Hello Huw,
A big piece. as if dangerous while turning. I was a little scared. there are many cracks. It gave them a different atmosphere. I hope you finish this project next time. Kevin performed well. 7 fairs in May this is great. I love these types of organizations. It must be fun to participate. All the best. Cheers Huw
Your friend Mehmet
Thanks Mehmet, I have turned much bigger pieces and as soon as all those cracks became visible I stopped, as I said in the video.
I am confident I will get this one finished and it will be lovely.
The fairs will be a very busy time I'm sure.
Take care my friend and thanks for your concern.
Cheers, Huw
Need to get anchor seal for the bowls keeps the end grain on lumber from cracking
Thanks Chris.
I used a drying box to dry the wood so didn't think I didn't think I needed Anchor Seal.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Awesome turning Huv.
Thanks Micky.
Hope you are keeping well my friend.
Take care.
Cheers, Huw
Looks like it's going to be a beauty when finished, Huw! It's great to see two friends working together in the shop. Looking forward to the final turning of this piece! Be well, my friend! 😀
Phil
Thank you Phil, I really enjoy working with Kevin, it just feels so fluid.
I'm looking forward to finally finishing this one as I think it will be stunning.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Well Huw this has become quite the challenge for sure. We never know what we are going to find on anything we turn and doing a twice turned bowl can sure had to the surprises.
What I see here is determination to make something nice out of what nature has provided. I think your hard work is going to pay off.
Take care my friend!
Hwyl,
Gary
Thanks Gary, I don't do much second turning but I do like the surprises along the way when I do.
I think this become one of my favourite bowls I have turned.
Take care my friend.
Hwyl, Huw
So, I had to look it up and found "Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery". So nice to have a friend like Kevin who could show you the way. Going to be areal beauty guys ! Can't wait. ⏳👀 Thanks for sharing Huw. Take care. -Mike
Thanks Mike. I did look it up myself after seeing it on another video and seemed very appropriate.
I have known Kevin for nearly half my life and he is a really good friend.
Take care Mike
Cheers, Huw

Looking forward to seeing the completed bowl. Not unusual for oak to pull apart like that. Not sure I’ve seen a blank with that much cracking though. Good job!
Thanks Doug, I think it will look very nice. I've not seen cracking to that degree either.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw

Looking great Huw! Always amazes me how much wood can move after being cut. On the upside, the chatoyance should be incredible.
Cheers!
Thanks Dana, It's one of the reasons I love turning wood.
Take care my friend.
Cheers, Huw
Last lol Amazing how much wood can move and oak can be tricky at times .I tried several times untill successful to make a very large oak goblet and when turning came across all sorts of cracks and fissures that wasn't noticeable untill way into the job , Its looking good so far and looking forward to seeing the finished bowl Take care mate Bram
Haha, First or Last I don't mind Bram.

Aha! That's what the dentist's drill sound was! Good gravy, those cracks are absolutely fierce - I'd have thought that was firewood but I'm hugely impressed that you'll be persevering with it. More power to your elbows lads and keep your facemasks on. Cheers Huw!
Haha, I did say all would be revealed.
I have never seen wood crack like that before, thank goodness.
I did say, in the video, it might keep us warm for a while which is when Kevin said to me "I have an idea".
I'm so looking forward to going back to getting this one finished.
Take care Mark and love to you both.
Cheers, Huw
