Sure am glad I commented on you giving commentary, Helps me understand what you are doing, when its being explained. You have a good sense of humor too! Keep up the good work!
David, I’m going to agree with Suzanne…the perfect fruit bowl. You turned that into a beautiful piece of Art. Also I love the three legs you seamlessly create on the bottom. That is my favorite.👍
Worms, are one of the ways that a piece of wood can become special, but this piece had spalting as well, so it was twice as special. 😃 Oak is so strange, it never gets tired of moving around, and making cracks. I think your vase/bowl is very lovely.
I love it! Definitely a vase. A cluster of tall wild flowers standing up in the middle, the stems embedded in a foam base encased in a low profile glass container so, the moisture can’t hurt your beautiful creation.. a vase within a vase. Absolutely gorgeous!
Fun to watch you work and listen to your commentary. If you put flowers in it then it's a vase, if you put fruit in it then it's a bowl. Depends on what you want on your table.
As always, a beautiful piece of wood turning. Love the care you take in making this fantastic work of art, as you always do. Have a blessed day.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🧓🏻
At the end of the video, I pictured two worms after that spinning log, Frist worm, "Wooaaahh.. What just happened?" Second WormL, "I don't know, but I'm never eating there again." (Another great creation by the way.)
@@DavidsWoodturning Always a pleasure. What logs and wood, I'd have turned down you are able to turn into something incredible. Talent and hard work have served you well. and maybe a little luck also.
It’s beautiful, David. And I too love the first coat of finish, bringing out the beauty of the wood. You have more patience than I, carving out and sanding the feet. 🌞
I'd call it a bowl as to use as a vase, you'd need something to hold the flowers more upright. I like it and the cracks add a very nice natural element.
David it is a stunning bowl, the grain and the colours really popped when you applied the finish. I even like the cracks and the work holes.😘😘 thanks for posting the video, all those really cool people that watch and haven't subscribed please do David makes great content and it won't cost you anything.🙏😁😁
Thank you so much :) I promised myself if I do voiceover I will not be the boring talking guy . So want to bring in some fun as turning is certainly full of fun.
Vase or bowl or just a beautiful piece of art and I really liked the way you did the base with those three legs, and thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge with us 👍🪵🌳
How on earth you got that wormy tree trunk into that beautiful bowl is a total miracle, what a beautiful result!! Glad to see you really enjoyed all that sanding, didn't see a nice glass of cold beer to refresh you though 🤣🤣🍺 🏆🥇
Thank you so much 😊 Glad you enjoyed! You definitely need to watch the past 2-3 vids as recently started. It was an overwhelming success from your all guys so I will carry on 😀
Hi David you always amaze me I didn't think you could use let alone make anything from this piece of wood. But with your patience and time you have made a brilliantly awesome piece of art turning this magnificent bowl. I really liked your commentary telling us what you was doing I really enjoyed it thank you. I liked the finish you used it really brought the grain and the patterns in the wood out. Thank you once again for a great video , you are one of my favourite wood turner. Amanda x
I couldn't wrap my head around why you are turning the log sideways - until you were done with the exterior and turned the lathe off. Those two "white" circles were just out of this world there!
Watched the video just for the sanding. Whewww! Nothing gets my blood pumping like several hours of hand sanding. The rest of the video was cool too, I guess.
Absolutely. Most boring part of the job but one of the most important. Wood is rather forgiving but if you don’t take you time with resin the end result will not be nice
That turned out so nice. I really enjoy all your videos. Your narration is wonderful. The more explanation you give the better. It’s nice to know why you choose and how are you choose solutions to problems. I would like to start putting feet on my pieces. It takes courage to take a nearly finished work and carve into it. I have considered it on a piece before but chickened out fearing that I would ruin it. I think I might try to purchase the tool that you used in this one because it looks like it’s a bit more delicate. Thank you again for posting I love the art you create.
Thanks so much Duane. I was also bit hesitant to get on with my first carved feet but actually it is super simple while it gives so much feature to any project. Just turn a simple blank into a shape like bottom of a vase or bowl and do a trial run. Some people use Dremel with burr bit but i found this is one of the best machines (long neck grinder from Proxxon) for the job.
I'm impressed that you collected the worms and did not kill them. I unsubscibed from a channel ( can't remember who it was) because he stomped worms to death on his video. Totally unnecessary and cruel. Love the bowl too!
Enjoyed the sanding humor (American spelling), thank you for the chuckles. I would call that a deep fruit bowl. Vase implies it can hold water for the plants, and there were some holes from the cracks that wouldn't allow it to hold much water. Beautiful piece, though. Well done! 👍👍

WoW! Bowl is what I would use it for. Coffee table in my living room full of dry flowers.

Stunning piece. The feet enhance the bowl/vase/vessel 😁so much more than a standard flat bottom.

Thanks for watching and your feedback :)

Yeah when you do sideways it shows a very different side of the log. This is how live edge bowls/hollowforms etc can be made
Great piece David, came with it's own supply of bird food as well. :-)
Yeah true :) Thanks so much 😀
Very pretty.

Sure it is 😀

Thanks Tommy! :)
Call it the bose; a combination of a bowl and a vase. :D
Thank you so much 😊 Glad you enjoyed and yeah a good shout
This bowl is beautiful! Love the shape and the feet. Great job!
Thank you so much 😊 Glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful bowl! The markings from the wood worms did give the piece some character.
I don't like worms! 🪱 I was cringing when I saw them! 😝

Awesome work as always 😊👍🏻. Would love to see a video where explain your process on how you work out what you are going to make.

I hope you kept the worms and set the little buggers in resin for another project 😂😂😂😂😂
That would be a cool project but the hate I would get here probably does not worth the risk 😂😂

Absolutely beautiful bowl/vase!! What kind of finish did you use?
PS nice sanding and sanding and sanding job!!
Thank you so much 😊 I used mineral oil
It’s a vessel of some kind
Very nice - but I'm surprised at how little sanding you do :)
Thank you. As long as you know how to edit video you can make sanding to look fun :)
I agree with everyone else it will make a good fruit bowl.
Thank you :)

A Base :)
It would be nice to have two types: one with commentary and one without.
It is fun to imagine how the shape is formed while watching.
Thank you :)
Feel make it a vase.
It clearly is a Vase/Vase.
all the worms inside the wood flying around at 800 rpm: 😵💫😵💫🥴🤮
Honestly I do not think there was any inside the low when started turning. They pretty much were under the bark
