Rather useful guide I think one or two extra potential steps that could help too DX12 often has performance benifits in advanced launcher options, however experiment with what works for you. Steam overlay as of recentish has caused performance issues for many (including myself), disabling the overlay in vt2 may also help for some people
Thanks I needed this. Im kinda new and still cant understand why this game performs so poorly on my PC. Just looking on graphics I shouldnt have any issues since I can run better looking games way more smoothly but this is really demanding.
I don't know a lot about computers but I'd say it's because of all the stuff that's happening on screen. It requires a lot of processing power with that many AI's doing stuff at the same time, it's not so much about the graphics. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.
I have a really bad pc so here are some trick than can help people like me: Turn off steam overlay in the library or turn it off to all games in steam settings. Update gpu drivers and directx (you can find these links in the official post of fatshark "how to fix most crashes" If you have a way better gpu than cpu, check all the setting in game that uses cpu and turn them off or lowest, you can still have high settings in gpu options (like ssao) The game seems to always run better in borderless window and with frames caped, however some people seems better performance using fullscreen and no cap. If you already have the game at minimum and still have performance issues then try check a guide to change the setting directly from the user config in %appdata%/roaming/fatshark. This will allows you to lower even more the graphics.
try turning off steam overlay and try using amd fidelity fx in the video settings. it lowers your resolution then smartly scales it back up in a way that increases fps
A reminder: restart the game everytime you mess with graphics settings, even if you change options that do not require restart. The game runs like shit everytime you do that, so just leave and restart once its done with.
But it's up to Fartshark to fix the *optimization* of some maps and areas. For example Holseher's tower, a map so poorly optimized you need a beefy rig for proper and steady framerates especially during hordes and fights. At times it has been unacceptably bad for my now old and retired setup. Not to mention new map glitches and missing collisions that send you *into* the floor and keep you there.
I watched this video 3 weeks ago in the hope its helps me with sudden lag problems: I played this game for 2 years now and did not have any problems apart from the usual fps drops when the chaos wastes maps were released but then i did not play the game for a while and changed nothing, then after i played the game againI had huge FPS issues which I id not have before and have no idea why. I already tried the usual stuff and all my settings are on super low but doesn't help idk what to do at this point with these lags the game is no fun at all... I have 16 GB ram, I5 6600 and GTX 1060... Game un on an SSD
idk how common this is but ambient light quality is broken. makes the dark section on hunger in the dark basically impossible to navigate unless set to the lowest setting. blightreaper is impossible to navigate regardless what i do.
AFAIK it’s related to your CPU and how hard it’s working to run the game. Less threads = less of your CPU working on the game while more threads = more CPU on the game
Must actually be kind of cool, seeing links to your videos in the launcher for the game. Definitely THE best Vermintide 2 guideman IMO.
Perfect guide got to the point and gave nice alternatives for different desired goals and sub 10 mins, nice.
Rather useful guide
I think one or two extra potential steps that could help too

@@parmaunited Stuttering in DX12 Is shader caching, although this usually goes away after you cache shaders by playing for a bit
I would also recommend in the visual effects to turn off the Blood Screen Effects aswell since it always gets in the way when fighting hordes

It's the hordes. The game is very CPU demanding when you get hoarded.
That said it's also a question of optimisation as well
Amazing, I was waiting for this!

Such a useful video, thank you
im playing on a laptop...every setting is on the lowest, resolution: 800:600 muhahahahaaa .....and the fakin machine still hot as a grill :D
You might be able to squeeze more performance out of your laptop by cooling it more.
there is a fanpad under it....which blows the hot air on my legs...:D

if you're running in dx12, your first run on every map may have stuttering while it caches everything again.
Same got even an High End PC Performance was at release way better and the month after that
Its working Mann thx verymuch
Is it like this on end times vermentide?
works like a charm. thanks a lot.
short and helpful, nice
You forget about AMD fsr which really gives perfomance boost.
Jeezus so many times I tried to figured it out... Darling ! thank you, constant 130 fps on rtx 2070 1440p. Many thanks !
thank you so much for this
Don’t know how they do it, but Vermintide 2 the ONLY game that can run at maximum overclock (at least on my machine).
omg, thank you very much.
My i7 9700k has 8 threads but it only goes up to 6 for some reason
Very helpful thx.
Thank you for this, my PC runs every game as it should except v2… Hope this helps
Could you do a video on how damage reduction works? Your video on crit damage was very good and i think it would be nice to know
I have a video planned regarding dmg reduction in the future!
Guy has 14 worker threads, I have a MAX of 2 xD How is that possible, my machine aint even that shite
you can change the number in the config file
i got 10 max, and my device is a gaming laptop
idk how common this is but ambient light quality is broken. makes the dark section on hunger in the dark basically impossible to navigate unless set to the lowest setting. blightreaper is impossible to navigate regardless what i do.
what are worker threads is it related to horde spawns or something like that ?
AFAIK it’s related to your CPU and how hard it’s working to run the game. Less threads = less of your CPU working on the game while more threads = more CPU on the game
Grateful
12th gen intel has P and E cores, should i put it down to the amount of P cors instead of "Max -1"?
at :27 how do you do the staff so quickly there? IS it by hitting qq quickly?
I'm just finger rolling the right click attack for the weapon really quickly lol, no qq involved
what about dx11 over dx12?
my fps seems higher on dx11, but I'm not sure what it changes visually
Its a case by base basis depending on computer, you'll have to try both out and see which one just works better
I got a 3080 and my frames do be hitting 40
Cry in lowest setting :(. Still have a playable framerate luckily
my game crashes after a few minutes. 5600xt gpu
tuf 560x wifi cpu
updated drivers, used directx12, integrity files. idk whats wrong
Maybe just reinstall the whole game if you tried everything else
have you tried dx11
i tried dx11 before the driver updates, i will try that then if that doeant qork ill reinstall
Doing a clean install of your gpu drivers can help when nothing else seems to. Sometimes something gets gummed up in there.
I enjoy Head Bobbing and Camera Shake. Saying "trust me, turn these off" in that arrogant tone deserved and immediate thumb down.
lol chill
