That was fun to watch!.. Arne Rasmushaugen is my uncle, but i sadly never got to watch him drive, as he quit before i was old enough. Thanks for uploading!
I don’t think there has ever been anyone more determined to win than Schanche, he’s a thorn in anyone’s side if you’re in his way 😂 Great footage as usual, thank you 👍🏻
@@thomasmadden2232 yes although the original in rallycross came in November 1987 with Norway’s Dagfinn Larsen ARG MG Metro 6R4 BiTurbo which competed at the Croft inter nations cup that year in England,Dagfinn used it in the Norwegian national series of the same year and in Europe in 88.
I am glad that a number of these monsters got to live on for a few more years in Rally Cross after the death of Group B instead of just rotting away in barns and museums.
@@gurtsmunta1 Manufacturers had to produce 200 cars to compete in group B.(Apparently Lancia cheated a wee bit with the S4 Delta). When they were competing for a given time,I can’t rember if it was one or two years, the 10% evolution rule came into play This enabled manufacturers to introduce upgraded cars (20 each). If you look at the 205 T 16 it had a huge rear wing fitted, as the early car had a tendency to nose dive after a big jump,Ari Vatenan almost died in a crash because of this.I don’t think Austin Rover had a chance to upgrade the metro before group B was banned.I’m fortunate to have been able to go to rallies and watch these cars blasting through the forests ,forty years on it’s still one of life’s moments you never forget
The absolute peak of rallycross...... drivers ...cars and entertainment
Awesome stuff, schanche is my motorsport hero😊
Just fantastic stuff!! 😃

@@meganjay30 I think so too and it makes for great entertainment.
The Metro chassis looked planted there. A leisurely Sunday afternoon drive. Thanks for the upload.
Yep one of the original Bi Turbo’s long before Will eventually upgraded to one
@@rallycrossvhsdvd was this the inspiration for gollops metro?

Me: "It's 4am, we need to go to bed"
Brain: "No, We need to watch this autocross footage from 1989"
Rallycross 😉
😂😂
Martin threw everything at it but the Metro just kept pulling away, great watch
Off memory the 6R4 was a 3.0 v6 but not turbo, it was naturally aspirated. I suppose with RallyCross you can use what engine you like really.
This was Bi turbo 😉 6r4
Makes you wonder how well the metro would have done in group b with a few more years development.
they where not homologated with turbos.
Limited by horsepower restrictions, so probably not very well.

Why does Martins RS200 looks so ramshackle? like it's about to fall to pieces at any moment.
because he drove it like hell.
He always drove it like he had just stolen it
would love to see these beasts in their heyday take on the current cars..
