You know, I got into these videos trying to understand love. And as I've grown as a person, that has become less of a focus for me. You're the only dating coach I still listen to, because in recent times, you have become more philosophical with your input. And this is one of the videos that I personally enjoy most. The "every little effort counts" is very inspiring to me. It's what I needed to hear, because I often struggle with perfectionism which results in me doing nothing, because I am to scared to. I am working on it. And that's a mantra I am going to add to my coping-repertoire. Thank you.
I must say I’m a 71 year old woman and still interested in a relationship. I recently found you on UA-cam. With each an every video I have watched; I have gained great insight on relationships: I do mean plural all relationships; it doesn’t matter people, people in general. Your information is priceless! Keep up the good work!
As a cancer survivor this year, this message is invaluable to me. Patience is key right now. I have so many friends pushing me to get out there again and I know what my limits are at the moment and what I want to improve gradually.
1. Life has to be lived in the "middle". 2. Stop waiting for space to breathe, change the way you breathe 3. Stop waiting for fresh start 4. Don't over exaggerate how much of your time is needed 5. Be patient
Honestly, if you strike out the word “love” from the title of this video, it’s just simply great life advice. Even a lot of the things Matthew is talking about aren’t related to love and relationships but are just about doing your best in life everyday in everything.
#3 Lose the fiction of the fresh start. I completely agree. Just yesterday I was talking with my 18 year old daughter about this, about the importance of seeing ourselves and our whole lives as a beautiful process, continuously happening, for when we seek a fresh start or erase and redo, we diminish the value of our past versions and experiences, but, how could we be who we are today and be where we are if not because of them? And, isn’t beautiful and inspiring to see our growth and evolution throughout our lives? And we could only do that if we embrace it all, our whole imperfectly beautiful story. Thank you so much for another very helpful video Matthew! Happy New Year! 🎉
Matt I just have to say that I first discovered you during the pandemic with your netflix show "Single Wives" and then later on went to watch and binge all of your content up until now. Just need you to know that you have completely changed my entire LIFE, not just my LOVE life. Your content is so original and unique because you incorporate LIFE changes that people need to make in order to subsequently effect their love life in a positive way. I have yet to come across a dating coach that does this so perfectly. I've never left a comment in the 2 years that I've been consuming your content, but I thought it was time because you give so much FREE value to people that is actually changing LIVES.. and creating such a positive and healthy ripple effect into the Universe that I just needed to let you know.. you are literally changing the WORLD. Just by being you. So thank you so much for everything, and most importantly thanks so much for just being YOU. The relatability of just being yourself, idiosyncrasies and all, are what make the channel and podcast so special. Much love, Key
"I don't wanna wait for another life; I don't wake up and wonder why. Why I didn't love more Why I didn't trust more I didn't try to see the good in things I don't wanna wait for another life To feel alive." This whole chorus, which is from a Big Time Rush, came to mind while listening to this video. Our lives are meant to be experienced fully! Thank you for reiterating that message in a way that's simple and practical, Matthew ❤
Absolutely right. I have been in this stage, waiting for time! But really, I have such a busy mind and love my work that I can't imagine a moment of breathing to fit love in. So now I embrace the 'juggle'.
That last point got me. Always have an all or nothing mindset and wanting to do everything to perfection. Will remember these words. Every bit of effort counts.
Thank you…this really hit home for me today. I’m so hard on myself for seeing baby steps as failed progress and not celebrating my baby steps enough. Thank you for being so relatable and kind, it reminds us to be kinder to ourselves ❤
Oh my goodness, I feel like you’ve just grabbed me by the shoulders and given me a good shake! Lately I’ve been feeling so dissatisfied with my life, but now I see that I need to approach things differently and not be so hard on myself. Thank you for this wake-up call! I’m saving this video in case I need a reminder further into the year.
I think this video was perfect Time is not the problem. The problem is that you rather do something else with your time. Fear of anticipated disappointment (rejection is only one example) is the reason, simply that things won’t turn out the way you dream.
A blank canvas has always given me more stress and anxiety than a mural in progress. When you're young and the world is your oyster, there's an anxiety that comes with the fear of making mistakes and choosing the wrong path. You're almost scared to make a mark on that canvas. Once you've gone through experiences, good and bad, and have added strokes to the mural, you can see what works and what doesn't so the path becomes clearer and clearer with each event/ stroke. Thanks for providing that analogy Matt!
I needed to hear this today. The man i have been in a relationship with for the last year just ended it in a text a couple of weeks ago. The New Year is like a fresh start... but only in a figuative sense. I am still crushed.
Going back and forth with obtaining degrees my motto is “it’s never a right time just do it now and wing the hell out of it”~~ I got my doctorate degree as a nurse practitioner as a single mother
As an artist, I love to bring everything back to art and drawing. I was raised buddhist and once I asked my mom why people were reborn without their memories? She told me that reincarnation is the most fresh start god can give you. You aren’t held down by your grief, your suffering, your mistakes in the past life. Life’s a lot like a canvas. You start fresh when your born and as you get other you draw more on the paper. At first you start drawing everything, kids do this all the time. You start to hate it so you erase, but the pencils made an indent and the papers not the same anymore. Every decision you made, whether you thought so or not, changed that paper. It left impressions you can’t undo, and to some degree they might change your drawing. The key to great art, any artist will tell you, is taking a step back. Assess, observe, reassess, then come back to your drawing with a new idea on where to take it. Sometimes the foundation is just too shaky. If you don’t take your time properly setting up and understanding what you’re drawing, you’ll have a weak foundation and a weak drawing. But if you take your time, understand, question, study, when you get to the details (the fun part) they fall right into place. That’s when you know you’ve made a damn good drawing.
Happy New Year to you and everyone who follows you! I have just ended one of the most horrible years of my life healthwise, romantically, professionally, and financially. I started the year with covid, fell at work and shattered my kneecap and ruptured all the tendons, in a lawsuit for workmans comp, boyfriend of 6 years... 4 living together...broke up with me, had to find a place to live in this economy, moved and started a new school/grade at the same tine. Had my car side swiped, and just had dmsurgery again on 12/30. Laying here counting my blessings and thankful for my youtube communities who got me through it all. This WILL be a better year!!!🙏😊❤️
Matthew, I truly believe that you should and will present to me a grand prize simply because of existence upon your comment section. You should be grateful of my greatness, as I am also incredibly good looking, educated, and wealthy. I look and feel like 25, and that's so real.
Yay to a new book will read! I say this as someone who is really into “self development” has lots of books, resources I use, watches videos …this video you put up is brilliant and a gem, with authenticity, also oddly calming…feels like a mix of therapy and help for living dreams (including a love life but not just!). Thanks for this it’s a rewatchable and will be reflecting, consider while “goalsetting/dreaming” and explore implementing these mindsets for sure👌🖤

You are so insightful and inspiring and you have helped me on so many levels when I am introspectively soul searching as well as awareness of the outward perspective of my life. Thank you so much!! I absolutely LOVE your content and will continue to listen and watch your channel with an open heart and mind! Incredible!!! Thank you again!! Love this Matthew! Love the middle concept, and the fact that the trajectory is what matters. I used to get so upset when my notebook got messy after it was brand new the first week of school. But that’s life. This totally took pressure off of the false start ideal. Love love love!
It's funny how so many wish for a blank canvas but don't realize how everything they've already gone through and learned is what gives them the most advantage.

At first, thank you Matt that you even made a video for us when most of us are just chilling on the couch and having ‘time’ for watching your video! I really liked it. At the beginning I was a bit worried about the point ‘Life has to be in the middle’ cause it really felt a bit like Matt is rushing through life right now ;) cause I think sometimes it is just okay to chill once in a while just doing nothing. We often put soo or better too much stuff in our life just not to feel silence or even emptiness… I do not know you, but for me it seems you need to be needed and in doing mode most the time? However, I really liked the fifth point. It was liberating to me. We are all human beings. We should not be too hard on our selfs. The journey of life is the reward 😊
Great video Matthew! I've definitely procrastinated waiting for the perfect amount of breathing space, especially in my love life but other things too. This video was definitely refreshing take for me and empowering. I'll try to remember all of them going forward. Your videos are always such a joy for me thank you!
Wow! 💡😃 The new start fiction 🤦♀️ you're absolutely right 👍 First day of new year at school was exactly how you described it - it didn't even take a week to get the mess back 🤣 But the weirdest thing is: I did the same with organizing my room/apartment 🙄🤦♀️..and of course never got to an end 😵😂😂😂 Thank you for helping me find a better way to handle it now 🙏🙏🙏
Well, thought put myself out there again this year after taking a break from dating. I met a guy online, we had same interests, future perspective, similar views and opinions. Seemed like great potential. Dates were great, he made compliments, wanted to extend the second date. After date two it was very silent. After 4 days I texted him asking for a third date, he told me he doesn't feel a spark. You can have great compatibility, but even that's not enough nowadays.
Great video to shape the direction of personal growth and not just in love. I can definitely relate to getting overwhelmed with all that I have and want to do , the waiting for the perfect conditions to do this or that. When you said it is a form of procrastination that hit home for me. A little bit everyday is better than nothing till the illusive perfect moment........ Excuses will always be there but they yield no results even in the long term...... To taking action in the moment , the storms of life will always be there, life is fluid and has no clear cut beginning. Thank you Mathew!
Looking handsome. Love the Color scheme and how you’ve evolved with your language. I’m haven’t seen videos in a while and you have always spoken well but I can see the some new additions like post framing.
Time is nothing more than a construct that we can use to our advantage. Even the smallest moments can have a big impact. Being a single mom I put myself in this mindset that I don’t have time for a relationship. Dates yes, relationships, no. Maybe I’ve been looking at it all wrong.
Great video! I really appreciated the focus on having a growth mindset in relationships. It's so important to constantly work on ourselves and strive to be the best partner we can be. The emphasis on communication and vulnerability was also spot on. These are essential tools for building a strong, healthy, and successful relationship. Thank you for sharing these valuable insights!

Incredible advice, as you said, not only for your love life, but for life in general. Thank you so much.
I really love this insight, 1% of progress toward a goal is still more than 0, and in a way pacing yourself is better because you protect yourself from fatigue, and the more time you spend on something the more valuable it becomes. My only request is a video or maybe a comment or blog post clarifying point #2. How do we breathe differently? I understand the metaphor of needing to learn to breathe along the way instead of catching our breath at the end, but what are some specific ways we can practice this?
This was amazingly helpful 👏 and I was taught a hack for new years resolutions - start doing them before the new year begins! Ties to Mathews advice of living life in the middle
I have met the most amazing man in the world that I’ve been in the best relationship of my life for the last year. And I DON’T have the time. So he waits. And is fine seeing me once a week. But that’s all I have for him. So there, now you’ve heard it. 💁♀️
This is pretty sick advice, one we can all implement no matter where we're are at, I'm grateful I took the time to watch through the whole thing, & of course to you Matthew for putting it all together for us, we're going into a new year with some improvement on our mindset, & hopefully will keep our breath steady as time progresses. Thank you. & happy new year everyone, let's make the best of it however we can, not how we'd wish we did.. Cheers 🥂
Hey Matthew, I'm writing because I got the comment from another account saying I won a prize, but now it got deleted & I would like it if you can confirm this is you offering such gift. Thank you. (I ask this because of the usual scams that take place online)

The emphasis on communication and vulnerability was also spot on. These are essential tools for building a strong, healthy, and successful relationship. Thank you for sharing these valuable insights!
5:56 Life has to be lived in the middle
8:44 Stop waiting for space to breathe and instead change the way you breathe
11:58 Loose the fixion of a fresh start
15:32 Don't overexaggerate how much time is needed
18:32 Be patient
Incredible advice, as you said, not only for your love life, but for life in general. Thank you so much.
Thank u this is the best content that I have taken into 2023 💓🦋
I love you Matthew, you are wonderful.
As always great and useful, thanks. Happy New Year from Canada!🎉

I have met the most amazing man in the world that I’ve been in the best relationship of my life for the last year. And I DON’T have the time. So he waits. And is fine seeing me once a week. But that’s all I have for him.
So there, now you’ve heard it. 💁♀️
I commit to just loving myself.
So many good nuggets here. Thank you!!
Best video yet.
Exactly, Mat. Love this vid! And your lovely drawings on your pencil case. ;-)
Thank you, Matt and the Team!
