Thunder Warriors were pretty much a proto-astartes version of soldier. They were brawnier, even slightly bigger, but at the same time stupider and with unstable genetics. They were made just to help the Emperor conquer Terra and then literally die from deteriorating genetics and other flaws (including being put down by the space marines themselves at the Emperor's command).
Sorry, but the Lore tells it different on a few points. Mk I armour: "During this period most fighting consisted of close combat, warriors preferring to grapple with each other rather than use long range weapons - the power of a warrior's chest and arms was therefore of paramount importance." Thunder Warriors, like Mk I armour, were named after the Emperor's Unification Wars symbol. Mk IV armour is called Maximus because it is meant to be the pinnacle of power armour design. What are the references to Stealth about? Power Armour is generally not designed for stealth, right down to its colouration. The only suit designed with any thought to stealth is the Mk VI Corvus Armour. The information above is mainly taken from the original Formative Armour article by Rick Priestley.
There's differing lore on a lot of "older" segments of 40k lore. What you say is probably correct but unfortunately I don't have access to alternative sources sometimes.
Most of what was written by Rick Priestley still holds true. That's why I transcribed it and uploaded it to a few forums over the years. www.tapatalk.com/groups/thefirstexpedition/30k-power-armour-development-t8-s30.html Some parts of it have been superseded more recently by FW, yet that which hasn't is still canon & lore.
Mark 3 is my favorite.
Mark IV First armour which Mechanicum actualy tried to make armor look cool
Well, it was designed to be the universal one from that point on.
1:53 those are some pretty thicc bolters.
The Mark IV Is The Best Armor. Its So Baddas That Cawl Made Mark 10 In The Honour Of Mark IV And Combine It With The Turtle Shell That Is Mark VIII
Nice to know about mark III in details. Thanks for the info.
Sure thing.

Glad it was useful :)
Great video GDN , a really enjoyable report of the earliest types of power armor. I always liked the Mk.3 Iron armor best. Keep up the great work .
Thanks for the support :)
real men wear flak armor
So what would you called those wo doesn’t wore flak armour like the catachans?
Even more real men wear no armor at all.
GrimDark Narrator real men their fist as power fist and their muscles as terminator armour
Damn right!
Imperator titan: Ira except any normal man would be obliterated by a power fist realistically xD
Another great video as always
Thanks.
Damn that intro music. Can't wait for the rest
The next armoury video is gonna be about bolter ammunition but after that I'll finish the armour marks.
One hour video??? Yes please!
Sure, if you want ONE video a week :P
We are the space marines! The Emperor's fury!
They are cool of course but my personal favor will always be the Mark 6 as always I enjoyed the lure and look forward to the next thank you.
Thanks for watching.
I didn’t know Michio Kaku likes warhammer.
Mk II for the win!
Rocking like its 30k once again.
I want thunder warrior models. Maybe a necromunda force of them. Arik could be the gang leader.
So what was the difference between the thunder warriors and the spacemanrine? Also keep up the this great video GDN 👍👍👍

@Leo Nidas Yeah only by constantly replacing their failing organs.
@Leo Nidas Now calling me a nazi is just uncalled for.
@Leo Nidas Huh dude are you okay?
Can Power Armor survive star wars blasters even though they shoot plasma not lasers?
Since they're different universes with different "magic" physics, I'd say it would depend on who is writing it.
if power armor can withstand multiple pulse rifle hits, then it will probably withstand 2 blaster hits at least.
I just eat this stuff up with a spoon!

Does anyone know what the mark IX power armour was?
It wasn't. GW went straight from 8 to 10 :D
seems power armor is supported by Microsoft and operates on Windows.
First to comment 1st
Sly Carl so instead of thanking GDN you post this nice
He has become sort of a mascot around here (no offense intended). Actually I appreciate his posting of that at every video.
