Hi Carolina, thank you for reloading Ep7 with sound. I enjoyed it better this time! The ply wood on the upstairs bedroom floor is going to make it easier to get the room finished. Well done to your family for working so hard together to be ready for your Czechoslovakian winter! Put on your wishlist knee pads x2 for your Mum and anyone else kneeling down a long time on the floors. It'll make it more comfortable when gardening too! Best wishes to you and your lovely family! And i have a website for you to look at for good teaching on how to grow things. It’s a family that has five boys and has a homestead in South Carolina in the United States. The Vlog is “roots and refuge“. She is absolutely marvelous about being totally honest about what she doesn’t know but she’s been doing it for a while and she does know quite a bit about planting gardens and I think you could get a lot of good help from her. I’m almost 75 years old and I will Never be gardening again but I love watching it!
The clowning around with the runway and your brother is absolutely wonderful I love the way you jump into things and and do them and that thing that you introduced episode seven with was brilliant! Thanks for sharing your life it’s the high point of my day when I get something from you!

Okay - I have a friend who used large sheets of plywood like that on his floor. He used a permanent marker to draw lines down the length. When he was through it roughly looked like planks of wood flooring, he then sanded it lightly and stained it, then varnished it. When he was through you couldn’t tell it was plywood - it actually looked like a hardwood floor had been laid.

I lived on a floathome and had little money for DIY. I put brown kraft paper on the floor in random sizes and shapes then 3 layers of poly finish. People loved it and thought it was a cork floor. It was perfectly fine until I had the money to lay a proper floor ( 4 yrs).

On the doors, It must have been an oil based paint originally. You can’t put a latex paint over an oil based paint. That’s why it’s peeling.

    • @moonbeamer4468
      @moonbeamer4468 2 роки тому +46

You can paint over oil based paint if you use a primer like Kilz.

      100% what Kelly Green said.
This same thing happened to us with our front porch wood. The latex paint kept peeling off. Turns out that the underlying paint was oil based.
You'll need to either find a primer that can bond to both oil based and latex based paints, or else find an oil based paint and use that instead.
      Good luck and best wishes!

I am in total amazement in the work your family is doing to your house. Your whole family is an inspiration to others. My brother and I were just talking about here in the USA when people buy an older house here they want everything fixed, repaired, and looking new both inside and outside.
I guess folks here have gotten really lazy or never learn how to fix things in a house. So it is so uplifting to see all your family just join in and work at all the projects you have going. That is why people want to help you anyway they can. Thank you and your family for sharing with us your extended family around the world.

One hot summer day the skies suddenly opened and the rain poured down torrentially. My son and his girlfriend Lysse ran outside together and danced and spun and laughed, getting soaked to the skin. This remains one of my favourite memories ever. They were in a parking lot next to a busy highway. No matter. They danced in the rain anyway. 💖

use a shellac based primer on the doors. you have oil paint underneath and are using latex (water based) over it = peeling. @@nino2121 I agree! You will have to use alcohol to clean if you use brushes....smelly. Shellac comes in flake - use alcohol to make your own to specific strength - clear, amber white pigmented - all work great as a primer and sealer for wood knots and tannins. If I had an old house, I would keep some on hand as it can be very versitile and useful for prepping surfaces. Keep denatured alcohol as a solvent.

I enjoy seeing you playing and all the giggles and laughter, and your mum enjoying a little moment frolicking in her designer gown! Too funny! I’m sure you’ve heard, “All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy!” You have a sweet family. Thanks for sharing!

Ideas for your amazon wish list -
You should definitely put things you need for projects on your amazon wishlist...things you may not need right away but will need or could always use more of like sandpaper etc
Anything thatll help you continue doing your UA-cam channel and/or "upgrading" it - like a light on a tripod (for your darker rooms and/or night filming etc)
And adding the fun things like the wood carving kit and things to add to/spruce up your home are cool too :) Make sure when you add things like cups and plates etc that you change the quantity to what you need or want. Like ya might do 5 of everything but what about when your aunts/uncles visit? So maybe change the quantity to 10 each etc.
    Sending love from Massachusetts USA!

I agree. Put things on there that you might think is too expensive yet there may be someone who would buy it for you. Ask your Mum and Dad what they might need to make renovations easier or quicker for them. I`ve tried to order from your list on Amazon but I don`t know how to get it sent to you and not me. Any help would be appreciated. Keep up the good work Karolina.

Oh my goodness, no wonder you are the one that cooks for your family! you make delicious meals! I am amazed that at 16 you are such a good cook. What a blessing to your Mum! Love watching your videos so much. Nice seeing your older brother. So he is staying in London and just coming to help you all on the weekends? That will be wonderful.

If you scrape the walls, get a larger and heavy-duty putty knife. The one you are showing in this video is too small for the big job. You will be at it forever! And as every one else said, before you paint, prime first with a product like KILZ. That will solve the problem with peeling because you cannot put latex paint over oil based paint. Also, if you still have issues with the cats, set up a cat pan for the kittens so they dont poop everywhere. Lastly, since I just came off like a Mom, which I am (sorry!) --I absolutely love your videos. You have a real talent and it shows in the quality of your video work. You are such a hard worker and I wish you the best in your new life. I look forward to watching the progress in your home each week. Keep up the good work and hugz and love from Seattle, USA.

I saw your video twice, it was nice to finally see your older brother. I know you didn't ask...before you buy your paint for the bathroom make sure to get one specific for bathrooms because it will get a lot moisture, that way you can prevent paint chipping in the future. I hope I didn't sound rude. Can't wait to see your next video.

Sand the doors, clean with mineral spirits and prime them. Let dry well then paint them. Priming is key to a good paint job.
