2nd question. Currently the patio door has the vertical slat blind system...I'm not seeing that this will work with these blinds...please confirm that I will need to put up a "curtain" rod to make this work. (I would keep vertical blinds completely open to one side and use curtains on there own).
Great video. Here is my question. I want to purchase this curtain switch bot for a young mans apartment that has special needs. I can set this bot up to control the opening and closing on my I phone (I do not live there) and it can work in his apartment, correct? I want to have the control so I know the curtain is closed every night. He will forget to do this so its for a safety reason. I ideally would have it be 7 days a week setting a time to open and close...not rely on sunset sunrise...limited sun do to patio door facing north and a big tree. Thoughts?
@@erickdiaz7954 at the time this video came out their only matter enabled Hub was this one. They have since then come out with a newer version of the hub mini (hub 1) that is also matter enabled.
I use Philips Hue Bulbs and have smart automated heating, of which both require hubs, I have them connected to my router. Can i use one of these as the bridges or will i need the switchbot hub 2. If so, will I need to add this to my router too? or does it just need to be on in the house and connected to wifi?
Yes. Unfortunately SwitchBot matter products need to be connected to a SwitchBot hub in order to connect them to HomeKit. & it does exclusively use WiFi without an Ethernet port. I believe the original SwitchBot hub just gained support for matter witch might be a more cost effective option.
@@CScott4k thank you so much. It’s annoying because I feel all these ‘smart’ products require an individual hub to work with apple HomeKit and there’s only so many hubs you can have connected to your router…
You could use Siri by creating a shortcut in the shortcuts app to access the SwitchBot app but you would not be able to use Siri to control it through Apple Home directly.
More about the SwitchBot Hub 2!

Thank you! This would have taken me forever! This whole process was not terribly intuitive for this first timer.
@@tophertmg glad it helped. It’s definitely not the easiest process!

Yes, you would need to install a curtain rod!

Morning, only the hub 2 supports Siri and HomeKit? Or the hub 1 ( the one that does not have the screen) is also compatible?

@@TravelTings123 I agree, it can become a lot quickly. Wherever possible I try to stick to thread devices that don’t require one
@@CScott4k what products have you got that are thread only?
Awesome videos sorry im so late
Thank you! I appreciate the compliment 🙌🏼
I can operate the curtain through the iOS app with out the hub. Can I not then do Siri though my phone without the hub too?

Can i use google home automations/routines with curtains 3 and hub 2? Thanks
Yes, it can be added and controlled with any of the major platforms through the SwitchBot hub 2!
SwitchBot Hub 2! Now supported in HomeKit!
