my favourite thing about new order is how they sound perfectly cold and industrial whilst simultaneously having one of the most vibrant beating human hearts deep in the sound. so cold yet so warm
Man all the Peel Sessions for different bands are so amazing to listen to. It's like all these great artists actually tried to play their best and also experiment around with their sound and b-sides.
Imagine if Hooky was there permanent lead singer. No disrespect to Bernard it was obviously a democratic decision but this track still kicks arse 40 years later.
They should've used Hooky vocals on more songs, but going with Bernard as the main singer was the better way to distinguish their sound from Joy Division.
It's almost impossible to relate how enigmatic New Order were at this time. Pretty soon they were no interviews, until about '83 when Gillian gave one to Smash Hits, of all people.
New Order, Depeche Mode, INXS were big in LA in the 80´s everything is else isSILENCE! Well RHCP, The Cure and ? Whom ever you might like add to the the greatest at your pleasure!
This masterpiece was recorded 18 years before I was born, but it still feels so ahead of it's time. It just doesn't compare to any music created at any time!
Actually Robert Smith had said that when he listened this song, he liked so much the guitar riff so he decided to "borrow" it and with that he created In Between Days.
Absolutely right. She had her own band I believe and recorded in the same studio as Joy Division which is how they met. Her contribution on Movement is contentious but may just be vocals on Doubts Even Here. News to me I must say. For me the subsequent albums, Power Corruption and Lies, Low Life etc ate where her contribution to the sound of NO are most influential. I personally believe that she was the defining moment when JD transitioned into NO. Just my opinion. Wish I was back in the eighties so I realized how good it was to see them live. What a fool.

that one dislike is from someone whose dreams ended.
IMO their best tune and one of the greatest songs ever.

Hooky wrote that one and the lyrics
Those first 40 seconds... Wow!

One of the greatest moments in modern music.

pEEL sESSIONS dID tHAT tO mANY sO cALLED aRTISTS

Me too.

He can hold a note better than Bernard but it's mostly the same note - in this song there are 3 notes
Best decision for a bass and drums sound base. New Order sound changed and Bernard was the better choice.
He had the ability to sound like Ian, the most, I reckon.

Probably their most polished version, very nice!
A Fractured smile that soon dies
All time fave new order song with hooky on vocals
What a forking red hot track!!!? Insane!!!
BRILLIANT
This superb track reminds me of "She sells santuary by The Cult" in more complex refined substantial and beautiful melody.

Thx. Came here from the ep version.
I love it !!

no culture at all kid
@@mja4752 You play hearthstone kid.
That's the secret that keeps Joy Division and New Order alive for generations.
Its sounds exactly like what was around at the time ffs
Class, roll on heaton park in September
Das waren noch Zeiten, wo ist die verdammte Zeitmaschine?
Win Butler the frontman of Arcade Fire really adores New Order
A stopped clock and all that
I was a teen in the 80's. I loved arcades. All Arcade Fires are vile tragedies.
Best
so eine geile Lied und kaum wenig likes....
Hook's singing ?
Yes. He had written just after Ian's death.
J'hésite toujours entre celle là et leave me alone.
Laquelle est la meilleure ?
boss koila pour moi c'est meilleure!!
I don't know if is it just me but why this song remind me so much of Cure´s "In Between Days" ????
Actually Robert Smith had said that when he listened this song, he liked so much the guitar riff so he decided to "borrow" it and with that he created In Between Days.
The verse section is the same A to D chord progression as Inbetween Days- two great songs and completely different despite their similarities IMO
This is better.
and Primary!
Ridiculously the opposite of terrible
Gillian Gilbert was not in the band at this point.
Weird I can hear the second guitar part? I guess Bernard over dubbed it or something.
Gillian joined in October of 1980, so she should be on this.
