That’s perfectly fine, that’s like saying why do they put a drain plug in the bottom of an oil pan. Will it leak, maybe, but if done right it will never leak. Everything is engineered for its intended use, even the best watches will leak past certain depths of water, as an example. So, putting a screw in the bottom of a gutter is fine just like it’s fine to put a drain plug in the bottom of an oil pan.

As a professional Roofer who sees gutters on a daily basis and occasionally installs gutters that is definitely not how you install them… if you DIY please inform your self as much as you can before going out and trying based off of one video.
These are not normal gutters correct, you won’t see these where you’re from most likely. Look at the shape closely again. And this is exactly how they are installed in this area on 1 million plus homes. Things are done differently geographically but doesn’t make it wrong. They look good, never leak, etc no call backs ever, homeowners couldn’t be happier. I’ve seen 100 worse trust me this is great

Only time you can weld something is on bare metal 18ga min thickness. These are painted aluminum gutter 1/2 that thickness. At best you can maybe solder. Solder and welds can crack from stress in joints as well. Only proper lengths of gutter will reduce that stress, which you don’t know what that is.

Dude you need to put screws on the bottom of the mitters but normally I use just the two to one on the Corner towards the face and one towards the back of the gutter but if you put them on right you won’t have a little opening on the bottom of the gutter and also his way of putting this mitter on is complete doodoo
