I'm BRAND new to owning my first shotgun (a pump action). It's never been loaded yet. As I am reading through the owner's manual, I read that shells should be taken out of the bottom of the receiver. THANK YOU for showing this so clearly and slowly. Your regard for safety is AWESOME and APPRECIATED! :)
I've always uncomfortably jammed my thumb into the magazine and pressed the shell stop back. I've never considered holding up the carrier and just pumping back. I feel like a fool.
Just to let any of the other viewers know, all 3 techniques he showed work for the Stevens 320 shotgun as well. This video is particularly useful because the 320 comes with an extended forend by default.
Excellent video presentation. I watched over a dozen clips on how to unload cartridges from a shotgun and so far this is the best one. Very clear easy to follow instruction. Very slow and clear ! Thank you sir.
Thank You. I own several firearms but only one shotgun. an 'Experience' friend with several shotguns said to, "just pump it till they all eject." That did not sound like a great way to do it. I failed to notice the catch to the left in the receiver. I like this MUCH better than chambering a round to eject it.
Thanks for uploading this video. I know NOTHING about guns, as I’m a new gun owner, & I feel very safe of handling my shotgun when I watch your videos. Again, thanks.
...you can also invert the shotgun so that the ejection port is facing straight down...then push and hold the slide release down and repeatedly pump the action...the shells will fall out of the ejection port due to gravity before the carrier comes up on the forward stroke of the pump handle...do make sure the round falls clear before pumping again as some shotguns have smaller ejection ports than others...ithaca 37 and it's clones have to be unloaded by the first method shown in this video as they use bottom ejection......Edit...the gravity method works best on my Mossberg...the ejection port on my 870 is smaller...but it still works...it doesn't work reliably on my Winchester 1300 with the rotating bolt...the carrier catches the rear of the shell and won't let it fall out...which is good if you have to repeatedly fire your shotgun upside down I guess...
Might wanna start out with: 1. Ensure the mechanical safety in ON. 2. Orient the shotgun in a safe direction (Point it at something that could successful stop the round you have loaded, if it discharged).
I have a old 870 wing master and never thought I would buy a clone but I bought the same 12.5" grizzly almost 2 weeks ago and what a fun little shotgun! Everyone wants to try it and it works great out the box! Money well spent in my opinion
A loaded firearm should always be pointed safely as if it could go off regardless of what you are doing. I’ve always unloaded my 870 by cycling the action to the rear, letting a shell fall into the receiver and tipping the gun to the side to allow the shell fall out opposed to pumping it into the chamber. Regardless I like your first method and enjoyed the video
Thanks for the info. A friend of mine has me holding on to her 12 gauge for a while because her roommate has had violent tendencies lately. It was fully loaded and I don’t have a place to properly store firearms. I also have a hyper dog who will knock everything in his path over with his tail. So I wanted to make sure that it was fully unloaded before I put it away. I’ll be honest I have never handled a shotgun in my life. My mom didn’t trust me enough when I was a kid at least with a shotgun. She let me shoot her 243 and I had my own .22 when I was 14 and as an adult I can never afford a shotgun so this is all new to me.
On the Mossberg 500 series you can lock the bolt 1/4 the way back, from there each shell will eject when you press the cartridge stop. I can unload my Mossberg 8+1 in about 4 seconds
The 1st unloading method is the right one ,the unload-er spring is basically on all shotguns i have the same on my franchi and Beretta hunting shotgun , not sure if mossberg have the same on all models though.
I enjoyed watching you unload the shotgun Magri with you very much I wanted to know how to do it now I know safely I’ll come unload your friend Walter thank you
wow,,,thank you for the awesome video. that extended forestock is the only reason why i'm contemplating the mossberg 535 and not the remington 870. what do you think?
Idk if you can do it with your forend, but when you pull the action halfway back you could also push up on the next round till you hear a click the elevator will lock in the up position and then you can press the rail to release each shell.
Great video. if we are practicing this, we have to first ensure the safety button is enabled so that the trigger cannot be clicked. I have the exact same shotgun and it comes with a 26" barrel. I have just ordered a 18.5 " barrel.
I have this model as well and just cut my barrel down to 18.5 inches because I'm tight on cash, and have basically no use for that long of a barrel. I also cut the forend so it is flush with the front of the receiver when pulled back. That way it doesn't cover the loading port like shown in the video, which makes it easier to engage the feed ramp.
Is your shotgun broken? As in dose it normally fire when you chamber a shell? If you keep your finger off the trigger and cycle the action, it should be completely safe to unload them that way.
Your video was very helpful and informative. Really glad I found you. I inherited 6 guns from my brother's estate and he had all of them loaded with 1 bullet in the chamber. I was OK with unloading them all except the Winchester. I didn't unload my Winchester through the chamber. I unloaded the shells through the loading ramp. But I don't know if there is a shell in the chamber either and I need to get it out safely if there is. So I will now check though I'm still going to be very nervous about it. THANK YOU SO MUCH. There was a shell in the chamber and everything went safely in removing it. Now I can rest easy that this thing is completely unloaded.
Ok, so I learnt this the hard way, once the ramp remains up, remove your finger. If you leave it there and pump all the way down the round leaving the magazine will strike your finger with a painful (but not dangerous) amount of force. Ouch
I own my first pump action now, I have not loaded it, it is still fresh out the box. There is a red thing at the end of the magazine tube. I believe it’s the magazine follower. Can anyone confirm?
Sir this video probably saved someone's life
And mine
Probably my,A++++

😂 for real
At first I took this as a joke, then the reality really set in.

Also works for the Benelli nova and supernova confirmed
Hey hows it been these past 6years with your shotgun 😎
@@fabian2littt The Remington is my son's and going strong, mine is a Weatherby and it too is going strong.

Thank God for you and uploading this video. I’m brand new to shotguns and wanted to ensure I knew how to competently unload my new shogun.

yes
What? Lol, this applies to ever single pump shotgun on the planet.....
Excellent video presentation. I watched over a dozen clips on how to unload cartridges from a shotgun and so far this is the best one. Very clear easy to follow instruction. Very slow and clear ! Thank you sir.
One of the best shotgun unloading videos ive seen. Safety first thank you for your upload!
Thank you for this. I had to unload a pump shot gun and wasn't sure how to do this without racking the slide over and over.

Thank you sir, I just bought a winchester sxp and this made it really clear how to safely unload.

probably the easier way to do it

Most excellent! Yer one of the few who use the term Firearm instead of Gun! Anyone who made it thru Boot camp will never ever call a weapon a gun!
Great vid...helped me unload my Winchester Defender safely moments ago. Thank you!
Thanks for the great information. I just removed the shells from my stevens 320 using your method and it unloaded easily!
Mad respect for your regards to safety. My hat is off to you my good sir.

This worked for my Turkish Coppola thank you sir
I just tried this on my Stevens model 320 and it works. Thank you very much
Thanks for posting this. I just got a brand new 12 gauge and I wanted to know the safest way to do this.

Really appreciate your video.
what happens if your shotgun doesnt have a loading ramp ??
Those the magnum 202 jojeef under lever moves in cocking like mode? Cause am seeing the remiton moving below with left arm
thank you very much for this video. don't like the idea of cycling rounds through the chamber to unload
Great video. Thank yoh
Really cool video. It doesn’t work for my Maverick 88 though :/
Very well done video and safety minded.
This works for all pump action shotguns?
Great 👍 information
You just saved me a lot of time and worry.
Not all heroes wear capes..
how do you uncock the trigger after it is unloaded?
Very informative video..
Thank You
Awesome. .thanks
I tried this but the loading door doesn't go low enough and won't let shell come out
thank you
I was wondering how to get one out of the chamber!
Thank you

Pumping the shotgun does not put anything in the receiver assembly
Yes, that's the follower.
@@bb3585 thanks. I didn’t think it would come loaded, just wanted to be sure
