  • In this Flats Class UA-cam video Captain C.A. Richardson is going to cover using spoons to catch quality size Redfish. But what he’s going to focus on the most is “when” you should be considering to use the spoons effectively. Some people don’t have a ton of confidence in spoons but it’s proven that they can be one of the effective lures to use when targeting Redfish. I break out the spoon in October when my mom makes me pumkin pie. Good video captain

    I use a Johnson minnow almost exclusively for redfish and snook and also trout. I love that lure. That flashing gold as you reel they can’t resist it

    I've got something for you! Want to make sure gnats (no-see-ums) never bother you? Place 1 or 2 drops of vanilla extract behind each ear. Let me know what you think, ok?

    What a coincidence on the fog Captain. I departed out yesterday to the Lower laguna Madre via Arroyo City. The fog was so darn thick I had to utilize my phone GPS as I would constantly lost my sense of direction. Fog pretty much ate most of my day clearing out right before 1 p.m. I managed to get 8 under size reds and no keepers though. No indication of catches back at the ramp cleaning station either. Thanks for the spoon tips, I favor the J. gold weedles spoon along with the regular one with single curvy hook that doesn't catch too many weeds.

    Good stuff cap. On days like today with crappy tides I have a hard time deciding saltwater or bass fishing. But maybe I'll go chuck a spoon around Palma Sola bay this morning. Happy Sunday cap🤟🇺🇸🇺🇸

      Amen to that lol... But I've been struggling to bring myself bass fishing lately... Just not as fun, and you factor in all the recent B.S, heat, and etc... Just not worth an 8hr day to get screwed by no fault of you own lol.

    Does a spoon need a swivel? I’ve seen some people say it makes your line really twist up because the action a spoon has

      The best spoons have swivels but a cheap spoon can be a great spoon by adding one. Like a Johnson silver minnow.

    If the wind isn't real stiff, I like to tear a bright curled tail off a gulp grub and put on the hook for some extra contrast and scent.

    When I’m searching I like something I like something both trout and reds hit. I catch a lot of reds on spoons but not as many trout. In your experience do trout hit spoons equally well?

    • @flatsclasscharters
      @flatsclasscharters 2 роки тому +1

      Not equally but they do feed on spoons better in creek systems for sure

    Gold spoons are the "gold standard" for reds on the Texas coast.

      Agreed. Gold is always the go-to, but I have caught reds on the white Aqua Dream.
