The best song ever from Abba.
100% indeed
Je ne la connaissais pas, elle est vraiment très belle effectivement.
Flop leider.
it's 2024 and i still love abba. 🚆

I'm 62 yrs old & I've been a fan of Abba since they won the Eurovision song contest 50 yrs ago, when I was a boy of 12, always loved Agnetha ❤❤❤
Checking in from 2024. Still one of the greatest songs ever made!
My favourite ABBA song, but unfortunately rarely played.
Well why don’t you play it more often? That seems the logical remedy to that problem. UA-cam is open 24 hours a day and it’s free. Go on. Treat yourself.

@@unclenelvisI think when they said rarely played they meant that they haven’t heard this song from anywhere else, not that they rarely play this song
This song described my life 32 years ago, working two jobs as an immigrant who came to the US with nothing, I was working routinely without aim, lived the single life yet still without aim, 5 years later I saw her smiley eyes in a night that changed my life. The very next morning I stood at the window and listened to this beautiful song for the thousand times yet I finally felt what it meant, I listened to my life in a song and I discovered that I am in love with that beautiful girl I saw the night before, fast forward almost 28 years that girl still my wife and I still feel the same feeling that I felt the morning after I saw her the first time. ABBA has impacted my life in the most beautiful way.
Today July 2nd, 2023 we celebrate our 29 anniversary and the day after you came continue to be written, love is a gift that I cherish and never take for granted.....
Fantastic
this is amazing
Bravo Sam!
Oh. Yes Yes Yes 👍😁👍 감사🇰🇷🌈🇰🇷
Счастливые вы!!
By God, what beauty Agnetha is, unmatched. ❤❤❤❤❤
The real miracle of the song, is that the man who wrote the lyrics didn't speak English as his first language, and neither did the man who put the words to music. Fantastic song, as is Andante Andante, their other gem.
Winner Takes it All. Another stunning work of art.
@@davidelliott5843Chiquitita too!❤
In my opinion, best song they made
People don't realise it but this is truly one of the greatest masterpieces in modern pop music. No chorus, a double-beat that comes at intervals that feel right but you cannot put your finger on, an extremely mundane story that actually is so powerful from what it doesn't say. The feeling of sadness in the song, a contradiction given the implication it is about finding a new lover. There is so much it leaves you thinking about - just wonderful!
so true.....
merci merci
Yes, this song is so meaningful. I discovered it right before starting a new romance and felt it was saying exactly what I was feeling. Then when that romance failed, it still said exactly what I was feeling on the other side.

One of ABBA's greatest and most underrated singles. Agnetha's vocal is simply stunning and the video is just brilliant.

So clever to describe a love affair from the emptiness of life before. I've never heard any song do that before or since. Heart-rending and genius.
It is not 'one of the best', it's their very best
This song is a hidden gem. Only people who actually take the time to deep dive into ABBAs discography will find it. Nonetheless it’s one of their absolute best and it makes you wonder what would have happened if they had decided to stick together for a couple more records. Sadly it was emotionally draining for them to continue, you can feel Agnetha’s pain half across The Visitors 😢

It really is a wonderful track.
I love this song but ABBA really Never made a bad record.
A musical masterpiece. Doesn't matter if you're into heavy metal to Mozart and everything in-between. This is just brilliant. The vocals and the story of a mundane day brought to life in this recording. And the background music. I'm no expert so probably a technical name for it but it's so understated but so brilliant at the same time. Just my opinion but i think this is the best Abba song by a country mile and possibly one of the all time greats. Love to hear your thoughts and if you agree or disagree.
Benny is closest to the classic composers that we had in our lifetime. This song is brilliant due to the mixture of synths, drops and the haunting backvocals of Frida, who sound like a grieving mythological creature. Masterpiece to say at least.
I agree I know all genres of music this stands out from most

Agnethas voice is hauntingly beautiful
A total iconic masterpiece in music history. This song best describes what ABBA was going through as a group at this time and tells the whole story with just the beat. So sad considering this was their last song ever recorded together. It gives me chills knowing that Agnetha refused to sing this song unless the lights were dimmed in the studio and the air was just right. She even had a certain distance from the microphone during the recording. The fact she left the studio right after her last vocal in this song, not saying a word to anybody, and valuing to never go on stage again is haunting. Just makes this song ever so much more meaningful, beautiful, and powerful with how much heartbreak and talent that was involved in its creation. You can hear her heart through her voice. There is no music that comes close to ABBA. They are one of a kind, never to be duplicated again. Everything they did together was a success. And it still holds true today. I hope they never forget what they did for our industry and how much we love them. We miss you ABBA!
You’ve opened my eyes to another possible background to this wow!!!
But it wasn’t their last song ever recorded together. There are at least 5 new songs, and Bjorn is not featured in the recording. Only Agnetha, Frida and Benny are featured.

A timeless masterpiece.
The Day Before You Came" is a song that has always resonated with me, for a long time, as it beautifully captures the monotony of daily life and the profound impact a significant person can have on our lives. The lyrics, written from the perspective of the protagonist, meticulously recount the mundane details of their day-to-day existence, or at least, how it once was, and indeed returned to. This highlights the lack of passion and direction in their life, before the arrival of a special someone.
The protagonist explaining their morning routine, such as leaving their house at eight and catching the train. This meticulous description of their daily life emphasizes the sense of obligation and the lack of excitement or spontaneity before the arrival of their lover. As the song progresses, the protagonist describes their workday, lunch break, and the commute back home, illustrating a rigid and predictable routine. The lyrics "I must have kept on dragging through the business of the day, without really knowing anything, I hid a part of me away" suggest a disconnection from their emotions and a sense of being only partially present in their own life, just going by, and by.
The music video is also a departure from ABBA's previous work, which often featured the band members dressed in glamorous outfits and upbeat, energetic visuals. In contrast, the video for "The Day Before You Came" features Agnetha Fältskog as the protagonist, dressed in somber attire, riding the train, interacting with her lover, and driving home in the rain. To somber tunes. The individual shots of the band members sitting alone in an empty, theatre-like setting which indeed could before have been used to play a concert in, full of people, and now, empty, further contribute to the overall melancholic atmosphere of the video. As well as the shots of the train going by, and a sense of separation at it's core.
In my opinion, "The Day Before You Came" is possibly the greatest love song ever made, or at least one of them. The song's emotional depth & versatility, coupled with its introspective lyrics and poignant tone, showcased ABBA's ability to craft songs that resonated with listeners on multiple levels. The song serves as a powerful reminder of how the arrival of someone special can bring newfound meaning and purpose to one's existence.
Moreover, the song is particularly significant as it was the last one recorded by ABBA together before they split. The themes of longing, introspection, and the eventual realization of the impact this person has had on their life could be interpreted as a metaphor for the band's journey, with the members moving on from their time together and returning to their individual lives. When you also realize that they all were couples, it adds a deeper meaning to it as well. This added layer of meaning makes the song even more poignant and powerful, reflecting on both personal relationships and the group's journey as a whole. These different approaches help make it a lot more profound.
This is a song that has deeply touched me, and i can listen to it again and again, as it captures the essence of love, longing, and the transformative power of human connection. It stands out not only as one of ABBA's most moving songs but also as one of the greatest love songs ever made. The song's themes and the music video's visual representation of the protagonist's life create a powerful and poignant experience that remains unforgettable. At it's core, the lyrics just describe a normal day most of us can recognize, but when you add the melody to it, it tells you that something more is going on here. This song remains one of ABBA's more less known songs compared to dancing queen, or the winner takes it all, but whereas those were part of their journey, i think the day before you came can be seen as the end.
Солидарна с вами ! Спасибо за анализ , сказано точно !👌

Yes indeed, and this is why I am sure that 100-500 years from now, ABBA will be regarded in a similar way to how we enjoy the composers of hundreds of years ago. They are truly unique, with an amazing portfolio of songs, never to be repeated again, and to be preserved for ever.
It must never be forgotten, that like many great and successful recording / performing musical artists, they had a great team of producer's and Musician's supporting them, a wonderful organisation altogether.

Слышится полный трагизм в отношениях, терзания и страдания души, невозможно передать это чувство, когда слова так гармонично ложатся на мелодию.

Video rất hoàn hảo.❤❤❤❤
« Oh yes… am sure my life was well within its usual frame » her trembling voice on the last words makes me shiver each time. That’s the key sentence along with “I never even noticed I was blue”. My utmost favorite song. Hitting contrast between a too normal and boring day, and the distressing music growing up to the end… something’s gonna happen and it doesn’t sound a happy one.
The ‘you’ in this song is definitely not a lover, or any other positive thing. The song has a bleak, haunting tone and all four ABBA members are genuinely unhappy in the video. Both couples had divorced and the band’s time was coming to an end.
I read years ago theories about who the "you" is in this song. The one that always stuck with me is that it's simply the band, because it had caused such turmoil and upheaval in her life. Her marriage had ended and the band was breaking up.
It makes a lot of sense when you listen to the tone of the song and listen to the hints the guys made about what the song is about, since they have never revealed its full meaning, but they have said that it is not a happy song.
Byorn wrote the lyrics. Frida does the incredibly atmospheric backing voice. Benny everything else. Just wow.

It's about hope somehow - love comes one day -, but also about the sadness of the emptiness until then... an emptiness we fill with busy-ness and TV and reading and normal everyday things... Yet there's something missing... and she didn't know until it entered her life... So the Aim should be Love. :-)
Agnetha couldn't look more beautiful than she does in this video.
She was so incredibly gorgeous.
A timeless beauty icon. Like old movie stars in the 40s/50s.
she is always beautiful.
This song is just so bloody good. It's one their last but one of their best. I used to cling to the idea that the Beatles were the greatest pop group of all time, but NO ABBA were the greatest.
Both are fantastic. The Beatles are the greatest rock band of all time, whilst ABBA are the greatest pop band of all time.
Terrific !!!!! Wonderful !!!! ❤️🌹🇩🇴
200 years from now ABBA will be a subject in music school.
S U R E IT WILL !! O:-)
Nope 100 years from now
.....more correct: 25 yrs ! ...or much earlier ! O:-)!
Facts
It already is!
Why she never got a movie contract is beyond me...that airport scene with her husband and then the driving in the rain are Oscar performances!
She was an actress in the only one Swedish film

Their best song. A masterpiece. It’s eternal and here I am at 57 listening to it. Over and over. So happy they are back. I have been transferred with the 2 new songs to my college days.
57 I am 82 and I still listen to them they are just great
I totally agree. I’ve preordered the new album

Yes, a masterpiece indeed.
@@bluebell2247 I'm 78 so I'm right behind you. Their music is ageless so their fans are all ages.
Слушаешь и тебя охватывает какое то непонятное чувство восторга ,неуёмной ностальгии и прекрасного беспокойства , песня пробирает до мозга костей , это очень здорово , что мы можем слушать подобные ШЕДЕВРЫ
"..penetrates to the marrow of the bones..." I like the wording!
I don't know your language. But I have been to Hotel Warsava and back. Still here. Cheers. Happy New Year

As with so many people, I found you don't go looking for love, you just one day wake up and find you are in love. The thought that went into this song from people who sang phonetically, and were not totally well versed in the English language. How they captured these thoughts in a foreign language. Genius is all I can say about Abba. When I am in deep thought, I can put on Abba and their music brings me peace, calm and happiness. Silly, I know. Probably no one else feels this way, but the right music can do so much for a person. Thank you Benny, Bjorn, Agnetha, Anni Frid. How can you put value on the decades of style and perfectly matched music and voice?
You are not alone.
This is actually the last song recorded by Abba. In fact, only Agnetha and Benny were in the studio during the recording. Agnetha sang it in a dark booth with a lit candle to add to the mood. Adding to Agnetha's singing is Freda's plaintive vocals in the background; at 2:29 and towards the end of the song (4:33) you can hear her singing above the music, it is so haunting. The video is just as haunting as the song I think, because the group was breaking up, both couples were divorced; in the video, they are separate, alone, individuals once again, ready to go their separate ways. For all of these reasons, the song is sad and moody and hopeful all at the same time. A true masterpiece by one of the greatest and most talented music groups ever. Will there ever be talent like this in music again?
Sorry but you are wrong. The last was "All is saied an Done".
No auto tune needed here. Just beautiful. 😢
abba wrote 2 new songs in 2018 mate
It was their “let it be” But better.
It was actually Under Attack that was their last song. Search it up.
And now, we have a new ABBA songs, so this beautiful song is not the last one, which was recorded!😜
Sure thing....😊👍
Wasn't it "Under Attack"?
Pedro Bonucci under attack was the last single, but the last song recorded (until 2018) was the day before you came
This was the last one to be recorded? :))) One of their best songs, in my opinion.
The best ever👍
ABBA best pop band of all time!

Mrs. Aghneta, still beautiful, sings wonderfully. In addition, it has something that is missing in today's generation of singers. Namely class, delicacy. I just love her.
young women now are thougth to selfpromete themselves - if it takes to it without class and get rich they do it
@@jari2018 And the cause of that is the patriarchal structures.
Kochałem te czasy kiedy muzyka była muzyka a tekst piosenki miał jakiś sens.
Abba représente une époque très différente de celle que nous vivons, pourtant ce n'est juste qu'hier .Ce groupe a fait rêver toute une génération , et cela continue encore avec nos enfants et nos petits enfants , c'est réellement formidable !!!!!!! .
She is a superb actor as well.
The best part of the ABBA reunion is that people will discover songs like this that got no attention but are still relevant today and will hopefully be re released. ABBA has so many songs that could have been huge hits and were not released!!
Couldn't agree with you more
I agree. "Under Attack", "Angeleyes", "The Visitors",...etc.
No and this is why.... these are dated,i live in Sweden and i for one can tell ,that the "new listeners" will go back, as every one has so far.
the 2 last albums of ABBA were hardly noticed, we all loved it, but it was all a matter of routine...
I'm sure Mamma Mia helped in that regard
Agreed. This is is such a gorgeous song, and so few people seem to even know it exists. It's also Agnetha's best work in a video, imo.
Agnetha not only has a wonderful voice, deep feeling and most of all she sings with her whole heart . That's why she is beautiful.
Самая щемящая песня АББЫ. Просто взрыв эмоций!
