I wonder why the emperor not show his appreciation toward his sons, guiding when they lost. Was he that a busy dad ? Atleast spend weekend building sand castle with perturabo and dorn
There is consistent display of emperor does not recognize Primarchs as his sons, but super generals who meant to conquer a galaxy for his ultimate goal. Occasionally paying lip service to make them slightly happy. There is also later accounts that emperor already knew chaos plan called "which-son's-heresy" when all sons plunged into space. This knowledge only worsen emotional connection between emperors and the daddy issue Primarchs. Emperor does not clearly understand who is on the Horus's side until the very end despite he should be the best divination psychic user. Take salt for what I write, I dont even know where all this information comes from any more.
The Emperor, unfortunately, didn't have much affection for his sons. He didn't "love" them as family, he just saw them as military assets to fulfill the purpose of the great crusade.
GrimDark Narrator weeell. . I guess that if they would not had been scattered, the big E would had them risen and trained exactly to his likening. . Like the terra risen Russ in the head of Leeman Russ.. . But. The Emperor only hates one thing more than ignorance, which is chaos. Once Chaos touched his , and i quote an elderly to describe em, "mon'kheig god princes" they where tainted and a lost cause to him. He could never invest trust in them , being touched by chaos. He needed em , but all and any sentiment or bond he may had envisioned for them and their destined roles where never disclosed to to the primarchs. Touched by chaos? For big E you are de facto dead, a risky blade to be manipulated instead of embraced because untrustworthy.
Fun fact: Frater Perdurabo was the pen name Aleister Crowley choose for himself when he wrote his, somewhat infamous, "Book of Lies" ! My guess would be someone at GW did more then just some occult research!
I don't know. If any Primarch fits the bill for Crowley, it would probably be Fulgrim. Crowley was into some freaky stuff. Like sodomy while tripping balls on hallucinogens freaky. As for GW and their studying of the Occult. I can't help but feel their idea on Chaos Magic comes from the knee-jerk reactions of Wiccans who actually think they're practicing ancient magic, and rights. Either way it makes for good story telling.
GW is notorious for ripping off lore and mythology from many different sources. Ironically, some of their results are arguably better than the original thing, lol.
Perdurabo translates to "I shall endure" Peturbo "I shall terrify/confuse/alarm " Perturabo: one of the best and most accurate names in the setting. as another comment says Crowley pen name was i shall endure.. also chaos magick is pretty in with the creative crowd I know Grant morrison and aphex twin do it a lot I dabble hither and thither. (its more parapsychology than anything.)
Basically, he was fed up with the shit jobs the Emperor gave him, and the way some of his brothers treated him like an inferior citizen. He didn't turn because he was evil. He turned because of his bitterness towards life in general.
I love the iron warriors they have some of the best lore about them. If he was raised better I don't think he would as brutal as he is now.

Perturbed all over
The Flash is weak
Pert is my favorite Primarch out of all his brothers he got stuck with the most hellish war zones and was never even thanked for it
While others certainly played a part, him too played into the victim role and never tried to rise out of it.
Perturabo- "I climbed a mountain when I was but a boy."
Konrad Kurze- " Bitch please. I had to dig my way through the core of a fucking planet."

True. The idea/theory of the Big E being Jesus, Buddha, & Shiva, keeps me warm at night.

Never knew that. thanks for sharing.
Every time I think of quiting my Iron Warriors project I just listen to GDM and his awesome telling of the greatest of Primarchs.
I'm glad it motivates you :D
Good video on the Iron Warriors.
thanks.
Give Perturabo Girlyman's dad and he'd be normal.
But then we might have a bitter Guilliman instead :D
Love the Warhammer 40k vids, second time watching all your amazing primarchs playlist :)
Glad you like them!
when you cant stop your sons incredible passion towards piercings.
Daily dose of GDN is better than a pack of 20 Lo Sticks !
At least, I don't cause cancer...yet.
I never understood his turn to chaos. Zero

Sounds like a sad and broken hearted man he is.
For the algorithm...
