Full Build: Rolling Chassis to Finished One-Off Hot Rod Street Truck

- Today, we're starting a project to build an awesome 1937 Ford! We'll show you our plans to build a tricked out Hot Rod Truck that'll be lowered, chopped, loud and just plain old cool. Project Hot Rod Truck gets its drivetrain in the form of a hot small block Ford V8, a 6 speed manual transmission, a one piece driveshaft and a bullet proof rear end. It's a driveline guaranteed to smoke Project HRT's massive 22 inch wide rear tires! This truck's skin is made of fiberglass not metal but don't worry, glass work is not as hard as you think and we'll show just how it's done. Then, our frame will be turned into a work of art by one our favorite custom shops and then back in the shop, we'll start planning out the right interior for this awesome '37 Ford before we're painting Project HRT!
First, we'll plan out what makes for a great looking and timeless paint job and then it's off to the booth to spray more than a dozen different layers of paint. And after that, we'll put all the pieces back together to make metal, fiberglass and paint become Project HRT and it's wearing the coolest paint job to ever roll out of the Trucks! shop. Then one of the very best metal crafters ever, Ron Covell, stops by the shop to teach us how to make our own handmade and very unique air intake for HRT.

1990 called and wants its truck back.
Looks better than the crap people build now. Specifically the rust bucket look.
hahahaaa
I really enjoy the build videos
The HRT ended up being a breathtakingly beautiful hotrod any collector would enjoy for many, many years to come.
Steel is Real.
Gorgeous. Especially that interior. It would be an absolute joy to own something like this, whoever the winner was, that person was extremely lucky & they must have been elated!
Wow…really nice truck
Sweet looking Ride well done.
First,, I LUV EVERYTHING about this sweet build but that media blasting of the deck wood is too cool.
I've never been lucky enough to win something like that
and if you don't know it
that chrome dash is going to absolutely drive you nuts with reflections and glare as you drive.
it won't take long before it gets covered in something to make it user friendly .
It definitely looks like a show not go option.
I'm definitely a bristler, Chevs in Fords piss me off BIG TIME ! Thanks for doing this truck RIGHT !!
I guess you get pissed off a LOT then. 🤣
WOW! BEAUTIFUL TRUCK!
Beautiful truck guy . Well done
love the flames, just still love the 90s ghost flames
seeing the toy hauler makes me miss my 99 powerstroke..
Your editing is out of site ,,,,,,,top
very nice truck
Just Awesome .
REALLY AWESOME TRUCK NICE WORK GUYS
I could only imagine driving that around with the wifey next to me
That fibreglassing looked like itchy city 😳 nice looking body’s though cool 👍
Re the color combo. The guys mentioned the black 'n gold has already been done. Yep,, it has but how many hotrods have we seen in black 'n red? Hundreds? Thousands? Bottom line red 'n black is nice but it's kinda boring,, don't cha' think?. With all the amazing colors we see out there on the latest factory cars (have any of you seen the pearlescent bronze I've seen on a 2018 C7? It absolutely blew my mind!) I would have thought the guys could have tossed around combining some of the latest factory colors, perhaps added some pearl then going with ghost flames,, it's an old art but 'ghost flames' are still #1 in my book.
Here in Australia HRT stands for Holden Racing Team
When welding near fiberglass a fire extinguisher is your best friend and you can't have it close enough... Just a hint carry it around and keep it very close. Also fire blankets or aluminum foil is a good idea too. Hint hint
Trucks beautiful. Just wondering if the government makes them have to crash test those vehicles?
No the government is going to make them convert to EV
45:25
1:00:05 Advance Plating
1:09:17 Red and Black Two Tone
We used panel bond to hold that style taillights in when building custom baggers
When working with fibreglass wear a one piece coverall and gloves - seal the wrists with duct tape then you don't get itchy dust on you!
The HRT TRUCKwould love it at 383 gears or the gears u set in video. With midnight blue pearl with gold ,red, green an yellow.
I would of left the flames off!
I would love to win it for my husban. Since he has retired he watches your chanel all the time
This giveaway was over years ago. This show isn't even made anymore.
You guys love that 350 engine is better medal better engine sandals seriously that’s over with
If anyone is interested, Legend Motors/Downs Designs appears to be a good 14 years out of business. It *sounds* like they ripped off a lot of people for their deposits too.
Also, MEK is a reducer, not a hardener.
Beautiful, but it's still fiberglass.
Better than nothing.
Cluttered and hard to read. Then they chrome plated the dash because that will help make it easier to read.
Well i must admit yall put a lot of work into this one but in all honesty its gaudy sometimes less is more and i think this is one of those times
Inside the truck look tan leather buckets
What happened to the mustang seats
wonder who bought all their tooling when they closed shop.
your giving it away?!?! shit ill take it!!!
They did, years ago.
is this boyds old shop?
How to you enter to win street rod
I would like to enter for this truck
This was originally on TV years ago. In fact, this Legend Motors is out of business. Sounds like a lot of people got ripped off for their deposits too.
Yeah, any comments 47?
Tell them that wiping down the vehicle gets fucking old, and yes I know this was years ago!
A little upset they went with a ladder bar
Why? Aside from it not being yours, it's appropriate for the style of build.
Can't find a website for Legend Motors, Down Designs....
@@SpaceInTime1885
Thank you. Where did you find that information...
This is old buddy, over 10 years minimum.
legend motors worldwide is what downs used to be,found them through jalopnick
I just looked, last word I found on then was from 2008, and it sounds like they ripped off a lot of people.
awesome But where it now?????
Chevy engine in this particular Ford isn't a very big issue, since it isn't an actual Ford, just molded to look like one...nothing about it came from Ford originally, so why would cross breeding matter at that point? Good looking truck though...
In my opinion It aint a true ford hot rod if it doesnt have a flathead, still a great build though
@ 1:06:01 Isn't the guy to the left the same guy that's become fat and the presentator and mechanic of a show in powernation?
Is there a non binary mold?😂😂
Hahahahahaha
But, it's only good for shows .
You can't haul anything in it , you would be afraid of driving or parking it anywhere, someone might steal it or scratch it.
It kinda becomes an expensive, worthless headache.
Just a toy for none rainy days .
It's like having a figit spinner .
😄
or it becomes something to enjoy. it obviously is not a daily driver to go back and forth to work. my vehicles are definitely more fun than a fidget spinner.
I Slo-mo live in coyote engines come on man it’s a Ford it’s not a Chevy
Meh, would have been better with a Chevy engine. 👍🏻
Big block have moer power than small block
if i had the mony i'd buy as many hot-rods and turn them back into looking as original , sad to see all of that talent goes to waist , classics are not made to go fast
