Thanks for the video! Just ordered a pair to replace my 2’s. The 2’s were doing the job dragging a huge set of custom full length blackout curtains but definitely were having a bad time doing it. Wife gave her blessing due to the decrease in noise alone. Looking forward to their arrival!
I have installed these Curtain 3 for the first time ever yesterday and they’re working fantastically. I have set verbal commands using Alexa app and also created scenes for weekdays and weekends that get triggered automatically by Alexa. Super cool. I have a telescopic rod and still working flawlessly. Thanks for the content, keep it up.
Have you been able to test the solar? I have SwitchBot Curtain 1 with the original solar and it never worked properly. It seems it was a common problem due to the light sensor not being sensitive enough (so even if there was enough sun, the light sensor told it not to charge). Would love to upgrade if that's been resolved!
I am actually using 4 curtain panels. 2 on each side. My window is 72" wide and the curtains are pretty heavy. I think some of it will come down to the weight of the curtains. The original Switchbot curtains was on the edge with the weight of mine. This new version is stronger and moves them faster.
I'm really considering getting these because it's basically plug and pllay to a simple curtain rod, however I am hugely let down that they aren't using the new Thread Network.. I'm not really interested in getting a hub and having a fuss with all the setup and additional Network interference.
i'm kicking my self now. i put off getting the switchbot curtain 2 for so long and decided to buy it the start of this month only for version 3 to come out now.
@@CraigsTechTalk like you said.... It's just about working and I can't buy the Sola for it because my rod is too high over the opening.v3 is better for my rod height and I like the new slow open
Hi Craig, Hope tou doping well ? Do i need the switchbot hub to make it work considering that i have a smarthings hub which i can see the logo latter on it and i think those smart curtain are matter to ? Thank you for your answer 😊
@speedracer9132 The only thing I will throw out there is that depending on the size of those windows, custom shades will be $300-$800 a window. But I totally get what you are saying when you add it up like you have. Even as expensive as that $400 is, other options get more expensive. If someone has 2’-3’ wide windows there are some great options smart shade options that might be a better choice. Thanks for watching.
I have two curtains on a single telescoping rod, so installed two so they open to the left and right simultaneously, they also Coming with couple magnets to install exactly where you want each curtain to stop in the middle, working great. If you but them at their site they have a promotion going on I paid about $145 US dollars for two of them. Thanks
Would have liked a head-head comparison of noise at full power. My curtain2 is too weak in quiet mode, and too loud in normal mode. I question whether or not the quiet mode on the 3 will move my curtains, and $90 is a lot to just rest it out
Thanks, sorry I wasn’t able to provide that for you. My curtains are heavy and I wouldn’t use the old version in quiet mode. It was especially bad where it had to step up to a larger diameter on the rod. The quiet mode has been moving my curtains fine on these new ones. The twice the power really helps.
@@CraigsTechTalkI can’t but I understand that you are trying to be relatable. I am truly baffled by the number of people complaining about the price. Good smart home tech costs money.
Hey Brian, I am not sure what part you are referring to as getting snagged. If it was the right curtain, the rod size changes from a smaller diameter extension, to a larger diameter. The motor is passing over that and stepping up to the larger diameter. I realize the one B roll clip with the tape is from the version 1 SwitchBot curtain. These come with an aluminum piece that has clear tape on it. You wrap it around the portion of curtain rods where the diameter changes. That way the motor can get past the change. With the newer motors strength, I was able to pull that off. There are two magnets that attach to the rod now for calibration.
Of course, your video was optimal again However, you have to reduce your enthusiasm a little, because the system is not as good as described here. It was written at all. Certainly, version 3 is a good mature option. However, and this is known on the net. Are the technicians so unable to produce correctly working software that constantly only causes problems? Alone on average three times a week, I have problems with the software for the door lock. It often has to be re-recorded, just because it’s spinning somewhere, I can’t understand how euphoric you present this here. But if you have paid for it, you have to offer shoes with holes in the sole!

Would this go well for outside porch curtains as well?

ordered the Switchbot 3!! here in the UK. I bought the Switchbot 2 based on your reviews previously!
Can the 2nd gen and the 3rd gen work together or do i need to get a pair
So in your demo curtain, you have two installed?
Yes I do, one for each side
Have you been able to test the solar? I have SwitchBot Curtain 1 with the original solar and it never worked properly. I have a very large window. So I have 4 curtain panels. Can you run two of the bits on each side having one stop half way when you close the curtains

oooh. Nice timing!

Thanks. I've got a pair coming today...watch me make a complete disaster of the whole set-up process like I always do with everything 🤣🤣
i'm kicking my self now. i put off getting the switchbot curtain 2 for so long and decided to buy it the start of this month only for version 3 to come out now.
I am sorry to hear that. That is very frustrating. I hope your curtain 2s are working well.

The price for what it does is hard for me to get excited about. I would rather buy a camera, lights, or switch for a lot less money.
Same for me, I have two double curtains in my living room so these would cost nearly $400 with tax just for those two windows
I can appreciate what you are saying. There are a lot of other devices that you can get with that same money.

Thank you Ron. I appreciate you checking out the video. Have a great weekend.
If you have one long curtain rod, but two curtains on that single rod, do you need to buy two of them

I have the 2nd gen
I'll open it by myself
The price is insane
I can appreciate that.

Awesome videos sorry im soo late
lol looks like the curtain snagged love the tape on the rod. That was always my fear with these.
