    Ive watched many videos and while I find it rather blah when there is more talk of everything but...this video did help me a ton, so thank u! Not one other video has answered my question as to whether T14 or T18 would make a better choice for darker shades of orangy yellowish lightened hair...lucky enough I bought the T14 and you dear have made my day!!! :)

    Hair cut looks amazing! I checked back to the start of the video to compare. Very flattering. Tempted to hack mine now! I tried toning my hair with wella stuff I bought off Ebay (I suspect fake like many make up brands on Ebay). Jesus it went red, blue, purple patches. Badly, not in a fun way. Usually I persevere but gave up and dyed it purple haha.

    Just a fyi, I use 10v developer bec the 20 v was trying to lift too much and caused more brass. 10v works great bec you really only want to deposit the toner.

      I used a 20 developer with the t14 and it worked extremely well. I also put it on dry hair lol. I used it on damp hair and it didn't do a damn thing.

  • @Miksmissus

    T18 tones yellows
    T14 tones oranges
    You have different tones because your hair was different colours
    The light purple (silver) that you got in the first place is because you’re essentially dying your hair with the toner…with the opposite colour on the colour wheel
    So blue in t14 cancels out the orange and the violet in t18 cancels out the yellow…
    I personally love the over toned silver colour, and I find it allows the hair to have that bit of extra time in toning so I personally over tone…
    But you may avoid it if you want to by using the toners separately, by applying the t14 to those orange ends and the t18 to the top yellow roots ….
    Though they’d never come out the same colour…if you don’t want different colours of blonde you could bleach those mods and ends once more and just stick with t18 all over…or better still, don’t over process your roots in the first place. Just apply the bleach to your kids and ends before applying to new hair

    Just a helpful tip, your hair won't tone so much but will lift more with 20 developer I think If you use a 10 developer you'd achieve a more ashy color like you were hoping for :) that and if it's wet it dilutes it so you can actually tone it while dry too to get more bold colors.

    This is exactly why I do not trust anyone to cut my hair I have been cutting my own hair with professional shears &professional hair cutting scissors for 10 years now all because of one hair stylist that scarred me for life . A "trim" turned into cutting like 5 fucking inches off of my BEAUTIFUL naturally silky straight light brown hair. Went from being long to fucking shoulder length in just a few regretful snips. If u cherish ur long hair, next time u get a haircut &want to keep ur length, Make it SO VERY CLEAR that u will NOT tolerate too much length being cut off &STAND UP FOR URSELF

    • @elilypott
      @elilypott 8 років тому

      If you bleach it at home blue bleach is better because it helps cancel out orange as it bleaches. Not completely but it will help. And when you tone it use a blue based toner if its still orange because blue is opposite of orange and will better cancel it out then a purple based toner. I'm not a professional but this is what I've learned from research.

    If you lighten your hair to a pale lemon stage you don't have to have a toner. What has happened is the drugstore lightener kits like highlighters, used to work great because they used a 30 or 40 developer. A few people didn't pay attention to the directions and use them differently and fried their hair terribly. So L'Oreal and several other brands lowered their developer to a 10! That is not enough to lift the color out of your hair so you're left with orange hair! You need to go to Sally's and find a powder bleach that has the most levels of lightning like some will lighten Seven Levels Etc and always use a 30 or 40 developer! Don't get antsy and rinse it too soon! with hair your length you need to start at the very back underneath and work your way up! Put a plastic cap on and you can heat your hair with a blow dryer and wrap it in a towel to keep heat in! If you get to the pale lemon stage it will be a beautiful blonde with no warm tones!! I do that highlighting my hair! It's a beautiful platinum color. What fries people's hair is they bleach it they don't leave it on long enough and it turns yellow and orange like yours. Then they try to tone it, and toner won't work when your hair does not have enough color lifted out. I predict you will see some Tony of your orange and yellow, but not anything like you want! I recommend getting your hair and great condition by using a mask and coconut oil. Then going back in with a very good powder bleach and a 30 or 40 developer and leave it on till your hair looks white with the very pale yellow tone. Then you're there! You will love it! I don't know your natural color by the way it looks now I would say you are a dark brunette. But your skin is light enough that your hair isn't going to be as stubborn as Latino or Asian hair. Good luck! I hope this helps a little

      Thanks for the advice Dede! I swear - I thought I was going crazy because I had used L’Oreal excellence for over 15 years and always had natural looking, gorgeous color! I thought it stopped working because I moved to another state and they have crappy water here! Great advice! THANKS!😄

    • @MimiDidi121
      @MimiDidi121 6 років тому +2

      claygirl8 I only know from trial and error! Also, I used to have a cosmetology license, but that was several decades ago LOL I don't know all the modern stuff, but some things never change! Depending on how dark your hair is you need a powder bleach that will lift enough levels to get the color out. For me my hair color #6. That is a light brown, a number for is the most common brown color for caucasians. It's just a rich chocolate brown. For number 6 I need my bleach to lift about seven levels. You need the same for it 4. Then you have to have a developer, same thing as peroxide LOL , that is strong enough to also help the bleach lift the color. A 10 developer is perfect if you're going to deposit color on to your hair. Let's say your hair is a mousy Blondie Brown, but you want to make it more of a chocolate ground. So you pick the hair color in the developer, it always want a 10 developer , sometimes a 20 depending on how resistant your hair is to accept color or if there's a bunch of Grey. Gray is usually coarser than your regular hair and is harder to deposit color on to. Does any of this make sense? LOL I have hair that's fairly easy to bleach, but I bought a bleach with a toner in it, and then notice it says will lift up to four levels. The words up to, made me nervous. It was for a good reason, it lifted about two levels nicely! So that would be good for blonde hair that wants to go platinum. The bleach powder is pretty dark purple, so it deposits the toner the same time.

    • @aictopus
      @aictopus 6 років тому +2

      Smh I can't believe you would recommend using a 40 vol developer. 40 vol should only be used to lighten black or nearly black hair, by a /professional/. If you used to have a cosmetology license, why would you ever tell someone to do that? Not only that, you're telling people to heat it. My hair would literally break off if I did that, virgin or not.

    • @shayemandy5065

    I know this is an old video, but for future reference doing a strand test is to see how your hair is going to react color-wise. you won't know about an allergy until it is on your skin.

      Yeah... And toner adds color. 😊 but since it changes the tone of your hair, it looks like it's "taking away" orange and gold. It's like putting on purple sunglasses. Everything around you will look a slightly different shade. And oranges would look less orange.
