No Doubt..... I am from Indiana - This Guy had a Great career. Had an outside jumper. True Story: I was at a wholesale store once and he was there buying his dog a gigantic bag of dog food. I had convo with him - and he was a super cool nice guy. Great Content as always - that's why I subscribed.
Now that was a great Pacers team. The Davis boys, Reggie, Rik, Mark Jackson, and D. McKey. They could’ve won a championship, a few bounces here, a few bounces there…
Actually, Reggie Miller scored a career high and Pacers' NBA franchise high in points in a single playoff game because if you add ABA numbers, Roger Brown holds the true Pacers franchise playoff record with 53 points. Anyways, Smits was the second best Pacers in franchise history behind "Uncle" Mel Daniels of the ABA's Indiana Pacers. Hope you do Swen Nater the original Dunkin' Dutchman.
I'VE BEEN A SPURS FAN SINCE 1974 BECAUSE OF MY HERO GEORGE ICEMAN GERVIN AND SWEN FLYING DUTCHMAN NATER IS THE ONLY PLAYER TO WIN A REBOUNDING TITLE IN THE ABA AND NBA THAT ALONE SHOULD GET HIM IN THE HALL OF FAME
Team probably didn’t want him going too hard for boards given his fragility, weight, and center of gravity would make him easy to box out . Just not worth it when you have the Davis brothers to get you boards
He was forced to bulk up and be more of a low post player due to his size and the playing style in that era and definitely didn't rebound like you would expect from that archetype of a center. He was actually much more mobile before coming into the NBA and had a good shooting touch from a bit further out too. With today's approach to the game I think he could play more like a Porzingis who is also considered an underwhelming rebounder for his size.
This is why REAL nba fans are impressed by Wemby yea but not on some “wow i never saw anyone that tall that can move” like cut it out already of course he is a new and improved version of shawn bradley rik smits etc evolution will do that you know?
Another elegant giant with the ball. Criminally underrated center

There’s certain guys that would give Shaq a lot of trouble and rik was definitely one
He used to torture the Knicks fo sure 💯
Very underrated he use to give Patrick Ewing the business
I would like for Horace Grant to get his shine
Smits most underrated big man ever
He is like a XXXL small forward to me, totally impressive quickness and skillset
Rik Smits was well coordinated for a 7'4" center. Too bad about his injuries......
These videos are great. Consider doing one on Steve Smith and Terry Porter. Thanks!
SMITS 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Shaq has only-GOOD-things to say about Rik Smits. I enjoyed watching Smits and those Davis guys demolish opponents in the lane for the-PACERS. LOL.
Pro tip-“hanged” is only used when talking about hanging a person in the past tense. It’s just “hung” around
such a goat i wish one day i could meet him
and he is a 2k god his jumpshot too nice for 7’4

Amazing how few rebounds he averaged considering his size

Do Rony Seikly
the pacers won three titles in the defunct american basketball association.
Reggie and Ewing are 2 stars that deserved better Teammates
Ewing had starks, Houston, LJ, spree etc
His number should be retired on that team.
Michael Williams
Proto dirk nowitzki
