ABBA's team members are quoted directly. Benny, Bjorn and Michael Tretow, ABBA's engineer considered Frida a master vocalist as did her peers.
Agnetha was a record label generated pop star before ABBA. Some stage, but limited.
Frida name started to be known in the music community when she still in grade school/middle school.
She first was noticed in grade school by her teachers. In 1956, she took the stage. She swept the talent hunts. In 1958, age 13 she turned pro, fronting bands and orchestra's. At age 13, she already had earned respect from all the professional musicians.
Circa 1963/64 she founded 'Anni-Frid Four'/'Anni-Frid & Gunnar Trio'.
Gunnar was her accomplished pianist and former big bandmate for which she joined and fronted at age 16.
She won best vocalist awards as a child, pre-teen, teen and adult, too include Best National Vocalist.
She has a very interesting indie career from 1958-1967. Then her big break happened in 1967 -- National Best Vocalist award, leading to national prominence, TV Shows, Radio Shows, EMI Sweden, modeling, etc....
In 1969, she met Benny. She reluctantly switched to more pop music, although she preferred the more challenging classical standards, classical and jazz genre. But pop was more lucrative, even though less creative vocally.
In 1972, she officially agreed to be part of the foursome after she left in 1971. Stig offered her a sweet deal. Stig needed an elite level vocalist and an experienced stage performer. That was Frida.
In 1972, Stig named the foursome ABBA and they stared to do live shows. Frida was the vocal and physical leader on stage.
This lead up to 'Arrival' album/era which put them into orbit. Frida was used heavily to sell 'Arrival'.
The first part of the book tells their childhood upbringing. Benny, Bjorn & Agnetha all had loving and supportive families. Siblings. Middle class. Ideal childhoods.
Frida's childhood was the opposite. A virtual orphan. Offspring of German soldier and Norwegian girl. Taken to Sweden as a toddler by her grandmother as she was an unwanted "war baby" in Norway. Anyway, her whole life story is pretty incredible. She turned out to be a success in music, and business. She even become a Princess.

I agree. While it's true that Agnetha seemed to get the most attention, I thought Frida made a "connection" with the audience. She seemed to actually enjoy performing and being on stage. In short, she looked like she was actually having fun! Both women had fantastic voices, and when blended together were spectacular. I never get tired if ABBA.
At the end of the day the two beautiful and talented ladies complimented each other perfectly .

In my opinion Marie had the best voice and she was the best interpreter ever. She could sing from soul, pop, ballads, dance, rock and roll, jazz or even punk as the best artist that she was.
