone who “specialized” in locs and I feel like she destroyed them in just one retwist. I usually retwist every 6-8 weeks. So currently I am going back to the basics and hoping for the best

I developed vitiligo in adulthood, early 2000’s. In the last 6 months, vitiligo migrated to my scalp and my 4.5 year locs appear thinner at the roots. I’m 50% gray in the front, back is salt & pepper. My method is professional interlocking every 4 months. My remedy is switching over to professional palm rolling. My first palm rolling maintenance is the end of March.
My texture is soft, kinky. I liked interlocking for that reason. It stayed loc’d without heavy product buildup.
I also enjoyed the new growth because it concealed my spotted scalp of vitiligo until I was comfortable with embracing it like the rest of my uniquely beautiful spots.
I’m hoping the less manipulation of palm rolling will help it thicken up again. And it could be genetics , I’m 61. Your thoughts? Thanks

Peace and blessings all 😊 my suffered due to me having had severe anemia, fibroids and blood pressure medication along with an not so healthy diet. A month before my 49th birthday I had a total hysterectomy, keeping only my ovaries, I had 10 iron infusions before and after my hysterectomy total. I'm still on blood pressure medication and I'm down 10 pounds and I'm working on getting off of medication and still losing weight. I also have a allergy to castor oil and that caused horrible itchiness to the point of baldness at the top of my head. I'm still a work in progress and I have a ways to go 😊

Hi queen. I been watching your videos for 3 year. But i blame myself on not paying attention. Yes, i damage my locks. The in back of my head are thin are broke off because they proble was bearing handing on to what was a piece of my hair. Also I hair feek thin in some area because i have a bad habit breaking then again ( when i feel 2 lock are stuck together) apart knowing my hair is dry. What do i do? Well, I stop retwisted because my hair get thicker i feel like the damage has already been done 😢

My vitamin D is very low. My doctor changed and I was on prescriptions for vitamin D. I just had a retwist the other day and was shocked at how thin my hair has become in the crown. So I'm on my way to the health food store to get B12 which I used to take. If this does not work in the next 3 to 4 months, I'll cut my locs out, and restart.

Mine was due to stress. My last time getting it done in a shop was last year. I wash , moisturize and leave it to grow out. I do have to get better on keeping it moisturized. I drink lots of water as well as take Vit D since it's not enough sun up here during the winter in NJ. I also wanted to know which Rosewater and Vit E combo do you use to moisturize locs.

My locs started to thin after the 8th year from the root. I thought maybe my hair was to heavy but started to notice it was only thining in the middle. Also that year I was going through an unusual amount of stress which didnt help. Im not currently using any products besides hair grease and shampoo, Conditioner. The damage is still visible in the same spot do you have any suggestions for repair?

My hairloss is due to deficiencies. I had loss at both crowns and thinning at the front top down to the middle of my scalp. it was mainly due to iron deficiency, as my ferritin levels were low (11ng) since 2017, after I started having heavy periods, due to a large fibroid. I am transitioning from perimenopause, my periods are starting to stop. So I have been able to get my ferritin levels up from 28-103ng in 5 mths. Which has greatly improved all the other symptoms (chronic fatigue, brain fog, body weakness, palpitations, shortness of breath, etc. The body priorities the iron/ferritin for the vital organs first. I have seen a little improvement in my finger nails and experienced a great reduction in the thinning of my hairline, the top of my scalp and have peach fuzz in bald areas). The science states that if I am able to maintain my current ferritin for 6 mth, and even better increase my levels to optimal, I will see improvement in the condition of my scalp and hair growth. (I have microlocs, since March 2016, and have been self maintaining them for 7.5years. I have been careful not to over manipulate).

My hair used to be thick, and I used to get my hair done about every 6wks. I think my thinning hair is/was from STRESS, medication, and it being re-twisted too tight.

My locks are growing long but it's just that very top in the edge. I never did lace fronts, I only had micro braids once and that was in the late 90s. 🙏🏾

My hair is damage and thinning at the base, I thought it was down to me always putting my hair up in a ponytail everyday. My hairdresser thinks I might either be stressed or I have an iron deficiency. I know my diet is bad and I don’t drink enough water. My hairdresser suggested that I change my diet and eat more greens.
