How To: Correctly Prepare and Infill with Acrylic Gel

  • Hello everybody in today's video I’m going to be doing my infills cause man do they need to be done!
I'll start by removing my old design I’m going to use my brand new straight nippers from Nailed by Lucy to remove the bling from this design, now I’m going to remove the gel from this design and I'll show you two different ways of doing that so first of all if you have gel product on a natural nail then use a mandril bit with a medium sanding band, If you have extensions on then use a ceramic bit we have a pink and a purple one here and we will use the pink if there is just a few layers of gel and the purple for move heavy-duty use.
Now ill going to do some cuticle work so using my cuticle bit making sure the rotation of the e-file is pointing away from my nail and we are just filing away any non-living tissue, now we're going to use the proximal fold bit on our e-file still making sure the rotation is pointing away from the nail.
Now ill pop a fine sanding band on my mandrill bit and etch the product around the cuticle area and take away any shine, ok now lets give them a good dust over and I’m going to clean them up using the nail cleanser by Nailchemy.
Now I’m going to do my infills and I’m going to be using Aura Acrylic-gel, prep, and base coat all by Nailchemy, I'll start using the Nail prep essentials just where my natural nail is and ill give that a few seconds to dry and then I’m going to use the base coat again on the natural nail just slightly coming up on to the product and then cure.
Now ill take the Nailchemy spatular with a pea-sized clump of the Nailchemy Aura Acrylic Gel and pop that at the cuticle area, now ill take my BrenDek brush and I have my slip solution in a dappen dish dip your brush in the slip solution and tap the excess off either side before making contact with the nail, then start by shaping the cuticle and reshaping the apex before blending the rest of the product in with the nail and cure it, now I’m going to do the same on the rest of my nails.
Now ill use the cleanser and a lint-free pad to take the sticky layer off the acrylic gel and ill use my metal file to get my side walls nice and straight, Now ill going to set up a metal file board ill start by giving it a clean with the Navy Hygiene spray and then ill pop a 150 grit on one side and a 180 grit on the other and score the edges using a clean disposable file and then we can file our nails in to shape.
Now I’m just going to run over the nails with my buffer make them all nice and smooth then ill wipe over with the cleanser and that’s it now these nails are ready for some artwork.
    Lots of love KM xoxo

When I used to get my nails done (approx. 10yrs ago) they would barely do cuticle care!! When I’d go in for a fill…forget about it!!! They wouldn’t do shit with my cuticles!! That’s only 1 of the reasons I learned to do my own nails!! Thank you so much for all your wonderful videos!!! You are truly AMAZING!!!! I absolutely love your content!!!

Late 90s for me, when I was getting them done. They made no attempt at blending or cuticle care, really. They might push them back, or oil them.

Small tip (you probably know this, but I will say it anyway) on cleaning the rubber mat : Use a lint roller!! That will pick up dust, hair and other nasties!! Even glitter and nail dust will stick to it. Lots of hugs rom KatLa Dragon in Norway

Your nails are amazing! After 3 weeks I find like half the product is lifting because my natural nails are nuts, polish peels off in a week. It doesn't matter how much I prep my nails or what brand I'm using lifting is an issue for me. I'm also brutal with files, I always cut myself. I recently got an infection in my eponychium exactly where a cut from my file had been. Your videos helped me to know to remove the product I had on it before I got antibiotics so I could see what was going on. I love the tip about the secret weapon bit, I'll be trying that from now on. You rock Kirsty.

I noticed you have twisted fingers like mine! I haven't seen anyone else with twisted fingers and so I've really struggled with applying nail tips and building my nails. When I look from one angle they look straight. When I flip my hand around and look at my bent fingers they look crooked and weird. I've found applying my tips and shaping my nails while they are flat extended seems to have them look best, but its hard to file that way. I always want to turn my hand around and work with my palm facing me/fingers bent. I've learned to apply my tips to line up with how the nail grows and not to try to correct it to look straight. When corrected they still look weird and I've learned that my crooked and turned in nails look best even tho they aren't straight. Do you have any tips for creating nails on crooked and twisted fingers??

And you just mentioned it at 5:36 , that you like to review a bunch of product brands, but you've only been using Nailchemy, so can you start really using other brands?
And I thought it would be a really good idea for you to start your own nail company, like create and formulate your own acrylic recipe, selling different colored acrylic or gel or polygel? Have you ever thought of starting your own brand? And not just private labeling but actually formulating an acrylic or gel system/polygel system?

You can name your hand, “Handria”!!! The queen Bailey Sarian has a hand that she named “Handrew” and I think it would be cute if you named her Handria 😊😊😊
